Negotiating the bridge at Easter Road post match on any occasion was a “story” in itself. A truly terrifying experience as a teenager. I’ve been back to ER twice in recent times for the first and second times since about 1985/86. It was a weird feeling that it was no longer a scary place. Coming out of the most recent game, there was a small group of young Buds walking up ER singing, “Jack Ross is shaggin Stevie Mallan’s burd”. Jimmy H and I commented to each other that it was changed days and you’d never have done that in the 70s or 80s. It was very much scarf tucked away, Heid doon and get out of Dodge.

The youth of today don’t know what they are missing. Visiting Easter Road, Aberdeen and Tynecastle was mental in the 80s.

I mind around the mid 80s when I was about 16 me and a mate got chased down Murray Street from a couple of Celtic fans, we left the game early hoping to avoid them coming out the away end as we were heading home to Feegie but ended up in the middle of thousands of the fcukers, Anyway the further we ran down Murray street the further away from the Celtic fans we got so we decided to slow down and let them catch us up, I'll never forget there faces when they realised they had isolated themselves from the rest of the fans, so us being very hospitable Fegs decided to give them what the wanted and ended up punching fcuk right out them, also remember a couple of older Celtic fans laughing as they walked by us saying well done lads the daft cnuts got what the deserved....😂

Could Coronavirus Kill Our 42 Clubs

St Mirren aren't lucky. A lot of hard work has gone into our youth development in the last 20 odd years, which has put us in a better position than some other clubs, due to the sales of players.

Police called to Boots in Ayr today to control a massive queue for prescription collection. They were letting people in one in one out but as seems the norm the great British public were having none of that hence police required. Utterly unbelievable stuff. Oh and anyone making this into a political tool is an utter moron. It has hee haw to do with politics, I don't envy any politician having to deal with a crisis like this.

I don't want to distract from the subject of the thread, especially as this has been covered back on 2014 when suggested. Just to recap though, a throat pastel incurs a charge of $10 in US hospitals, along with a covid 19 testing kit costing around $250 - $350. If you are unlucky enough to take ill and require hospitalisation then the costs under a free market are huge. Only a sociopath or a f**kwit woukd think allowing a free market where the priority is profit access to health are is a good idea.

Ah no I remember now. He wanted a universal payment to every citizen but he wanted all benefits stopped. He also wanted to abolish free NHS and free education, The idea was that he wanted that universal payment to be used by people to pay for those services. I also remember his figures being all over the place and his wafer thin knowledge being repeatedly exposed. For some reason I have a suggested figure of £25k per person in my head

They're heading down to our ground, keeping the "We want a refund" mob at bay. Kidding apart highly unlikely they are on patrol to prevent looting. It would take mass gangs to be involved that the police couldn't handle before that was even contemplated.

    Reasons to be cheerful

This break in the league give us a chance for McCarthy. Durmus and McPherson to recover from their injuries. And Wallace look like he took a knock towards the end of the Hearts game. I think hes still a good player. We should have signed him in November when we had the chance. Anyway let Hearts and Accies worry. Coys. PS. I was in the main stand for the Hearts game. The atmosphere from the West Stand was amazing. Really were the 12th man. [emoji469][emoji469][emoji469][emoji469]

Yes. But it's just as important to recognise that people DO recover. All you see on the media is the adding of numbers who contract it or who unfortunately die. It's feeding the panic without showing the hope.

Universal Basic Income does have an odd combination of bedfellows from those on the left who see it as a less abrasive than the current Welfare State funded by progressive taxation to those on the right who see it as a backdoor method to dismantle society and thus grab an even larger slice of the pie for themselves (oops just gave myself away there) - personally I would be sceptical of any form of UBI advocated by the current government.

Leaving Tynecastle after a 2 nil defeat in the early 90's, heading back to the bus we were confronted by few Hearts casuals. One guy on our bus took a couple of punches. Police arrived and broke it up. Said young guy, while walking to the bus, snapped every car aerial off that he passed. Must have had about 20 or so of them. I found it amusing back then but would be f**kin raging if it had happened to my car.

    Wage Cuts & Financial Problems

No... more like she’d budgeted to spend X, on the basis that through the rest of the season Y would be coming through the turnstiles - but it now won’t be. instead of firing a lot of people she’s seeking to keep them all on, in the (Probably forlorn) hopes things will pick up soon. better Moral action than the airlines, bars, hotels and cafes... eta she’s been running a tight ship, there, whilst finishing off the rebuilding of a stand. Budge by name, budget by nature....

My cousin was over from Florida, and I promised to take him to a game at Love Street. He's a bit of a redneck - loves his guns, hunting alligators, and always wears large alligator-skin boots and a cowboy hat. Anyway, we were walking through the backstreets of Carntyne, on our way to catch a train to Central, when we passed the local young team, the YCG. I cringed as they started laughing and jeering at my cousin. Shuggy, the top boy, comes running over, like a juggernaut in a trackie, produces a stanley knife, and demands our wallets! My cousin didn't seem to understand what Shuggy had said, and asked him to repeat himself. "For f**ks say, he's got a knife", I said. My cousin, known as Aberdeen back in Florida, looked a bit puzzled. "That's not a knife!" he said, after what seemed like an eternity. He then reached into his coat and produced a machete. Shuggy sh*ted it. He and his troops couldn't be seen for dust. Then a crowd of spectators who'd gathered nearby burst into wild applause. I will never forget that day as long as I live.

I was in Kimberley, South Africa working for two weeks but after 4 days I couldn't face the thought of a weekend there so I booked a Friday flight to Johannesburg and Flew back to Edinburgh overnight. I made the game on Saturday and flew back to Joburg on the Sunday and back to work in Kimberley by Monday lunchtime.

At the same time though, people aren't social distancing as much as they should and by highlighting the "success" right now it'll only encourage them to stay in the pub and crow about how it's just a bad cold. I think you underestimate the public. It still kills. It would still be seen as serious. Recovery rates is NOT a success. It's good fortune for those who do. It's the truth. It's the facts. The full picture should be out there. The numbers of confirmed cases should be the number actually infirmed at any given time. Not a grand total including those who have no longer been deemed contagious or suffering from it. I firmly believe the panic we have seen would have been less severe which may actually have reduced the interaction due to the constant surge to buy anything that isn't nailed down leaving everyone else searching for essentials.

Been out in paisley and Johnstone today Buses packed with 70 year pluses. Packs of 70 year pluses standing about chatting, blocking the pavements as usual. Witnessed one old guy pull out a hanky to sneeze into only for half of of the snot to land all over his jacket. His pals laughing away as it happens. A couple of gangs of 70 year pluses sitting with their drinks in the Northern Way, a couple outside smoking. It’ll all be Boris’ fault if any of this lot end up in hospital that they had no personal responsibility.

I'd be surprised if this makes a significant difference. Not saying there won't be a reduction but the futures still looking bright and neither parties will want to jeopardize future agreements. There won't be, IMO, anywhere near the gloom hoped for by some.

    Reasons to be cheerful

If the season, as expected, ends now- then we finish in 9th place. I think that’s a reason to be cheerful, as only those with the biggest rose tinted specs would have expected it. And a possible £2-300k more to our club. Woohoo. And Morton are crowdfunding! If Carlsberg did pandemics........
