Poll: When Will Oran Match Alan?

Ironically a good few of the others were signed by Jack Ross, I'm sure there was some guy continually "bitchin" about him but can't quite remember who that was and a fair few directly from "the academy"......in fact the some playing time of any of Stubbs signings was 22 minutes by Cody Cooke ( a player I like incidentally)!! In essence thank The Good "Lord" for The Academy, Jack Ross and Oran Kearney......maybe a wee mention for Rae too for bringing in MacKenzie!!

St Mirren v Hamilton Mon 13th May

If it was a goalkick, it’s not offside, end of debate. If it was a free kick - if he’s offside when the ball was hit, he’s offside. If he was onside for the original kick, then off when McKenzie headered it, he’s onside. It’s about the original kick here. He is not “inactive” because if McKenzie doesn’t clear it, then Accies are through on goal. Therefore McKenzie has to act to stop that from happening. It doesn’t matter if he scuffs his header, doesn’t matter if he wins it properly, he’s had to act because of what’s behind him. The main factor here is the original free kick, was he offside when that was hit? The rest is irrelevant in this specific situation. The Accies guy was the intended target so he’s most definitely active.

FFS, behave. He's not even in the top five worst players we've had this season. Plus, I think he's out of position. I think he's more of a number 10, but we've had better options there. No tears shed when he goes back to Blackburn, but he's nowhere near as bad as you're making out.

For me all the good that Brad does goes unnoticed and people only remember the bad bits. He was pretty good in the first half with a good run down the right hand side early on. He had a header on target all be it it wasnt very powerful but I think that was mainly down to the cross that came in. Generally he was good until he tried an ambitious cross field ball to Paul McGinn and it went straight to a Hamilton midfielder, which is the only bit that people remember. I understand people hope for more from him but hes been a regular feature in the midfield since we started to improve. I quite like him.

It's not about Brad Lyons being poor , it's about Ryan Flynn being better . Reminds me a bit of Lexy Richardson when he drives forward with the ball .

Do official records get kept of the away supports? Outside of the scum, Aberdeen and the Edinburgh teams, surely we have the highest? And as a percentage of our home support, surely the highest.

We will have to wait and see... will he have young lads in the 1st 11 or among the 7 subs... A good manager would want to give them some game time - but maybe after they are 2 or 3 in front...

Agreed, he sprayed the ball from side to side, dragging defenders along with it, opening space up. He played excellent and intelligent football last night. Well done SM!

Turned out in big numbers. Great atmosphere. As per the first post in this thread - we have grown year on year. 3,000-3699-4458-5251 or around that. Increases of 700, 750 and 800 respectively. Grow by 800 next season and we exceed 6,000 - Great going. Well done all. Positive growth in attendances.

Players are so quick these days it's so difficult for officials when it's fractions of inches or 5 WHOLE BLOODY YARDS when the player is actually stood in a stripe of grass where the cut direction makes it an actual different colour to one the defenders are standing in and you are literally looking along that line when the keeper kicks the ball upfield towards him. JESUS F'N CHRIST We'd all be the guy at the back of the stand swearing if that had any bearing on the result.

Throughout this thread. It has almost become your stock answer. Anyways, now you think I'll be doing a Theresa May and resubmitting regardless despite stating a few tomes, I'll see how things develop and if there is any encouragement between now and then, will consider resubmitting. I am not saying I will and I am not saying I won't. But we will see how things pan out between now and then.

Completely agree. If being clean through one on one with the keeper (even from 30 yards out) is not a “clear goal scoring opportunity” then I’m f**ked if I know what is.
  20. 2 points
BBC ones but I totally agree with the BT guys was a definite red card Jackson would have been 1 on 1 with the keeper had he not been pulled back.

Excellent - 11 Games with over 5,000 crowds and 8 with less than that and none under 4,000. Only thing holding us back from being higher rated in the list is our more limited possible maximum attendance compared to all but Hamilton. Good going.

This is the game footage. The incident where Jackson brought down Lexy is at 9:22. We also had a disallowed goal in the first half. Saints fans were in the upper tier of the Broamloan road end.

With Flynn and Erhahon available to start, you could say that only 2 of OK’s signings would be in the starting outfield 10 of his best side! And just think how good we’d be if OK had signed Liam Smith and played Cammy Smith. Oh wait..... [emoji23]
  25. 2 points
That’s no reason not to include Mcallister, so more than half the starting 11 were brought in by OK. If not for injuries it could have been even more. Not like you to try & push a negative agenda though... Having to change over half your starting 11 during a season & imbedding them to a point where St Mirren are one of the best performing teams in this league is a fantastic achievement.

That is what I thought - think it was MacKenzie's header .. When' the ball was played he WAS offside and offside is judged by where was the intended receiving player....WHEN.... the ball was struck, ergo offside .....Debate? 😄

I am also sure he said we wouldn't score another goal. Whatever his reasons are for his continued negativity towards our club is becoming tedious. He makes Victor Meldrew appear as the laughing cavalier.

First chance I’ve had to watch the highlights. IMO. The sending off was harsh, I agree with the commentators , too far from goal to be a clear and obvious goal scoring opportunity. Mullen should have received a yellow for his tackle on Gordon and the big No 99 for Hamilton should have saw Red and needs to be cited for his shoulder into McKenzie .

No, not at all. I was hoping it would turn out to be wrong like the spitting story, but know that we have idiots in our support who would shout this sort of stuff. I've heard about another incident yesterday that went unreported in W2 so whilst I'm pleased this one was dealt with we've more to do

This is a very familiar story. I know many who find it patronising because it's clear that the PC person is seeing their colour rather than the human inside. Ironic really when you think about it.

I think there is a player in there. I'd trust Oran's judgement on him over yours or mine! I think the misses at Accies away have severely dented his confidence and Oran has been trying to support him through it. With the enormity of Saturdays game though, I'd drop him for Flynn in a heartbeat.

He had no need to even make a challenge as everyone in the ground could see MacKenzie was going to win the race to the header by miles. Collum allowed a lot of challenges to continue after the ball was away without warning or booking players - that was the most obvious example. There had been a few other niggly challenges between the two of them in the first 30 minutes. I think MacKenzie had his eye on the ball and wasn't aware of the late challenge coming but no excuse for Ogboe

    Oran

    I got a bit perturbed at this article - https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/48240461 Of course on face value taking all Oran's games in charge is relevant in the overall picture of the season, however, I think it is much fairer to take their (Rice and Oran's) stats from the same point as the transfer window closed and Rice arrived at the Hammer throwers.. and took full charge - so from February on. So instead of Rice's Points per game average being nearly double Oran's - here is what it actually is since the transfer window closed - AND look at the goal difference too :- Rice Kearney F A Pts F A Pts Fakes 2 1 3 Well 1 2 0 Hibs 0 2 0 Dons 2 2 1 Rangers 0 5 0 Hearts 1 1 1 Dons 2 0 3 Livi 1 0 3 Well 0 3 0 Killie 0 1 0 Hearts 1 0 3 Fakes 0 1 0 Killie 0 5 0 Dee 2 1 3 Livi 0 2 0 Tic 0 2 0 US 1 1 1 Them 1 1 1 Well 1 1 1 Livi 3 1 3 Livi 3 3 1 Fakes 1 1 1 Dee 1 0 3 Well 1 1 1 US 0 2 0 Them 2 0 3 F A Pts Pts per match F A Pts Pts per match Totals 11 25 15 1.15 15 14 17 1.31 Add in our win at Dee and their defeat to the Fakes and it will be even better . . .

Should we stay up, next season will also be our 100th full* season in the top league. So, also at stake is the opportunity for the commercial department to hold a 100 years commemoration dinner, and range of merchandise. *Not counting the season that was canned after a few games when WW2 broke out.

The thing is it could be any area of the ground as the touchline mics pick up a lot of the things being said/shouted. I used to have my telly connected through a home cinema app and it was funny hearing the swearing coming through the surround speakers behind me, not particularly loudly, but creepy when there was a lull in the game punctuated by a "you're a prick" or similar coming from over your shoulder and there's no-one else in house
