The session went really well - Jack gave a presentation on power point on how he is approaching the training regime . This involved a number of different slides showing the work on formations etc. A good example of his and James preparations was for the recent game v Ayr . They studied a number of games Ayr played including video footage and this revealed Ayr were narrow in Midfield so that is why Saints played more wide . James also showed how they are using new technology at Ralston ( supplied by the Fans Council) . This involved showing players receiving , trapping and shooting. They have also moved tactical boards to Ralston and are creating a specialised area. On the Q& A most of the time was spent on squad depth , fitness , confidence . Jack did feel that his first impressions are the squad is imbalanced as we don't have left side defence or enough midfield cover . Additional insight was provided re the approach to January and with the board present that was most helpful. The management feel the team are growing in confidence and the Ayr result helped . The team believe that they are better than many of the teams above are committed to getting vital league points starting Sat . Jack , James and the board thanked the fans for their recent vocal support as they feel it is really making a difference .

Not-sacking Danny Lennon has turned out to be a new low for us as club! Telling a cup-winning manager who had just finished 8th in the SPL after the final home game of the season that he was not getting a contract extension when his contract expired 2 weeks later was greeted as the ultimate bit of thriftiness by the old board - we got rid of a manager without needing to make any kind of pay out. How did that one work out for us again? Heading for a 3rd season in a row without a home win before Christmas and 2nd relegation in 3 years?

    Need some help for Saturday

It makes you think that there should be a thread on this forum or official website where individuals who live in towns such as East Kilbride could get in touch with fellow buds from the same area and car share on occasions if needs be. I know Griff organised a football tournament through in Stirling about 20 years ago and put 2 St Mirren supporting friends who both commuted through from the fife area to St Mirren games and they are now best mates. :-) I am sure the club could even get involved in some sort of database / app set up where people could get in touch with other buds and travel to games and make the match day experience that wee bit better for fans. I am sure there are hundreds of buds who attend games from far and wide who wouldn't mind the company every now and then on their commute to and from St Mirren defeats. ;-) I think there is a lot mileage in this for someone in that line of work because every football club, rugby club etc could have their own app and link their supporters to fellow fans living far from the team they support. Maybe something for Div and the likes to work on. :-)

    We Are Down

A new low was exactly how I described it at full time and it all started before the match kicked off. My son pointed out to me that while Dunfermline were doing a drill that they usually do where five players try to retain possession while being chased around by two players, St Mirren were struggling to retain possession with six players to pass to and only one doing the chasing. The only way to have made the St Mirren drill any easier would have been to have had them all stood round in a circle passing it to each other, and even then I doubt they'd have been able to retain possession. This was basic, basic stuff and St Mirren's squad of "full time professionals" couldn't handle it. Dreadful stuff. Then the game kicks off. There's the usual wee bit of promise. McAllister does well to get to the bye line and whips in a great cross which Sutton heads wide. Then it all goes to f**k. Honestly, it feels like I say this every time I watch him, but did Mallan complete a single pass? He did plenty of strutting around with his chest out pointing for other players to do his work for him, but he didn't look remotely interested from where I was sitting. An absolute shirker and to think he was allowed to stay on the park for 90 minutes whilst McGennis and Clarkston were taken off. Both centre halves missed crucial and simple headers - cringe worthy stuff. Naismith had one of his worst performances to date, and there's been plenty of competition this season from him. Honestly if Jack Ross is struggling to find a full back to replace him he should PM me. I could get him two in time for next week - one of them is fat, bald, 46 years old, knees are f**ked, and gets out of breath walking down the stairs to the toilet but I seriously doubt I could do worse or be less effective in the right back position. Shankland! From the other end of the pitch I'd give him top marks for that dive. f**k me, with that cheat around Tom Daley would have his work cut out to hold on to his medal. How Gary Irvine and John Sutton must be relived they've already made a living from football cause they must surely realise that after this season their careers are over. And then to compound everything else there's a Dunfermline squad, manager and coaching staff so shite that they've watched this piss poor St Mirren side and they've decided that instead of going for it and racking up a decent cricket score, they've opted instead to time waste in the most appalling, obvious way possible. Why the f**k bother. The poor folk who'd come along to watch were sitting freezing - St Mirren could have played for hours and still not threatened. Why the f**k prolong it? I worked a 60 hour week this week, 5 x 12 hour night shifts, the last of which ended this morning at 6am. It's been a tough week since all the major retailers are preparing for Christmas and they want all their HVAC plant and lighting working properly. On one of my two days off, before I start another 60 hour week, I chose to keep my son company at the football paying what is reportedly the top price in the Scottish Championship for my ticket. And as a reward I get to watch that heartless, gutless, talentless, turgid pish. It might be a while before I bother going back!

You'll not hear me disagreeing with you on any of that... Sadly it is all about how we turn things around from where we are now. We're huffing and puffing with no end product on the evidence of tonight. As I've said above, my first thought from what I've seen there is that I'd have Morgan on the right and McAllister on the left as proper wingers and Sutton up top with only job being putting the ball in net. The highlights at the end there had the significant majority of chances for us. Sadly in between, in open play Dunfermline always looked more dangerous. I think we really are too light weight and missing perhaps two strong players at centre half and central midfield - to shore up the defence and provide a bit of steel to let the youngsters play in the middle of the park respectively. Perhaps I'm being too positive, the league table doesn't lie, but that's the first things that I would do to try and sort...

Well I for one did not expect Jack Ross to suddenly turn into the Messiah on his arrival to a team that was unbalanced, had no confidence, no tactics or formation and more than its fair share of shit players. (Thanks for that Mr Rae). Especially when the first two games under his tenure were Hibs and Dundee Utd. However there have been substantial improvements since then and we have now beaten Ayr and although we were beaten by Dumbarton we were by far the better team and missed a barrowload of chances. Confidence is returning; we now start games with players knowing what they are supposed to be doing instead of long hoofball, and the young lads Ross has brought in have been exceptional. It won't be easy today but I have a feeling today is the day for 3 points.

Our turn in fortunes in the league starts today. I hope everybody who attends tonight's game gets behind the team from the off and backs them throughout. This is a massive game for saints. Win this and we are back in there. If everybody turns up this evening and gives it their all in backing the team then I am sure we will see the benefits on the park. Please bring your positive, vocal backing to the game tonight. #backthebuds PS Stop with the bullying of Topcat. We are all saints fans so take a deep breath, let it pass and breathe again. ;-)

    Need some help for Saturday

Thanks EK but I am sure plenty of others would have volunteered - I just saw the request soon after it was posted by ES. And there are some dicks on this forum but there are also many, many unsung heroes who fully support the Club, their fellow Buds and their fellow human beings. This week some guys finishing washing down every single seat in the stadium for the Club and fellow Buds and Away supporters. A guy that sits behind me volunteered to help some veterans from Erskine last week. He is also helping to organise a foodbank collection at the stadium before Xmas. Also in the last few weeks some fans have provided expertise and money to help with the disabled platform and some offered their practical services to help a fellow Bud who had an ongoing dispute. These are just a few examples that I am aware of over the last few weeks. I can think of loads more examples of Buds helping the Club and fellow Buds. Some spend all their time bumping their gums and criticising everything about the Club but the unsung heroes let their actions do their talking for them. That is what it is to be a fan and a Buddie.

All I can say is it was men against boys, pushed and bullied all over the park by seasoned pros. They knew exactly what they were doing. We have potentially some youngsters who could go far, but they have been dragged into the mire. We must bring in experienced defenders ,midfielders to help the youngsters. Falkirk away next,I'm afraid this team as it is will be slaughtered now I'm going to my bed,my curry was shit.only positive I was in the company of a smashing big fella ,Buddie in EK.Thank you. We're going down. Could have played all day and not scored. Ref was horrendous but not why we lost. Two games at home against the two teams above us and we can't manage a goal or a point. We've conceded first in 12 of our 13 league games so far and are now winless in 15 league games. The club record is 17. Was the tagline for our new kit "Make history" or some similar nonsense?

What started as a comment about the passing of an ex football player that just happened to play for Rangers, turns into an embarrassing slagging match. Does it really matter what club he played for???? The guy was only 44 and probably left a wife and family behind. It amazes me when I read on here about the disgust aimed toward how the fans of the old firm (yeah, I know someone will pick me up for that) behave. Kettle and pot springs to mind.

This is it; the day the league season turns for us - victory here brings us 2 points behind Dunfermline with a game in hand and if Raith beat Dumbarton then we will be 3 points off the safety of 8th place. Like many, I got a real boost from the performance against Ayr (surely we can catch them too - they're mince) - with real shoots of recovery also seen in the unfortunate defeat to Dumbarton. Come on Saints - give us a league win today!

That was soul destroying stuff. They were an average side with their keeper having a few smart saves to stop us getting back into the game but on the whole you felt we could have played allday and failed to score. Disappointed we didn't start the way we finished last week as today's first half was similar to last week with two poor sides struggling to find any rythm. We were lucky if we could pass 3 or passes together before losing it. Dunfermline were average but stronger in the tackle and streetwise / ugly all over the pitch unlike us. You do have to worry as we don't have a Broadfoot, Murray, Turner, Millen or gritty leader in the squad who will set the bench mark and drive the team forward put the tackle in and set the tone for the team. Everyone keeps saying we will make changes in January that will help the team but we must be financially crippled at the moment. Christ! Only 2100 there tonight. :-( Pars will be averaging over a 1000 more than us with United, Hibs, Raith and Falkirk bringing massive supports to their patch. I thought we had bottomed out but sadly not yet. We aren't down yet but it's up to us the supporters to stand up and be counted. This is when the club need us more than ever so keep the DD's going and stay positive buddies it has to turn at some point. Doesn't it? :-(

The goal we lost was horrible. A terrible floated cross straight to where Naismith was standing when the cross was hit, but Jason wasn't watching the ball at the time and chose to chase his man out of the box and left a gap, Baird gets pulled out of position trying to put in a last ditch challenge covering for Naismith and leaves a hole in the centre where Clark taps in what transpires to be the winner. If Naismith had looked where the ball was and stayed put he would have had a really easy header and that would have been the end of the move that led to Dunfermline's goal.

The painful thing is that had we started that game with the effort and urgency we finished with then we probably would have won. We are now in the habit of losing games that in all reality we didn't deserve to lose. I'm starting to believe the writing is on the wall, but I am reluctant to dwell on that thought as the minute the players believe that then we are down for sure. Right now they are still trying... just nothing is going our way. The Keeper today was our best player, Mallan is looking for the ball and trying to lead the midfield, and young McAllistair played well till he tired. Still cannot believe we lost that game or how dire the first half was.

Absolute shambles. No pass marks for a single one of them. Lacking in basic skills such as passing and taking up appropriate positions. Poor crossing and final ball in general. Although the midfield has flashes of skill, it's too inconsistent with every one of them frequently just running with the ball straight into one of their players. Cannot see any way out of this unless something radical is done.

Believe it or not i've loved travelling up over the years. Might feel different if i had to suffer most weeks like most of you. Had some great trips over the years and dragged a few along with me. Trips tend to be quieter nowadays. Generally come up with my daughter who is only into saints because i've took her over the years. She's actually keener than i am these days. Still enjoy half a dozen trips a season however.

Cheers Drew. Glad we made some money for Yorkhill but I would still have loved to have seen DVZ run on to the pitch wearing a black and white striped mankini And I do believe there is a good sense of community within the fanbase. One that should be encouraged to help the Club, fellow supporters and the wider community. And due to Mr Zo's suggestion I stay a few miles outside Beith towards Kilwinning. Times are tough if you are a Saints Fan, Player, Coach, Manager, Director or Staff Member. No one can doubt that. Time alone will tell if this is the bottom of our cycle. Whatever, I am along for the ride. I have had some great times watching this club over the last 42 years. And some very low points. But - I am committed to the club and will remain so. Its a shame that they don't have the Under 12 tickets available for our area in the main stand - they are available everywhere else after all. It'll be £34 for me and the boy to take our season ticket seats (would probably have been £27 or £28 if the U12 option was available). Might consider going to the family stand (£22) as a one off. But after the punch to the gut taken today - we might give this one a miss. This will be our first missed home game of the season. The wife and I are out at a show on Saturday evening and it was going to be a mad rush anyway - the alternative of a nice and slow pre-theatre meal with the occasional check-up of the score and performance on B&WA sounds very appealing at the moment. Apologies if that sounds traitorous - feeling a bit sorry for myself just now...

You only have to look at how the colt teams did in the Irn Bru cup against League 1 and 2 teams this season to see that throwing most of our eggs in the youth development basket might not improve results much. Please can we hire some scouts to find us decent players in their mid-20s?
