Was another great game last night with the bibs running out eventual winner's by a goal or two after being 4-0 down for first 30 mins or so. I was a bib so happy days. :-) Everyone played their part in a very enjoyable and very evenly matched game with a few smart goals scored by both teams. Enjoying playing at Linwood and the way things are going with regards to the Dome then we could be here for a few more weeks yet. Happy footballing peeps!

Good grief....My post said 48% from wind, you say 49.3% from renewables. Even you can see those numbers are not the same. £723m invested in wind to date, you say. How much have we invested in nuclear (don't forget to factor in inflation)? How much are we spending on decommissioning? And before you start, bear in mind that I'm a QS working in the nuclear decommissioning industry for the Tier 1 contractor. That means I'm good at sums and that I have some knowledge of one of the three main parts of the estate. ETA - how's the UK as a whole coming along wrt meeting its target for renewables - ahead or behind?

Like it or not Rangers & Celtic both command big enough support to be invited to the table in any breakaway Euro league. I hope they are, and I hope they both bugger off.

I always thought the Scottish banks did not need to print their own notes, just something they do to preserve their Scottish identity To anyone moaning about the English not wanting ours notes, would you accept an Northern Ireland note in your change ?

    Where Is Scotland

Years ago I had a problem at a bank in Madrid when the bank clerk was wanting to give me the lrish punt rate on my Scottish note . I was pointing to the word sterling on the note and she kept repeating Irelandes . I then asked for the chief , who came out and told the clerk to honour my notes with the superior sterling rate . The clerk still refused to complete the transaction and the chief , completed it himself . I do hope she wasn't disciplined over it. . On another occasion at the Bank of Bilbao they not only happily did the transaction but gave me a better rate than sterling .Musht have been shome mishtake. . ETA that bitch at the first bank certainly knew where Scotland was , most definitely. .

I am a female St Mirren fan but can I just say that the tittle tattle on here between grown men and women is ridiculous. It is really stupid talk and not about St Mirren. Grow up and be men please and stick to talking about St Mirren and not about spelling mistakes made by some, full stops in sentences or in other words grammar or slagging people for opinions to such an extent that it is verbal bullying. I don't agree with everyone either but I don't stoop so low as to belittle someone with such nasty nasty words. You don't know who you are replying to it could be a child or an elderly person but you are replying to a person. So come on guys stick to what the forum is about St Mirren

    St Mirren Under 20's 2015/16

I really hope that we start sending some of these lads out on loan to clubs in the first and second divisions as whilst they are promising we need them mixing with more toughened players. From reading various reports there are a number of that group that could be making the step up over the next 18 months, so it would be beneficial that we help then find their feet quickly by exposing them to first team competitive football.

    Silly Talk

Indeed, it seems there is a confusion between what is a "troll" and, so called "silly talk", a rather daft term anyway. The forum is very diverse, the idea that "we're all St Mirren supporters so we should all get on" or like what each other like is stunningly naive. It's the fact the forum is diverse that ensures it remains alive, one persons good post is another persons shite. We all use the forum for different reasons. "Good posters" is also very subjective as that's purely in the view of similarly minded members. "trolls" on the other hand, as we debated long and hard, is a continual issue, never really dealt with and so it goes on. I hope this is enough words to get me into the "good poster" team.

Merely serving you a taste of your own medicine. 1 defeat on after telling northstbuddie to take his negativity with him to Cappielow you now declare this game a season definer, and if we lose we'll be in the relegation mix.

I find it sad that despite regular fans requests, it took a UEFA demotion from Gold to Silver for Saints to act on this. The solution was always there... But a damned rating came before the comfort of people with disabilities. That is shameful. However... It is now being acted upon and I hope we learn from this and focus on punters over plaudits.

The experience at Linwood has been great and would definitely recommend heading back there for games if Dome has issues in the future. However, the Dome is our spiritual home. :-)
  18. 1 point
OK Guys , as you are no doubt aware , The Dome is back up . Confirmation from club today. So , Teamer invites have gone out for next week BASED ON THE LAST SQUAD TO PLAY IN THE DOME. I appreciate there will be a few disappointed Buds out there who have been playing at Linwood over the last few weeks , but it was made very clear that those games would be outwith the teamer list. Thank you to everyone for turning up , the reports on ON-X have been very favourable , who knows , might throw in the odd game there in future As before , lets get the replies in good & early & make sure you are all at the Dome on time.

How many fans do you think will go to away games after the initial period ? I wouldn't think there's too many could afford to travel abroad every other week, pay for accommodation and what will likely be much higher ticket prices. Sure the games would be on the telly but some people prefer to be at an actual game. Personally I think there's a lot of hypocrisy from the ex OF, they stitched up Scottish football to get what they wanted now they're moaning because it's happening to them, what goes around comes around.

The simple solution to all this Scotland /England pish , would be for the Scottish Government to annex England , you know , turn into a vassal state , simple. .

Disabled Platform For The Main Stand.

This is Div's post from the SMDSA sub-forum; Got this update today from Iain Laurie at the SMDSA; Since the January SMDSA meeting Johnny Clark and I have attended two meetings with Brian Caldwell (Chief Executive), Lynn Watson (Ticket Administrator) and Colin Haggerty and Alan Wardrop (both Fans Council) and Iain Brown (Paisley Pumps Ltd ) Phase 1 - Raised platform at rear of main stand When the Stadium was completed in 2009 it was built to comply with the Gold Standard. However the rules have been altered and because the Stadium does not have a raised viewing platform for 10 wheelchair spectators and carers it has been relegated to Silver Standard. Consequently the Club has decided to install a metal 10 wheelchair and carer platform situated in the press area at the back of the main stand. Access will be through the main doors, up in the lift and out past the PA announcers position. The club has acquired a quotation for the work from Paisley Pumps Ltd and have applied for a grant from the Scottish Football Partnership and this will be considered by them at their next meeting on 17th February. If this application is successful the work will be carried out during the close season. If it is not successful other types of funding will be pursued. Hopefully we will have good news for you at our next meeting on 22nd February. The Club intend that the platform will be for the use of and administered by SMDSA members only. We would obviously have to have a meeting in due course to decide on how we would organise the access in order that whatever system we decided would be both transparent and fair. The Club would inform all who apply for wheelchair season tickets at the time of purchase of this facility and the need to become a member of the SMDSA. Presumably this should result in us attracting new members. Phase 2 - Moveable shelters at the south west and south east corners of the ground The contractor who has quoted for the raised platform has agreed to investigate the various alternative types of shelter which could be adapted for our needs eg dugout type, bus shelters or bicycle shelters etc. The plan would be that the ground staff who removed the practice goals just before kick off would move the shelters in to position. Wheelchair spectators would purchase their seats as normal but the shelters would be there for use if the weather was particularly bad. Alan Wardrop is on the board of the St. Mirren Community Trust and has agreed along with me and Johnny to help organise an application for funds from various charitable trusts to cover the costs of the movable shelters. I trust the above is clear but if you have any queries feel free to contact me. Regards Iain Laurie (Secretary - SMDSA)

Who was in overall charge of over seeing the building of the stadium was it not Gordon Scott. Its easy to point the finger when so many things are going on when a stadium is being built. Obviously this is being corrected in other words the club have listened and are acting.

    Silly Talk

Yes mostly on silly talk. We can all do without the trolls but without the silly talk, forum traffic would be dramatically reduced and would possibly mean the end of the forum. . Over the years many a good poster has came and then gone . It also seems that some of the other good posters have reduced their traffic and rarely look in now. . The forum was better in yesteryear but nothing stays the same. .

I'll break this to you gently. If Stuart Dickson lowers his energy consumption then it ain't going to make much difference to the overall total in Scotland.
  39. 1 point
Typical that this one was televised. The **** had a rancid record at Love Street in those days, and this was 1 of only 2 wins they had in 15 league visits they had to us. Loads of great wins over them never made the telly.
  40. 1 point
The uncertainty of the source combined with the lack of storage was always the problem. You cannot guarantee a consistent supply of electricity if there's no wind and no ability to use energy generated from the last windy day. As I've told you before I work in an industry where we are lowering consumption in supermarkets, hospitals, large offices, building societies and huge department stores and we've had plenty of success. Even Fergus Ewing has seen the successes first hand and tried to score some publicity of the back of the work we do. Yet still all government funding is pumped into wind generation rather than - for example - subsidising LED lights.

I am with you fan4ever. There are far too many trogolodytes posting on perfectly good threads. This should limit themselves to their own threads and allow folks who do not appreciate their knuckle-dragging posts and silly comments to read decent posts in peace. There is room for both but not necessilarly on the same thread. in particular the use of foul language is not appreciated. I will now wait for the flak!!! And I don't expect much support.

The thing is the value placed on the Club, as it returns no dividend, is not directly tied into the value of the league. it is not a elastic market, where external factors directly and immediatley impact a price, and that is what makes football clubs a special case of economic entity
