    Reality check

FFS we've all known for months the team OK inherited was one of "if not the worst" in over 3O years and we've had some seriously shit teams in that time, our only hope was to stay in touch until the January transfer window and by some miracle we have, on the plus side he's got the team competitive and at least well organised from the total shambles when he took over and thank feck he brought in Anton, Jackson and Hamill because they're the reason we've managed to stay with the pack........... I'm fully expecting big changes during the TW and I also think Oran will guide us to safety, we should just be thankful that we've still in with a great shout of salvaging this season after the fcuking shambles Stubbs got us into...

Yesterday summed up what most seasons in the top flight have been like since the heady days of the 1980’s. A stuffy team with no pace or cutting edge and few options off the bench to change anything. Anyone who thinks this will miraculously change in January is kidding themselves on. I’m not saying we’ll go down but it’s going to be a complete shitshow until the end of the season with more days like that and the odd performance scattered here and there. Forget Stubbs. Has OK really shown us anything to suggest that bringing 4 or 5 in will make a significant difference? He stood on the sidelines yesterday with his entourage of coaches and watched his team drop deeper and deeper as we inexorably sloped toward what we all knew was coming and come it did. There are too many not cut out for this level and I’m not seeing any signs that we’re on the cusp of fixing it with a few more players. I’ll still be there at Rugby Park on Saturday and Kearney has my full support but the second half of the season is going to be tough unless he has a better plan to put workmanlike teams like St Johnstone under a bit of pressure, particularly at home.

St Johnstone have won their last five away without conceding having visited Aberdeen, Hibs, Livi and Motherwell prior to playing us...…..no great surprise that they were difficult to break down, I think what most thought was that we competed quite well against a good, resolute side.

I keep reading posts about the behaviour of OF fans at St Mirren Park. That is total irrelevant IMO. Why would that alter how Saints fans behave? I know a Celtic fan who has given up going to OF away games because of the behaviour of his fellow supporters. He hates the fact that they won’t sit down and their general thuggish behaviour. Why are Saints fans bothered about that? Just let them get on with it. It’s not our problem. As for sectarian chants, again, just let them get on with it. It doesn’t offend me. I’m not religious and I know that neither are 99.9% of the people at these games. So why should it offend me? They are making fools of themselves. Let them!

The fact is the team Stubbs assembled would have been relegated from the Championship, never mind the Premiership. Kearney is doing his best to get a team together that is hard to beat. Of course he is going to bring every man back for corners and free kicks given how poor we were at defending them. I do believe we will be a stronger outfit come January, the problems are clear to see and Gus has been brought in to help fix that. There will at least be significant movement in the squad.

If he’s only just started getting games for us, he’s hardly going to be a fringe player at Southampton it’ll be straight back into the U23s. He’ll develop better here playing against adults than fellow kids. Clubs are going to look at the individual, not just look at him and say “oh he got relegated with St Mirren, he must be shite”. Jordan Pickford was part of a Sunderland side leaking goals all over, but bigger clubs could see that was more down to a shite team as a whole, and Pickford himself stood out as a good player. How much do you think Paul Dummett benefitted from being with us for a whole season? To ask for a return when getting games here would be to say, I haven’t got the bottle to deal with this.

I posted the average wages paid by Premiership Clubs in 2017 on the Forum. I agree about the managers. They do select well and they do give them time. No argument from me either on the size and/or composition of our squad. Looking back achieves nothing, nor does adopting a "woe is me" approach. We are, perhaps surprisingly, still in the mix in a bottom group of 4. Onwards and hopefully upwards.

Lets be quite clear no team has really horsed us this year apart from the Tynecastle and Pittodrie results. We were most unfortunate in a few games at home in particular St Johnstone Rangers Aberdeen Hibs and Killie.Recently one manager said apart from Celtic teams are capable of results against each other. There is no doubt whatsoever in the few weeks in charge Stubbs managed to assemble a questionable squad and deflate a few of our Chamionship squad notably Cammy Smith whose confidence he managed to destroy. There is no doubt the bulk of our support rate Cammy indeed I consider we were very fortunate to acquire his services from The Dons.I thought Cammy tried ever so hard against The Perth Saints and should not have been hooked for Flynn. All said I think we have more than an even chance of retaining our Premier status this season and the Window will be interesting. With the right additions I am more than hopeful.COYS.

I suppose it's the case with most teams who average 3-4k home fans, and add in a team that never ran up massive debt's or had a sugar Daddy bankrolling them, 3 big cup wins and 4 2nd tier league championships isn't too bad.

Unbelievable stuff - The Fakes are a regular top 6 team for the past decade or so and we entered this big boys league in chaos. With this squad, competing against ANY top 6 team is going to be very difficult indeed. OK and the team have pulled out a win against Hearts, and a draw against Tic from the top half - and he has organised a rabble of players who are not at the level of most of our rivals into managing to stay in touch. Yesterday we nearly grabbed a point and it was sore to lose the game in the last minute, but a 1 v 0 defeat against a team which is equipped so much better than us is no disaster at this stage. Give OK a break, and let's see how much the BOD back him to bring in much needed improvements - imagine if this guy could get some decent players in (a bit like the 4 he conjured up WHEN the transfer window was closed). Hope we all enjoy our football more in 2019 and the team goes from weakness to strength...

Oh well, another opportunity to scrape a point lost. Some decent post match assessments on here and I agree that whilst it was a decent perfotmance we were never going to score. I thought the team looked worse after Flynn came on and whilst the fakes did look like they were recovering from an excess of festive cheer they were the only team that looked like winning. That said it was a cruel blow to lose the goal so late. On the plus side we're still in it and I got a night in Paisley because of the train chaos. After too many pints in the Howf and an excess of curry in Moss St I feel as lethargic as a fakes player. Feck that was definitely a missed opportunity. See you all Sat for a doing at Kilmarnock.

Yesterday for me was an example of how low expectations have fallen among some of our support. We lost at home to St Johnstone without creating a single decent chance. Yet there seemed to be a large section of our fanbase who thought we played well. Amazingly low expectations if losing at home to St Johnstone without even nearly scoring is seen as ‘playing well’.

I was in favour of bringing Gus aboard; I think it's a good appointment and structurally a sound strategy. But if the business hasn't yet been done, I'd be very keen on finding out what the hell he's been doing

If it’s not about boys running up and down stairs , then why the f**k is that the central premise of the statement ? If there are individuals or groups who are threatening to ruin it for everyone else , why not come out and explicitly state who this is, what they are doing that so concerns the club and how it may affect the general support , the stadium and it’s rulings ? If individuals or groups of supporters are deliberately ignoring the ground rules or damaging the reputation of the club I would expect them to be dealt with in accordance with the stadium rules and laws of the land. Perhaps if they do this they may find they have to apply these rules evenly to ensure that ALL fans in our stadium have to “toe the line .“ which would mean asking 3200 old scum fans to sit down , stop displaying offensive banners , singing songs with questionable and offensive lyrics and not to run to or over the barriers when they score. I am a great supporter of the current regime at the club but I’m of the opinion that my support should not be taken for granted and where I disagree with something ,I will take issue and question it until I get a response which i feel is fair , balanced and in the best interest of this club and most importantly of its supporters

If that's the scoreline your on about your correct, but at least we looked far more organised and competitive than a few months ago so OK is getting something right but there's no denying we lack quality in just about every area of the park. A good transfer window is a must or we'll be well and truly fecked...

I wouldn't fault anyone for effort today and I don't think there is any team selection or formation that would have made a difference. The problem is we just don't have the quality to win these type of games. Recruitment in January is going to be vital

Leave the doom and gloom to others. We were promoted. We lost two managers. We are now on our third and yet still in touch in the bottom four in the league. I have the feeling that had Livvy been down here with us then people might not be reacting so strongly. Time to man up on the field and in the stands. Nobody said this was going to be easy.

Another daft announcement on the Official Site. Maybe if the stewards enforced the no-standing policy when all teams visit rather than worry about a few wee boys running up and down the stairways they would get more respect.

I fully appreciate what you are saying, but talk that some of their players are going (Tait for 1) and football being the strange thing that it is - a few bad results and some internal squabbles and all of a sudden who knows. On paper they are too good, but in terms of points at the change of year, they are definitely not safe. All 4 teams will look to change some staff - the outcome of this will affect each club for sure. Whoever does the worst will be in trouble..

    We are Not detached

I'll be surprised if Motherwell finish last - I don't see Hamilton, us & Dundee all passing them. We are cliche of having 18 Cup Finals to play, we're not gonna win them all and no doubt we'll see plenty of gloating from @elvis when we lose some of the games along the way. The most 2 important of the remaining 18 games will be the H2Hs against Hamilton who are only above us due to taking 6 points from the 2 H2Hs already played - if we can take 4 points (a win and a draw) from these 2 games we will be a long way to finishing 10th which would be a decent finish for our first season. back in the top flight ******************** Moving slightly off-topic it'll be a big blow if the rumours of Ferdinand leaving turn out to be correct. I feel/hope it would be in his best interests to stay with us unless he has a much better offer in the background as at this stage in his career he seems to me to be physically at his limits at our level with his experience compared to his fellow CHs and the increased composure this brings to the defence his biggest asset for us. Still if he does go we can't complain as he has clearly given 100% over the last few months.

On a player by player basis I might agree with you but any one of the 4 teams at the bottom could finish last. Two games ago there were 60 points left to play for. We have taken 3 points from two games. At that rate we could add 30 points or so to what we have. Typically 42 points is safe.

I think we’ll need 30 points to avoid the bottom two which means we need 18 from 18 games. Not insurmountable but consider we’ve only taken 12 from a possible 60 and you see the size of the task.

Yep , Guilty . This is what happens when I post with Wine Goggles. I accept that this was an added issue but still the club felt it worthy of mention as an individual issue. That said , I stand by the rest of my statement . The club have a responsibility for the safety of ALL persons within the stadium and that the stadium rules are adhered to by EVERYONE . Not just a wee group of , at times ,silly wee boys in the home support. And the Police have a responsibility to ensure that nobody is behaving in a manner which is likely to be causing offence by using sectarian chants , songs and banners. Two sets of rules.

A lot to be done with this squad and we all have opinions. Lyness . So far so good, hasn’t done anything to suggest he isn’t worth a go. Keep. Hodson . Decent , improving and well worth keeping .....in his right position. Baird. Good and improved with the benefit of playing with Ferdy .Keep Jones . If he’s here on loan till season end, keep . But tell him to stop bloody grabbing folk. Ferdinand . Oozes quality above our level but a BMI above the level most of the west of Scotland . Keep ( if he’ll stay) Eckersly. quality LB who may well do a good job for the second half of season. McKenzie. Love the big man but methinks his career is finished [emoji853] Paul McGinn . Decent RB and half decent mid. Keep. Erhahon . No brainer , keep , improve and move to his natural midfield role. Flynn , Edwards , McShane . Thanks . Bye. S.McGinn . Still got something to give . Keep . Smith . Is going to Ayr united. Hamill . He’s off. Jackson . Right player , wrong team. Needs to feed off a target man. Kirkpatrick . BAWA footy will give you a game on a Monday if you want .

I can't get my head around those thinking we were worthy of any points today, we were dreadful from start to finish. Found ourselves at 0-0 with 15 to go after they managed to miss sitter of the season and yet we could not be less interested in trying to push for a goal. Got exactly what we deserved for half arsedly sitting in. Formation was effectively 3-6-1 and it was clear that nothing was sticking up front right from the start but OK did nothing to change it.
