In my lifetime (27 years) id say danny has been the best manager success wise and probably built the best team out of all the managers I’ve witnessed. That day in 2013 was one of the best days of my life.

I thought our football under Danny was pretty decent overall and he tried to play a passing game which didn't always work. Some good league finishes and some poorer ones. Didn't get relegated and as you say he also won a major trophy - our one and only League Cup. I'd rather watch the football we played under Danny Lennon than Tommy Wright's version of the game.

It is from a twitter account with under 500 followers called "irish league insider" That is literally the only source. This thread is just further evidence that you can get idiots to believe any old shite you post online.

We stay up he is going nowhere - this was his big shot at a higher level and he is not the kind of guy to throw that away. The only unknown is whether his family don't want to come - but from what I hear, that is not an issue... It is just as you highlighted - f*ksake there is even a twat on here shouting for Danny Lennon to come back to us...

Charity night in Rothesay my bid won a St Mirren signd football There were only three bids more than I thought there would be. Saying that there are quite a few Saints fans over here, well four I know of. . Couple old guy's in my place today one wearing a Saints polo shirt with the Saints badge they are staying in the Glenburn hotel we taked about the Hamilton game. I'm a happy chappy. COYS.

I can understand fans anger at Danny leaving mainly because the board made a right ricket in appointing Craig and subsequent bad manager decisions. If Danny had been replaced by someone like JR or an experienced manager then the blow of Danny's leaving may have been softened by those who wanted him to stay. All ifs and buts and I still have a soft spot for the man.

The club doesn't need to do anything. They can't go about responding to every crackpot obscure Twitter account every time a rumour emerges. If it appears in a respectable paper over here then it will be worthy of a response.

Explain how I treated Danny like shite? When Danny left a lot of fans felt the time was right, appreciated the job he did in winning the cup and wished him well. I have always supported the manager and club but the board felt Danny had taken us as far as he could and completely fecked things up by appointing TC. If he had been 'sacked' under contract I could understand your point but he saw out his contract and for whatever reason the Board wanted a change. That's football. On a final point Alex Smith won the Scottish cup in 1987. Did you see any of the football we played the following season? Smith had to go but will always be a legend for our SC win.

Lennon's managerial record I'd say better than average and that he's been a bit unlucky not to get another gig with a F/T club. ******************** Our football during his tenure was mainly brutal with two good spells - the first half of 2011/12 and the spell from when Isma arrived until he got done for diving against Celtic. Technically @nedflanders123 is correct and he wasn't sacked but when your departure is announced on the Monday and your Assistant (the brains of the partnership 🙄 ) is given the job the next day it's a bit pedantic. Still he's a club legend and I'd lay down in a muddy puddle to stop him getting his shoes wet!
  11. 2 points
Aye, take the League Cup win out of the equation. Let's take all Stubb's matches out of the equation apart from the Killie league cup match and big Alan would be the best manager ever. Danny Lennon is a St Mirren legend and was treated like shite by management and you.
  12. 2 points
Bullshit. His contract was up and the Board decided not to renew it. Sacking is when a manager is dismissed within his contract period. If a player is released at the end of his contract do you think he has been sacked? Danny's time was up but Board made a right f**k up by not replacing him with the right man. The rest is history.

Coleraine sack their manager. So what? Sounds like a classic case of 2 + 2 = Half a biscuit. It’s at times like this I’m glad I’m not on twatter.
  14. 2 points
Hello shull. Hoping there's no truth in the rumours, but if there is Jim Goodwin is the only person they should be going after. Danny Lennon is a shite football manager who got lucky with the League Cup win and only got Clyde into the play offs by shelving his principles and playing a rapist up front.

Says who? Who exactly is making these decisions? Why do they keep changing their minds and attacking those who don't instantly obey their new rule? Why is "people of colour" OK but "coloured" is worthy of the sack and public humiliation? I don't think it is unreasonable to ask these questions. I am also confused at why there is a need to even refer to the colour of someone's skin in normal day to day conversation.

Kenny would have won it in 2015 if we hadn't punted him in the January (and sealed our relegation fate in doing so) but I think we can all agree that the guy who did win it that year, Aaron Woodall, is the most worthy of all the winners over the past 17 years!

Widely reported in the media today that DB has been fired from the BBC for being a filthy racist. Well I wish to publicly declare that I think this is possibly / probably a huge injustice. Nowadays the uber-politically correct have such a stranglehold on the media that there is no forgiveness for what could easily have been nothing more than an ill thought-out attempt at humour from DB. Why on earth would Baker deliberately destroy his media career by intentionally proclaiming himself as a racist ? Is it not feasible in anyone's eyes that he simply posted (what he thought was) a funny snap and take the opportunity to have a wee comical dig at Royalty ? Isn't it possible that he forgot that Harry's missus had some black ethnicity in her genes ? Nah, no chance !!! There are millions of them out there - those who seek every opportunity to be easily-offended, who will yet again claim the moral high ground and take delight in crucifying Danny Baker for what may have been nothing more than the ill-measured posting of a throw-away joke. What happened to innocent until proved guilty ?? Pisses me off TBH.

A message of congratulations to the team and the management for a magnificent turnaround and avoiding automatic relegation today. Of course we're disappointed about Hamilton winning but all of the people at the club have rescued us from a seemingly impossible position in a very short time. I believe that all of them deserve our thanks for getting over this first hurdle and to not have a magnificent achievement lost in the bowels of a matchday thread or in the negativity of Hamilton winning today or any nonsense about how we've been performing recently. That's 4 great results in a row against strong opposition with plenty of late goals. That's noteworthy right there. The boys never f**king give in. That's the spirit we need from here to the end of the season and we'll be fine. Part Two is to defeat Hamilton next week and leave us with something to play for on the last week. If we do that, we can enter the play-offs (if it comes to that) with our heads held high. Despite other results, I'm buzzing today and can't wait for next week. Let's f**king do this. COYS.

Taking the thread even further off-topic I often wondered how keen Tommy Craig was for the top job, at 63 and with only an unsuccessful caretaker spell with Charleroi as a No.1 previous to managing us I've always had a suspicion the BoDs plan was for him to mentor Teale/Goodwin for two years by which time Craig would be eligible for the state pension - best laid plans etc. Craig survived 5 managers departing @ Sellick and one of their supporters at my work said "He'll no' resign, under any circumstances" when we appointed him.

Unreasonable. f**k! 😀 That bold bit? Don't try and put words in my mouth. Naughty TPAK-thingy. No change of mind? So we haven't gone from using the word "coloured" to "black" to "people of colour" to "African American" whatever the hell that last one is supposed to mean given most black Americans were born in America. Someone is changing their minds over what words are acceptable and if I'm going to trip myself up figuring out what the appropriate words are, it would be good to know who is doing this and why. I believe Alan Hansen (might be wrong ) recently used the phrase "coloured" and was hounded for it. There were calls for his sacking and he had to publicly whip himself as a result. It was someone in football anyway. The thing about white males is that the vast majority as far as I can see display no misogyny but are being tarred by those who are. It's difficult to be a young man and see for example that young women get £2000 handed to them when they start some engineering and science degrees when there is no possibility for young men to receive that level of award. Fixed quotas based on gender (don't even get me started on that nonsense) are the same. You can't fight sexism by using sexist tools and expect no backlash. Anyway, I still think the best way to respond to the PC brigade is to tell them to f**k off and focus on actual discrimination.

Let's just say it's interesting . OK in a position to complete the season with us on good terms . Then go back to where he was this time last year . And Goodie available to step in to his shoes , and have a good infrastructure roundabout him at the club . Everyone a winner . Especially if we stay up .

Steve Clarke took over a Kilmarnock side in a worse position and managed to get them into the top 6 without making wholesale changes to the squad. Oran has done nothing special. Indeed, IMO we’d be safe already by now had Alan Stubbs remained.

I find myself in agreement with the middle bit of your post and I have cleverly put in bold in that part of your post in order to make the middle bit of your post more obvious in order to assist the readers eye in locating the part of your post that I agreed with. Anyway.... 1) Did he mean it knowing full well that he will be dismissed, pilloried and could even be arrested? No I do not 2) Is he some sort of "celebrity" with a large enough following that he really ought to be held to some sort of standard? Yes I do 3) Is the BBC a London centric pishbucket? Yes it is 4) Should Danny Baker be sacked for being so incredibly stupid? Yes he should 5) Would one of us mere mortals risk being dismissed from our menial and less important jobs (than celebrities have) had we tweeted something equally as stupid? Yes we may well have 6) Should lessons be learned about what we post on social media? Absolutely 7) Are people too easily offended these days? Yes they are 8) Does this fake rage somehow justify the stupidity of posting such "risqué" things on social media? No it does not 9) Is stupidity then a sackable offence? Yes it is 10) Could Danny Bakers ill informed tweet cause upset to a new mother (regardless of who she is) should that new mother be exposed to this tweet? Of course 11) Is upsetting new mothers by insulting the new born baby in any way justifiable? No it is not 12) For those fathers amongst us, how would you react if some fudbucket posted a picture of a chimp/monkey/ape insinuating that your new child looked like this chimp/monkey/ape? I would have tied him to a chair, cut his balls off and force fed them to him 13) So is Danny Baker a bit of a prick? yes he is 14) Is he a racist prick? Probably not 15) But a prick anyway? Yes absolutely 16) Does old Tom feel sorry for him? Not in the slightest, not in the slightest indeed

The knockout stages have always been good, just as they were with the European Cup. It’s just those mind numbingly boring, turgid group stages they need to get rid of. Which two clubs?

If ‘Old Firm’ colt sides are admitted to the Scottish football senior league system, and they are the only two colt sides to appear in it, then I’m finished with Scottish football, and despite my long love affair with St Mirren, I want no part of what would frankly be a sickening development in our top level national game. The entire country may as well just switch the lights off before taking it up the arse from Lawell and King. Pains me to say it, but just my personal view, I would simply be finished with Scottish senior football, and after a while, I’d just become another ‘lapsed’ St Mirren fan. Let’s hope this disgusting scenario never comes to pass. FTOF.
