    Effect of Coronavirus

I am pretty much isolated. Other than a trip to Aldi the only other human contact I have had in the last week was the Amazon delivery man. By the time I got to the door he was halfway up my garden, the boy was right as I might have coughed on him. All relatives are either self isolating or dont want to visit in case they have it and are not showing symptoms. According to the news im pan breid if I get it so who can blame them? A friend of mine, whom I maintain contact with through the whatsapp, was left sitting in his livingroom when his carer failed to show. I feel sorry for old folk at this time, lonlieness can be hard. Im alright, I can work a computer so I can keep upto date, find something to read or even hop on here to read whatever drivel folk are falling out about today. I will be okay. Cairters Corner world cup of of fannies, best 5 a side team, favourite player and now favourite manager polls kept me well entertained. Missing the fitba is difficult though, often its the only time I get out in a fortnight (excepting Aldi). Still I always have BAWA to keep my lonely old spirits up. Stay safe folks, stay safe indeed.

Another cracker (literally) from late 90s. We were going away for a longer away fixture once so the bus left earlier. As soon as we pulled onto the M8 at Arkleston, a bus in the middle lane slowly began to overtake us... It had a Morton badge on the front window. Too early to be the supporters bus...... THAT'S THE f**kING TEAM BUS. Next thing you know, everoyne is over out side, banging the windows throwing viccys etc.... our very own Skoda Saint had his trousers down and his bare arse pressed against the window as we are all battering it to get the Morton squads attention. There was a card school going up the back of their bus with guys like Stevie Aitken, Warren Hawke etc and some of their reactions to seeing big skodas ring winking at them were brilliant. 😂

    Effect of Coronavirus

Work wise I’ve been working from home for the last two weeks and the wife for the last week. Miracle number one is that we haven’t ripped each other’s heads off yet. My employer (a bank) has now told everyone who has remote access to work from home so looks like I’m stuck here for a while. I can work from home fine with the only obvious thing I can’t do being face to face client meetings. Socially, we were supposed to be flying out to Buenos Aires for 6 nights on Thursday just past. Had been looking forward to it so much but is what it is I suppose. We got full refunds on our flights and hotel so could’ve been worse. Supposed to be doing the West Highland Way for the 4th time at the beginning of May. Not really sure how that one will play out. Won’t I suppose if I can’t get off this effin rock. End of May booked for New York. That looks f**ked as well I suppose. What I shite year this is going to be for everyone. On the upside, oor pubs aren’t shut yet, so we’re going down tonight for dinner while we still can. Only a matter of time till they shut. Yours sincerely, The Reverend I.M. Jolly.

Right, Morrisons not too bad at 7.30, no pasta, tins or bog roll by then but plenty fresh food. Butchers in Troon nothing to sell by 9.30 and closed. Fishmonger and fruit and veg shop queued out the door but tons in. Sea bass and langoustine in the Ayrshire house tonight and just off to the local Day Today for the wine and beer. Planting my early tattie this afternoon, dig for victory Lads.

    Coronavirus

That’s assuming everyone got the virus There are 50,000 deaths in Scotland every year as it is Articles now beginning to emerge, even on the BBC, questioning the death rate and whether all the deaths are actually attributable just to coronavirus. How many of the people who died with coronavirus in their system would have died anyway? Latest study from Italy shows that 99.2% of people who died had at least 1 chronic health condition 75% had at least 2 chronic health conditions 50% had at least 3 chronic health conditions The 3 main health conditions were heart disease, diabetes and cancer. The average age of death was 80 The 5 people in the study who died who were aged 30 to 39 all had severe existing illnesses An 80 year old dies and his death is attributed to coronavirus rather than the cancer and the heart condition he had? Governments are wrecking the world economy and taking away civil liberties because they are shit scared of the backlash of coronavirus deaths being laid at their door But few are actually questioning the reality. Few are questioning the long term consequences for the NHS and how many deaths from other causes this lockdown will cause

So, IF that .12% is carried through for the UK it would equate to just under 70,000. I'd like to think we can learn from other countries, maybe the scare stories of anywhere between 300,000 and 1,000,000 with no time frame will be seen as pure fantasy. The UK is currently, yesterdays figures, sitting at 177. The first case was in December in China and it's slowed to almost nothing.

The day we stayed up in Stirling will live with me forever, as much as the football itself, the bus ride home. Rangers were at home that day and the M8 was a crawl all the way back on both sides for about 5 miles outside Glasgow. However, they'd just lost at home to someone and blown 10 in a row. Meanwhile we'd possibly just saved our club's very existence. For the next hour, every Rangers supporters bus was greeted with a 'whoooooooooa' as it slowly approached in the opposite direction and a bus full of celebrating buds giving it big licks to all the 'people' going back to Edinburgh, Falkirk, Motherwell, Dundee etc instead of supporting their local teams. Petty as f**k but one of my favourite moments ever on the bus. Folk were just deliriously happy, so to see one of the arse cheeks so despondant travelling the other way was a perfect storm.

Don’t know if boris has it right or not, but just getting fed up with every other politician who has no real responsibility, jumping on the “I know better” bandwagon. Scoring political points at this time is s**t. What happened to national unity, caring about the people? same with panic buyers etc. No thought for others. Hope the guys with all the handgel gets it from somebody that has none. We all need a share of everything. china and Asia have different culture but when government said or demanded stay at home, they did it. Here we want freedom, want to go to pub etc. “Nobody tells me what to do” culture. Absolutely bonkers. Next it will be the civil liberty claims. Government cannot tell me what to do lt! britain waken up. Batten down the hatches. Nobody knows when officially started in China, but Lets say mid Jan. over worse of it now. Relatively short time period. There sadly will be deaths but even with the greatest care, these will inevitably happen. The country at large needs to get a grip, knuckle down for next 4-6 weeks and let’s get through it as best we can. To all all of you. Be sensible, do the hand washing, stay safe, look after others, lets get through this

Aye, well I'll have to own up to only having read about 20% of this thread, of which most seemed to be childish arguments about whether Coronavirus is basically the flu-plus, or not. I'm more concerned with the economic fallout, which I hope doesn't sound too callous. I am distrustful of 'the government', as I happen to believe the real rulers of the world are not our elected politicians at all. I don't like talking politics or my reasons for thinking that, but I'm of the opinion that it is not in the interest of 'the powers that be' (TPTB) to jeopardise the economy like this in order to save the elderly and infirm. On the contrary, I think they'd quite like it. I worry that there's an ulterior motive to all this - out of chaos comes order and all that. Global governance and a paperless global currency could be the end game, here. Of course I just might be being too cynical, and this is simply like the Spanish Flu. We're living in interesting times either way.

Deary me. That’s exactly what I said. Please read properly next time before jumping on with your stupid witterings. Totally disagree. The vulnerable people will be the ones needing the care if they get the virus. They need to stop socialising. The only lockdown needed is for vulnerable people. Love the last sentence. Always the mark of a buffoon when he thinks he’s speaking on behalf of “all” And you’re a monumental buffoon!

I agree. In fairness though, I never asked to be tested. I was told I had to be because I’d been to France. The cough I had (still have actually) was probably the worst I ever had, but I had none of the other symptoms. I never really thought I had it, but because people were saying that the severity of the symptoms varied massively, I thought you never know. As of yesterday, there had still only been 300 odd people tested in Jersey with 12 cases diagnosed, so no massive strain on the health service here yet.

I didn’t miss my wedding day but my 25th anniversary was spent with the wife watching us win the league cup[emoji4] Falkirk away in the Fergie era was always tasty but removing the Arabs from our bit of the North Bank in the cup was brilliant (we skated it 4-1) Never forgiven Motherwell for what they did to McGarvey in the first minute of the next round. Tudor bus, always first to leave and last back!
