    Welcome Matty Willock

Fantastic signing. As I follow ManUtd, I've seen this lad play a number of times for the reserves on MUTV. Great big athletic lad who likes to carry the ball forward. He is also a threat from headers via set-pieces.

    Stubbsy Says...........Goodbye

It seems to me some people's dislike of Stubbs is just that- a dislike of Stubbs. It's the only reason I can think of that could make someone judge a manager in a new job before a ball is kicked (league), and when a much needed rebuilding job is not yet completed. Managers used to get 1 or 2 years to build a team before they got judged, now it seems it's 1 or 2 games.

Looks like a great signing. Look forward to the comments from the fans who had a meltdown over Ian McShane being told he can go. [emoji23]

    Did we sign anyone today?

I see a few folk on twitter ready for a meltdown because his wiki said he’s 5ft 8 and Stubbs has said he’s 6ft 1 or so. Turns out Stubbs is right. Folk really need to get a grip and take a look at themselves. It’s turning into a tidal wave of unnecessary negativity - waiting to pounce at any and every opp to have a go at Stubbs. Sad days.

    Welcome Matty Willock

JR said we'd need more physicality in the Premiership. Dare I say it, I think Willock would be his kind of signing. On top of that, a good sign that we've seemingly persuaded him to come to us rather than return to St Johnstone.

Mate most of my posts are in support of Alan Studs. One of the last posts I made was the board should support Stubbs by brining in players it's in my history. But will Stayaway Saint quote that ? NO chance . I spend money on Saints like most of us on here does Stayaway ? not a chance it's not too difficult for him to get to games. The excuse St Mirren fans shout abuse at players. That proves he has not been in a long time. Anyway each to their own but don't come on and point the finger when he does not commit of other fans who do go and commit

    4 told they can leave

So why mention the press conference then[emoji849] The issue is st Mirren “fans” trying to constantly stir up conspiracies against Stubbs It’s hardly a major problem if Stubbs told 4 players they are free to find new clubs he’s not the 1st and certainly won’t be the last manager to do that if he believes he can have a better alternative in place he will live with that decision if it pays off or not. 2 off they 4 player have already been given the opportunity to impress I’m sure it won’t come to much of a shock to any St Mirren fan that the possibility of Mackenzie and eckersley being injured might be true. Maybe eckersley might be the one that’s got the issues and causing problems refusing to play because he holds a grudge against Stubbs for releasing him at hibs another conspiracy theory some could run with but I very much doubt that they have their own agenda against Stubbs already. I don’t care for the guessing at what’s going on I care that Stubbs puts a decent squad together this season and we stay up playing some nice football in the process would be good also.

I think what is very noticable is the difference in his demeanor compaired to his interviews after a game with Jimbo With Jimbo he is frustrated and looks like he doesnt want to talk ( fair enough) When in a more relaxed situation and the lead up to a game he does come across more upbeat

Midfield is probably our strongest area. We obviously need a striker but also at least two defenders, we currently have only five and four of them are youngsters!

Dunno if it's still the case but the Old Course at St Andrews used to be closed to golfers on a Sunday, the only exceptions being if it was the Open or another tournament such as the Dunhill. Members of the public are able to wander about the course (although a few bits are roped off). Can't be too many iconic sporting venues that allow you such access for free at such a prime time of the week!

    Welcome Matty Willock

Stubbs claims on the comments on the official site that he is 6ft1 or 2. Could be an interesting formation with Flynn, McGinn, Willock and Magennis all vying for a central role, throw in Cammy Smith's best position just off the striker we seen to have plenty of central players but no natural wide players on either side with King and Kellerman not looking like first picks. If McGinn doesn't move from Hibs could we be forced to sell Kyle before the window closes?

I think Stubbs probably got ekersley to lie down so the new signing can stand on him since he’s so cruel...... Stubbs is supposedly 6’2 yet Willock looks taller

    Stubbsy Says...........Goodbye

I don’t actually believe anyone on here wants Stubbs to fail. Some don’t like the appointment, some don’t like the signings, some don’t like way he’s gone about his business and some don’t like the way we’ve played so far. Thing is, whether these people put their view across in a constructive manner or a hysterical rant they are badged as “negative” or “wallopers”, the battle lines are drawn and the snidey name calling and bickering begins. As for waiting to “point and laugh” at people because they don’t agree with you?THAT is embarrassing IMO. If years of prowling around on here have given you some sort of elevated perspective of all this then why not rise above it and let it blow over rather than being the first one to jump in with the sarcasm and emojis? Let me tell you why. You f**king love it. Find something you don’t agree with? Call the person a walloper. They respond with an equally ridiculous insult? You escalate and so on ad nauseum until you have a gazillion posts. The forum is always more active when things aren’t going well. I guess that’s human nature but everyone wants one thing and that is for us to win football matches irrespective of who plays for us or manages us. Other than that I agree with everything you said.

by then he had to deal with a resurgent St Mirren, and a stodgy Dundee United (for 2/3 of the season). The point I would make about Stubbs at Hibs is if you look beyond the main headline about winning the first Scottish Cup in aeons and doing that as a Championship club his two years there have lots of positives and negatives - Lennon has a bigger budget and has added a few expensive signings but finished 4th in the premiership with a team based on Stubbs squad who never reached a play off final despite the strength of squad at his disposal.

I fully expected Hibs to compete for the title when they relegated, as would anyone really. They made a terrible start to the season that suggested they were looking to be relegated again. Most Hibs fans I have seen offer an opinion on Stubbs say they are certain he would have been fired but for the cup run & at times things were brutal. On paper his record is awful. It is a terrible decision by the board, but I will be praying that he finds his feet with us and things start to improve quickly!

The thing is, Hearts were a massive 21pts clear of Hibs that season. That's not an acceptable gap, they should have been much closer to each other. As you mention, the second season should have been playoff success. Never understood the "eye off the ball" regarding cup runs. Surely with a final at stake, each player would be doing his absolute best to stake his place in the starting XI come final day?

    4 told they can leave

I see this mentioned time and again but it's a bit lazy to be honest as it completely misses the context of the other side of the story - that being the competition he was up against. Season 1 - they were up against a Hearts team that had an equally impressive squad, presumably budget, and really got their house in order after relegation. Also a Rangers team who had a far bigger budget - albeit they were in a mess. Season 2 - Rangers starting to get their house in order and still a much bigger budget than Hibs. We can look enviously at the squad he assembled and think of it as an embarrassment of riches but truth is, they were never favourites for the title. I'd accept that they should have got to the play-off final in Season 2 but I can imagine they took their eye off the ball with the prospect of the Cup Final. We only have to look at our own club for how performances skewed due to the build-up/hangover of a Cup Final.

Can't say I rated Neil Lennon as a manager until last season. The treble was there for the taking with Celtic and he couldn't manage it with Sevco fannying about in the lower leagues (we can take credit for ruining one of those trebles). Same goes for Deila, treble should have been a piece of piss. Bolton was a tough ask (like Stubbs at Rotherham), and Lennon was shite there. Getting Hibs promoted was no surprise, what impressed me was how quickly they found themselves back up the top end of the SPL table and pushing Aberdeen and Sevco close. I know Hibs are a Top 5 budget side, but the transition from Championship to Premiership was excellent. I do think Lennon is overhyped, Hibs is the first club he seems to be achieving better than expected.

Yes and when the trams got to the roundabout at Linwood (where there was a depot) the conductor came along and switched the back of the seats so all the seats pointed towards the direction of travel and they trundled off back up to Glasgow. Thanks for that, I think at the time I must have been 4 or 5 so Linwood was far tooooooo BIG a place for wee yin like me on my own certainly

I appreciate its probably a typo, however Gus never won the cup. Its probably the main reason most fans lost patience with him. No. Gus was binned because of negative football and aiming for 11th place, whilst teams around us like St Johnstone and Hamilton came up and finished higher! He also seemed to love defensive centre mids!

DL had a coupla bad starts and then changed tactics to shitfest mode late Sept/early Oct IIRC. It's still a bit early for some of the Armageddon comments I've been reading.
