If money is the answer, why are Livingston, Motherwell, St Johnstone and (at this moment in time), Hamilton performing better than us? Our average attendances far exceeds all of theirs). Like livingston? Over the last 3 seasons, the average attendances for Livingston 2,334 St Mirren 4443 The difference of 2109 is considerably (about 25%) more than selling out the family stand to the rangers & celtic hordes. Yet Livingston are faring a damn site better than us. The additional income compared to the teams round about us, is not having the desired effect. Referring back to a post I made a week or two ago, for the clubs we are competing against, it's how the money gets spent. Who is Livingstons Hladky, Popescu, Kellerman? With SMISA paying for all sorts for the club, which (as far as I know), Livingston does not have that luxury, St Mirren, by your reasoning, should be doing far better than Livingston in the league. The additional income from selling our soul for a few dollars more is not making the difference you are arguing for. St Mirren's BoD would be better putting their efforts into investing in the home supporr. Demonstrate to the fans "we believe in you. Come and support us" Loads of clubs state how important their support is, as a "12th man" yet we gift wrap rangers & celtic a 12th man by giving their support 2 full stands. Invest in the home support & give them the opportunity to be that 12th man v rangers & celtic and put an end to volunteering any kind of advantage we could have to the opposition.

Absolutely. You didn't make the AGM did you? Quite a bit of intelligence gathered from it. Enough to consider, revisiting the proposal. I found the discussion/debate enlightening and extremely valuable. I won't be adopting the Theresa May methodolgy but more the Mighty Oaks grow from small acorns analogy. [emoji16]

Do you want to try and reword that and see if you can make it anymore condescending?
  4. 3 points
The decision to kick the families out was made before the start of the season, possibly (I don’t have time to check) before Jack Ross left. The club had no way of knowing that we wouldn’t have carried on the wave of optimism that had been built up over the great escape and title winning seasons.
  5. 3 points
Who said we are not capable? I said we need to display a run of form we have been nowhere near, just as Dundee need to do. If you weren't so intent on sitting around waiting to be offended perhaps you might even debate the points? But then again...

In 4 years time, SMISA will have the funds in place to be in a position to complete the purchase of St Mirren FC "within 10 years" of the BTB project. Whilst I appreciate the reasons why 2 stands are given, I don't agree. Not when clubs in the division with considerably less average attendances can continually outperform St Mirren in the league. More money does not guarantee success, as we are demonstrating right now. Anyways, in 4 years, SMISA will be in a position to buy St Mirren. A SMISA board can then be tasked to reconsider the decision to give up our stadium to rangers and celtic for a few dollars more if the current BoD have not already done so. 4 years is not a ling time..

Sinces our TV income will be similar, I will use Livingston FC again for demonstration purposes. Googling SPL & Scottish Championship average attendances, I found, St Mirren average attendance over the past 3 seasons has been 2109 MORE per match than Livingston FC. 2109 per match.more. There were 18 league matches in both 2016/17 & 2017/18 seasons + 16 home matches this season (so far) Additional income 2109 ×£15 = £31635 per match 2109 x £10 = £21090 per match (Conservative guesstimates). Over the 3 seasons, St Mirren should have realised somewhere between £717,060 & £1,075,590 at least, additional income but here we are, 21 points behind Livingston FC. Potentially 1 million pounds plus, more than Livingstone & folk really believe giving rangers & celtic 2 stands is going to make that big a difference. Acting in St Mirren FC's best interests, St Mirren FC would find the greater good by having their own supporters in the 3 stands of West, South & East. If need be, employ some additional security to prevent away supporters admission to the home stands when rangers & celtic call. They can be used to remove away supporters should they be found astray in the home stands uninvited.

Nonsense. How do you reverse it if you've already reduced season ticket prices for that stand and told fans they have to buy tickets for elsewhere?

After alienating your own supporters! The (your favourite word) ‘evidence’ clearly shows that the decision was taken following our two biggest home supports last season, and prior to season tickets going on sale, so the board had no ‘evidence’ that given the chance more supporters would have been tempted to buy season tickets throughout the stadium. Indeed our Chief Exec was regularly talking about us being a top six club.

Combination of Champions League and Sky TV (and equivalent other TV deals) for England and the other top leagues has completely killed the game. UEFA seriously need to do something to distribute wealth rather than simply allow market forces to dictate. Danger is that top Euro clubs break away though. Domestic league members benefiting from Celtic's progress in Europe is a decent step in the right direction but it doesn't go far enough. It also makes it even more difficult for clubs to keep up when that money doesn't come in. SFA don't help much in this country with poor decision making but the money in the top leagues has created a runaway train that is impossible to compete with.

Duh! You won't have a "knock on" effect part way through the first season! Surely even you can understand that very simple point. Yet again, you have spun this around full circle! For the sake and sanity of other posters, I refuse to be drawn back into your pointless debates! My point here is simple. We could have and should have done more to maximise our home support.

Oh poor Baz... even his Ayrshire Rangers paks look like they may have spotted the no-brainer! See thats what you should be looking to do if your attendances ( as you have studiously informed us) are on the rise! "Kilmarnock are considering halving Rangers' allocation for the clash on the last day of the season. The Ibrox side usually get two stands but Killie are currently in the hunt to finish third and attendances have been on the rise. (Kilmarnock Standard)" does make our club look doubly poor considering its our Family Stand that sees its ST holders kicked out.

Anyone else bored shitless with this sectarian lack of action from the SFA Despite Clarke getting abused, now Mc Innes ( and incidently its been happening for the last 40 years) the radio silence from the SFA speaks volumes Why dont they just come out and say - " Its naughty but as its Celtic and Rangers its totally fine in our book, however if we catch one guy singing it we will work with the police to prosecute, however if 10000 sing it, then its all adds to the atmosphere" Not one fine, not one mention , no threats just allowing to happen............... All they need to do is reverse the result if its clear that a section of the crowd are singing , that way the club will action, but of course as the SFA are either Knights of St Columba or Masons its highly unlikely

The difficulty that many of us have is that you continually conflate your opinion with facts, evidence and the truth. Just because something is said by you over and over does not make it true, a fact or a even a balanced conclusion based on facts. The one fact that can’t be disputed is that the board took the decision that this season they would prefer to increase the number of OF fans in our ground (with the unknown additional income and costs that that comes with that) to having a family area for our own fans, with the unknown but factual loss of income and unknown loss of fans in the longer term.

It's because this game is important to them and they don't want to give Rangers the extra advantage that letting them have the majority of the crowd brings rather than to create a family atmosphere, Killie want an antagonistic atmosphere with a large home crowd behind them. An added bonus is the social media outrage being expressed by Newco supporters.

The thread is "where we will finish" . . . AND YOU were making assertions about the final 5 games we all have to play and in particular claiming Livi were way better than us. 1. you claimed 2 teams Well and the Fakes won't be trying as their heads are in Magaloof - A total ignorance of reality in professional football. 2. You would be delighted if we finished 11th. OK and I will only be delighted when we are guaranteed to be in this league for next season... 3. That Dee will magically reboot from 7 straight defeats and win their next TWO games. 4. You claimed that "We struggle to put two results together, and Livi certainly dont. Despite me listing that they have not 5. That Livi only have 3 teams in the league who concede less goals than them (overall so far this is true, but on more recent figures they are much further down - the relevance of your statement verses recent form going into these 5 games is seriously dubious as there recent form is much more like ours) 6. Then you questioned point 4 again - and I attached a link to prove you were wrong and in denial - no apology though eh! Twice you insisted you were correct - HA HA 7. you claimed that I confirmed your posts - BUT I corrected you by informing you that "I CORRECT the blatant errors you make in them and offer a more balanced and accurate account of REALITY" 8. You then wrote "Just checking... did you know Livi Have conceded half the goals we have, and have double the points we have..? Care to correct that - so I did by showing relevant recent results over the last 2 months where a hugely different picture of reality emerges given that for 1/2 a season we were in crisis with Stubbzo's Duds (Who you thought we should keep) You have been hung out to dry by DJ and TPA on these things too - BUT in stead of saying oops, you throw in another crazy assertion and don't actually answer any questions people challenge you with... WILL YOU EVER LEARN OR do you delight in spouting utter Nonsense? (Do you like the attention and the controversy?) I am not trying to curtail you posting, just hoping you will do so more wisely, having checked stuff in stead of imagining it in your head - Fool me! but thanks for the entertainment !

Belatedly even Killie have. With the evidence at the Dundee game family stand promo of "if you build it, they will come" we should have done what Killie are doing, when we played the celtic game at ours. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/47945450
  33. 1 point
Yeah if all else fails find some argument with marginal relevance to where we are currently. Yes the whole season does count and shows why we are where we sit etc. BUT the reality of where we are now is much more accurate if you look at post January transfer window results. So over our LAST 8 league games, now that we have players who replaced Stubbzo's DUDS and are up to speed here are the facts :- Livi played 8 points won 11, Goals FOR 9 Goals against 7 Defeats to Dee, Hibs, and Us St. Mirren played 8 points won 9 Goals FOR 9 Goals against 8 Defeats to Killie, Fakes and Tic So in reality they are not currently conceding 1/2 the goals we have but 1 less over the last 2 months and arguably losing to Dee and Us in comparison to who beat us speaks volumes... Thanks for calling me pure GOLD ! I did tell you to check before you post your tripe, but will you ever learn ?
  34. 1 point
Re the bit in bold, what like the returning crowds you have insisted we have this season after winning a league? You really are being hung out by your own warped arguments. Lets see if we survive if our club follow Killie's example and support their own support, or go down your preference of facilitating even more sectarian chanting, explosives and violence!

Think we win 2-1 both games at Livingston that season Mcgarry scored a 20 yarder into top corner in one from a throw in(last time we scored from a positive throw in I believe). In the other he chipped the keeper from 35/40 yards out on touchline.

We clearly don't have consensus. The point was that we could have started with an interesting debate about whether the experiment of moving the OF to the family stand worked followed by what we should now do. It should have been done in that order - assessment of experiment and THEN a discussion about what next. Your stubborn determination to put the cart before the horse combined with a ridiculous and unnecessary level of defensiveness has alienated everyone and cost you the debate.

Long term? It should have been plan A! Our starting point. Hell... Failing to build upon the incredible positivity... The strongest unity at the club since the days of Fergies Furies... Failing to build upon that was nothing short of criminal neglect! They took the easy money and the easy option. You say long term... HOW long term are you planning? I reckon we were best placed in around four decades! You happy to wait four more? MAKE the magic happen... Don't wait for it! We missed a huge opportunity but hey... You are happy at displaced home fans, the cancellation of Saints youth facilities, and the potential loss of future support as we got enough money to buy three quarters of a Kellerman! Yippee! Go you!

The problem is that the BBC spends an inordinate amount of money on being able to cover English games, money which is collected across the whole of the UK. In order to justify this, they will push the FA premiership at every turn. The hits on the website will almost certainly be reported as evidence of the continued interest in the Premiership. Roughly, the BBC collects £324million a year from Scottish license holders and spends £223 of that in Scotland, much of that is earmarked for a range or UK programming and is not Scotland only output. Subrscibers in the Republic of Ireland are paying around £27 million for access to the entire output of the BBC. If we had an arrangement where Scotland collectively paid a similar figure to the BBC then we could use the rest for the development of talent and good quality output in Scotland, including a decent fee that helps develop Scottish football.

Its so hard to call...... Remember Hibs relegation saga , when they took 1 point from last 5, then lost play offs after 2-0 away win at Accies.... The first round is so vital.................... I saw Kenny Miller on Sportscene, they are already moaning about the fixtures and the fact they have 2 away games that they have already been to twice................................... We lead Livi 1-0 at HT last time away then shut off, we beat Well 1-0 last visit there, we have beaten Dundee twice, so concerns are Fakes and Accies as thats 1 point out of 18 against them ............................... Money is on Dundee , they have lost last 7, won one game at home all season and thats some turn around We have gone from 5 behind them to 3 in front in last 7 games......................... But Livi game is totally massive as its the first, its not a must win, but it is a must not lose
