Our main "Weakness" is losing McLoughlin. Playing Foley at CH certainly didn't turn out to be a weakness against Killie. Although, other , better, teams might well test his skill in that position to a greater extent. A replacement for McLoughlin will be our priority. With Broadfoot likely to be fit after the break, and Baird recalled as back up, we should be fine. McGinn (P) is an option too. I'm writing off MacKenzie, as,sadly for us, he seems to get new injury every time the wind changes direction. Like it or not, I reckon, we'll sign three or four players, although if we were to sign more than that, then I'd be delighted to be proven wrong. The likes of Flynn, McGinn (P), Foley and Morias certainly haven't disgraced themselves playing out of their preferred position and due the small size of squad, I'm sure between now and the end of the season, their adaptability will continue to be utilised when required. I'm not convinced that Waters is the answer at LB, but JG seems to rate him. So unless, Dyer wants Waters back, then we have to trust JG's judgement.

Saints fans have always had a thing about signing ex players. How about we sign some players who’ve never played for us before and they turn out good. Anyone coming back is coming back for a reason - IE they haven’t made it elsewhere.

I appreciate your ideas, chalky, but... Until about 6 years ago I brought overseas bus tours to Paisley, regularly. pick up in Edinburgh, straight to Paisley.... it is a lovely town. first pause in the area, to point out Barshaw Park, where I was born: final pause at the Wallace memorial in Elderslie, before crossing at Erskine and heading NW to Oban, via Kilmartin Glen and the lovely coast road via Craobh Haven. apart from a drive round town pointing out the fabulous architecture and historical points of interest, I parked at the watermill for a look at the Hamills, then walked past the Toon Hall, for a look up the High Street to Coats Memorial. We’d then go into the Abbey for a wander round and tea, cakes and tablet(and the lavvies), before heading to Elderslie via a wave to my brother on his verandah at Canal Street. i always spoke of St Mirren but kiwis, yanks etc haven’t travelled thousands of miles to go into a new sterile concrete box. their home countries are awash with such edifices. the only money spent in town was at the historic Abbey - Teas etc and its gift shop. Few of your suggestions (all good) would really bring money into the town, let alone St Mirren, I fear. fellow tour guides/drivers spent 30-60 minutes in the Abbey. I was perhaps too keen. indeed, I drafted a suggested one week tour of - and based in - Paisley, and offered that to The Management. they have yet to get back to me.... (we changed the Scottish Tour route to drive anti clockwise to/from Edinburgh, making Mull our final overnight, before finishing via Stirling Castle and the Kelpies. Paisley lost out. Scotland offers SO much...)

So one inbound, then. Not two. Much like a Tory policy with new nurses, signing one new player and retaining another player - even one who has been out on loan - doesn't mean two incoming as the player is already ours.

One thing that is never mentioned is our excellent away support. Fed up hearing 'we weren't told there would be this many away fans" when turning up at Killie, Hamilton, recently at St Johnstone and famously at Dunfermilne a couple of years back. Not enough space for us in stadiums with loads of capacity, problems getting in, running out of catering, etc. People at the club need to talk us up more, think we are undersold. A wee bit of success and we have one of the best away supports in Scotland. COYS.

If more home fans turned up to games , we wouldn't be having this discussion. You can't help but think the most vocal complainers are the ones already not attending.

Cody Cooke quoted in the PDE. He doesn't seem to think any more strikers will be arriving in January. He admits it was a weight off his mind to hear St Mirren gaffer Jim Goodwin wasn’t targeting new signings up front after he has battled his way back into contention. He said: “It’s a bit of a relief that the gaffer has spoken about being happy with the strikers he’s got at the club. From our point of view, I know there was a lot of question marks towards the start of the year about how many goals the boys were scoring. But now we’ve got real good competition for places. Jon Obika’s got the shirt at the moment and he knows there’s people really pushing him hard to keep his place, including myself. We’ve got Danny Mullen as well, who didn’t get on against Killie. We’ve got a really strong forward line and it would surprise me if he was to add to that number. The only way I could see things changing is if somebody moved out, but that’s not the case. The manager hasn’t mentioned that to me or any of the others and I can see why because we’ve got good competition.”

Sorry Ricky but that's far too simplistic an argument in my opinion. There's got to be a tipping point where it becomes so counterproductive - as you actually alienate home fans from not only avoiding those matches but also from attending other games where they would normally - due to an increasing disillusionment with the club. Aspiring to compete financially and on the park through the old firm filling your stands is simply short-termism and that sort of lack of vision isn't good for any organisation - company, government or football club.

That would be a huge mistake we have been very lucky picking up points with a makeshift defence. The opposition will quickly identify weaknesses and exploit them. We need two new centre backs, a full back and a goal scorer. We need our top players playing in position.

On a Monday night at the tail end of last season we had a crowd of nearly 6500 against Hamilton. The support is there- getting them to come along regularly is the challenge.

As you see by this season the gruesome twosome are not dropping points against us diddies With all their home games against them on the telly and increased prices to pay for the Police pressence.(For all they do as their fans do as they please) Crowds will decrease among us diddies But Scottish Fitba needs a strong Sellic and Sevco they continue to tell us My arse

It never ceases to amaze me how UEFA's match day observers constantly hear and report both cheeks fans for singing sectarian songs yet the powers that be in this country seem oblivious. Even more amazing when the UEFA observers will nearly always not have English as their first language. Even more amazing is how it's reported, the media here see it as some sort of witch hunt against them !

If there is in Perth & Falkirk then it stands to reason there will be in a much more densely populated and better connected venue. So why are Hamilton, Motherwell and Partick Thistle not having loads of concerts? When was the last time Ibrox or Parkhead had one? Falkirk stadium is owned by the council, who are heavily subsidising bands to come there once it twice a year. When was the last time there was one in Perth? If you think there are loads of bands knocking down St Mirren's door to give us stacks of cash to host concerts at our stadium and we are knocking them back then you are entitled to think that. There isn't though.

If the club was to set up a fanzone in the West Stand car park every home game would it be viable? I assume there would be no issue with licensing since there were several beer tents at the 2 day food and drink festival in Abbey Close/Cotton St last year. Would fans who currently drink in pubs in the town centre switch to having a few at the ground on a regular basis? What would it mean for the 1877 bar?

For some reason, people across the world seem a lot angrier now than they have ever been. I genuinely have no idea why that should be. Online abuse is much worse than it has ever been, racism is rearing its head again and sectarianism too, bottles and coins thrown at matches.

I see your argument Maboza. I'm certainly not an advocate for giving both stands away. I also agree it is short term ism. No argument from me on those. I'm merely saying that our trend is upwards and a top six finish would, IMO, make it possible / likely that the present situation would not occur again next season. But.. There is also a part for the online and paper reading fans to play and that is to turn that interest into turning up. The club also needs to be more inventive in ticket sales and promotions. Getting there I'd say but clearly not there yet.

    St. Mirren v Celtic, 26th December 2019

Nope you just spouted a big fat "gonnae no dae that" it's been done successfully at worse venues. That is irrefutable. You don't want it, fine. The club however wont survive and thrive unless additional revenue streams are created. This board have created a single one! That's not true, I'd be right up for concerts being held in Paisley, I just understand the difficulties in getting it on at St Mirren park, especially with the local competition. You think there is no issue and the reason there are no concerts in similar stadiums in or around Glasgow is because all the clubs are badly run. Fair enough. Btw, just looking to see if I can find out what all these huge moneymaking concerts at McDairmid park were and see they've lost the Jehovas witness convention to..... the Hydro.

My answer was considered and fair. You are the one who is getting angrier and angrier. Like I say, if you think there is demand for, and money to be made from, concerts in small football stadiums around Glasgow and every single club is wrong and you are correct, then you are totally entitled to that opinion. I gave you reasons why you are wrong, you don't have to accept them.

Well, if you think there is a huge demand for medium sized outdoor concerts on the outskirts of Paisley that mean promoters are willing to pay good money to host it there instead of just in the multiple venues in the biggest city in Scotland just up the road then fair enough, nobody can change that point of view.

    St. Mirren v Celtic, 26th December 2019

You don't understand why stadiums in Falkirk and Perth, many, many miles away from other suitable venues occasionally get used for concerts, but St Mirren park, on the outskirts of Glasgow, with dozens of suitable venues, including a custom build indoor arena made specifically for concerts just minutes up the road isn't quite as in demand?

So how do Falkirk, Fakes etc manage to stage events if theres supposedly no demand for 8-10000 stadia? I think you are making a large unfounded assumption. City centres hold concerts that size next door to indoor venues of the same capacity.

The players appreciate the support that has been given them .
