What were the plans? Sin bin in one corner, a soundproof room in another corner to hide all the politically correct individuals we have on here who find fault in all sorts of irrelevant (funny and sometimes Not funny) comments from anyone they disprove of. Sounds like we need a coffee shop in another and possibly a gym in the final one. Not to forget the car auction in the car park, every other week with a car boot in between and off season we can run rock concerts and if we put flat roofs on the stands we could start a helicopter taxi service. Hows that for starters?

    Hayden Coulson - Confirmed

Welcome to St Mirren. Haven’t a scooby about you, but I haven’t a scooby about pretty much anyone around the club these days, so don’t take it personally.

Maybe, maybe not. Years ago a girlfriend who was a chef was asked to open a wee place in Hillington as much as to showcase kitchen equipment that the company was selling. The place took off as there were few places in an Industrial Estate that people could go to except vans. We have Industrial Estates across the road and a steady flow of folk going down to buy tickets/ merchandise. I took a starter motor down to a place next to Greenhill Rd recently and had to wait an hour for them to fix it. I asked where the nearest cafe was and discovered it was the High St. The idea is worth investigation I reckon.

    St. Mirren Park.

Yes I do. The day we beat Rangers on Christmas eve and the day we beat Celtic 4-1 as well as Billy Mehmet slotting home a penalty to defeat Celtic 1-0 in the Scottish cup were very special occasions. Also the day we lifted the Scottish Championship trophy to return us to the top division, all of these occasions culminate in making our wee stadium very special, very special indeed.

Doesn't really make much sense to me. If another team want him, and we want to keep him, then they'd need to pay for him as he's under contract.

I think one of the problems is that we have not had the chance to see any friendlies , or get any idea of how the new players are bedding in , I,m actually quite exiting about the team we are trying to put together , all seem young fit , and with a point to prove .

    St. Mirren Park.

Many of the W7 guys and most of the kids in the south stand will have very little memory of love street . This is their time and they will grow up loving the new place as much as most of us loved Love street . For me ,it is getting better but will never replace the old place in my heart.

    St. Mirren Park.

Fond memories of Love Street , European nights , cup games some amazing league games. Feel totally comfortable at the digital arena clear views of the pitch. Facilities Love Street could only dream of having, train station on it's door step. Gordon Scott has plans to make it even better hopefully Alan Stubbs brings a brand of football that brings more people to watch St Mirren.

Sticking to my opinion of middle of last season that he has a decent chance of being the most capped Scotland player to start out at St Mirren. Archie Gemmill got 43. Probably the most goals too.

There are very few wingers who are comfortable with both feet have genuine pace and score loads of goals as well as making many assists. Lewis Morgan has it all, I’ll stick my neck out and say that he’ll end up at a top club in the English Premiership.

A friend of mine of many years, has a season ticket for himself & 2 kids for Firhill. Following renewal (Yes, we know they got relegated!) - They received a call from Chris Erskine (Capt) & another player to thank them for their support! I thought that was brilliant & a good display of keeping fans on board. (Made a kids day I would expect) Should other clubs (Ours??) try a similar approach?

A new manager has the right to build his own squad. I will always be thankful to the players who contributed to getting us up last season but at the same time I’m looking forward to our season in the top flight, new signings and the Stubbs era. I think we can judge after quarter of the season. Until then let’s enjoy the ride

I'm thinking a back three of Baird, Heaton and Kpekawa with the other two as wing backs. Four at the back just isn't cool at the moment. Given the lack of experience of our options I am thinking 6 at the back and two goalies.

Conference and training area should be invested in , Dumbarton do ok from this business and we are better situated for it being next to an airport and motorway. Or even renting bar , restaurant area out for weddings or funerals as St Jonnies do.

Filling in the corners would improve the overall atmosphere (and appearance) of the ground even if the new sections didn't consist of more occupied seats. I imagine GS will be thinking of any additional ways to generate income over and above additional capacity. It will be interesting to see what the plans are. Sadly, I don't think the club will have the foresight and entrepreneurial wherewithal to consider installing a running track, however.

Typical Morgan goal. Takes it from own half into box cut inside and slip it past keeper. Much as he is playing for them I will watch his career as I genuinely think he will go much further than the scottish leagues.

I had the privilege and pleasure of having a chat with Lewis after the Morton game when we were presented with the Championship Trophy whilst my wife had her picture taken with him.I said to him that he had made thousands of fans so happy with his fantastic displays for us and he thanked me most sincerely. He just appeared to be such a well spoken intelligent young man and is blessed with superb talent a player who can dribble and score goals with either foot. I have to say that in over sixty years of supporting Saints he is to me one of the finest players to wear the black and white stripes.

I have no problem with Stubbs ripping the squad apart and rebuilding with his own players. I dont think its healthy to inherit and keep someone elses squad. You get more from players who sign for you. What has to happen is that we get better quality through the door. I wait to see what our squad looks like come August.

Of course there will be some who are unhappy how would you feel if a manager told you to find a new job you are not in his plans . There has been four bad eggs created by the manager it is in his interest to get them removed as soon as possible. There is a huge turnover taking place I'm sure those in Stubbs plans will be as happy as ever. Would be helpful if you could step down from the drama box and let us all look forward to the season ahead it's on the park which will tell it's true story.

    ES Clydebank

I came across the ES Clydebank thing a few months ago when I was reading up on Clydebank and Old Airdrieonians/Airdrie United/New Airdrieonians. I didn't know much about the ES Clydebank story so it was good to read this article, very informative for me. Has there been many mergers through the days of Scottish football? The first one that springs to mind is Inverness Thistle and Caledonian FC. Looks more likely that clubs get bought over instead of merged, looking at Clydebank/Airdrie and the Ferranti Thistle/Meadowbank Thistle/Livingston situations. Compared to Belgium it seems quite minimal. Belgium has seen plenty of mergers though the years, one of the best examples of recent years would be SK Zulte and KSV Waregem, who merged in 2001. Zulte-Waregem have done well from this, qualifying for Europe on a few occasions, winning the Belgian Cup twice, and league runners up in 2012/13. Elsewhere, in the last decade Royal Excelsior Mouscron went bust. The Mouscron name managed to merge with RRC Peruwelz. After three promotions as Mouscron-Peruwelz they got rid of the Peruwelz name and are now known as Royal Excel Mouscron. Each club in Belgium has a "matricule". This is a number is given to the club when they gain Belgian FA membership. When clubs are merged only one matricule can survive, so in the case of SV Zulte (5381) and KSV Waregem (4451), KSV's financial problems lead to them having to merge with SV Zulte. As a result SV Zulte's matricule 5381 continued, and the new club Zulte-Waregem took on the history of SV Zulte. KSV Waregem were dissolved and known to cease to exist with their matricule now defunct. It also allows the merged club to take on the league position of that matricule, so here Zulte-Waregem took the place of SV Zulte. With a system as straight as this, had it existed in Scotland Rangers FC could have found a merger, potentially kept their place in the SPL, and have much stronger claims to their history as it would remain with the matricule. A decent number of current clubs in Belgium are direct results of mergers. Certainly appears to be on a much larger scale than Scotland, which leads me to wonder what mergers have happened in the Scottish leagues.
