Is it here ? Or is this presently a test, a wee trial ? Will we end up with no freedoms ? A Pharmacist phoned up Radio 5Live yesterday complaining there was still too many Cars on the road making non essential journeys. The presenter agreed with him. How did they both know the reasons folk were driving their vehicles ? It's shite propaganda like this that will get every decent member of the public banned from driving.

This is the main problem. This has happened so quickly that it just hasn't been possible peer review research to the degree that is required. Rightly or wrongly it has probably come down to which model predicts the scenario which prevents the most deaths, whether the model is wholly reliable or not. Again, rightly or wrongly, the majority of the general public will judge a government on the number of lives lost, as opposed to the economic consequences. Certainly in the shorter term. Given the unreliability of the data to date, it would a nightmare to peer review any work at the best of times, never mind just now. FWIW, other than the complete failure to set up testing for the virus quickly enough, I don't really have any issue at with the current lockdown strategy. Although, I might not be expressing this viewpoint in a couple of weeks time! And if respected Scientists, with a good track record, provide evidence that maybe there are improvements required with the modelling or tactics that we employ, then the quote below should be heeded.

Quite a few other clubs have them. If 5,000 supporters were to contribute £20 each, that'd be £100k, which is quite realistic IMHO.

    Global Fascist State

The Scots have influenced modern society more than the state of Israel. We live in Gods country. Once upon a time in the Kingdom of Heaven, God went missing for six days. Eventually, Gabriel the archangel found him, resting on the seventh day. He inquired of God, "Where have you been?" God sighed a deep sigh of satisfaction and proudly pointed downwards through the clouds, "Look Gabriel, look what I've made." Archangel Gabriel looked puzzled and said, "What is it?" "It's a planet", replied God, "and I've put LIFE on it. I'm going to call it Earth and it's going to be a great place of balance". "Balance?" inquired Gabriel, still confused. God explained, pointing to different parts of Earth. "For example, Northern Europe will be a place of great opportunity and wealth while Southern Europe is going to be poor; the Middle East over there will be a hot spot." "Over there I've placed a continent of white people and over there is a continent of black people" God continued, pointing to different countries. And over there, I call this place America. North America will be rich and powerful and cold, while South America will be poor, and hot and friendly. And the little spot in the middle is Central America which is a hot spot. Can you see the balance?" "Yes" said the Archangel, impressed by Gods work, then he pointed to a small country in Northern Europe, "What's that one?" "Ah" said God. "That's Scotland, the most glorious place on Earth. There are beautiful snow capped mountains, untouched rivers, streams and lochs of exquisite, timeless beauty. The people make a drink called Uisge Beatha or Whisky which means "The Water of Life". The people are good looking, intelligent and humorous and they're going to be found travelling the world. They'll be extremely sociable, hard-working and high-achieving, and they will be known throughout the world as warriors, engineers, inventors and pioneers. Gabriel gasped in wonder and admiration but then said "You said there will be BALANCE!" God replied wisely. "Wait until you see the bastards I'm putting next to them!".

Just did a quick search On the topic called “Paisley St. James Station - can it be renamed?” St. Ricky posted on 28 Feb: “Paisley St Mirren has a ring to it” Wilber then responded: “So has my arse but I wouldn’t want a railway station named after it” TPAFTWAT then replied “I’m sure the old train line that that used to run past the Cadbury depot was known as the chocolate line...” After I called out this distasteful post he deleted it Not sure if he realises that that doesn’t delete my post which quoted it

Stu I originally hail from one of the small isles off the west coast and the local population (certainly the ones I have spoken to or communicated with) are more than happy with the current situation. Their bigger issue is with the number of "second home" owners (which I am now one of) who headed to the island to turn lockdown into a holiday. On most of the islands there is a larger percentage of "vulnerable (mostly age related) category people" and the local health provision just isn't large enough to cope with any sort of outbreak. I am lucky enough not to be from Coll but there is a piece on the BBC website by Rob Wainwright (ex-Lions skipper) which highlights the difficulties and effects of Covid-19 should it arrive on the island. You love your stats, go and have a look at how the islands have fared during previous viral epidemics that have arrived on their shores, it doesn't make pleasant reading.

I see your point on this. Our club are guilty of milking the Paisley working class to death and also the middle class with illusions of grandeur (the Smisa premium membership, I am gritting my teeth here). Some supberb marketing has seen us (including me) buy shares, some pay for the wank wall and now we have fans paying for season tickets, Smisa memberships, 1877 memberships as well as the righteous costs for our fantastic supporters clubs to keep those buses running. It all adds up. Many of our faithful are young and as such not so high on the old career path. It is a lot of money. However these are unprecedented times so I wouldn't be so quick to roll out the high horse here. I do not want Agnes the cleaner (do we have a cleaner called Agnes, you see you the point), and Boab the brusher upper to end up devoid of much needed income. Our club for all it's faults is fantastic and we must see it endure. This is not a time for one upmanship. If one fan can give but a fiver and another can give a ton they are both as valuable as each fan could be making a sacrifice they can equally ill afford. So, if we need a fundraiser I am in and I will contribute what I can afford, in truth slightly more. That figure will be different for each of us but no less important. The man who lays out £1000 without noticing is not the same as the man who lays out £20 but has to sacrifice something, potentially from the shopping basket. The man who didn't notice will be celebrated and the latter taken for granted. Again don't start on the Smisa premium membership. I have been a poor man and I have been comfortable man and such schemes are for cunts. Anyway, unprecedented times, the teenager who gives a fiver is as bright a star (if not brighter) than Land Rover driving, golf jumper wearing gent who gives twenty times that. Lets see our club through this, we all need something to look forward to, we all need something to look forward to indeed. PS I have too many deceased friends who loved this club like I do to see it fail. So COYS

What is the club? What does it mean to you? Many would say that St. Mirren is a Paisley institution, founded in the Victorian era, back in 1877. It is a focal point for the community, where local people unite to support the team which represents their town, and the county of Renfrewshire. It has created a lot of fond memories for people, some indelible such as cup triumphs, wins against the Old Firm, promotions and magical nights such as the recent Motherwell cup game. Then there's the comaraderie, the friendships and bonding that comes from a mutual love of the team. The anticipation of a new season, the trip to the ground and seeing a sea of black and white, the songs, the displays. I fear this unprecedented crisis could harm the club. Who knows how long football will remain suspended? I have heard it suggested the lockdown could continue on and off for eighteen months! Let's hope that's wild speculation with no basis in reality, but then again isn't it best to be prepared? It will, hopefully, soon be owned by the community, and I think it must be preserved, whatever the cost. I have to assume that people who spend so much of their time on a forum dedicated to the discussion of St, Mirren care for the club, and are literally supporters of this cherished institution. Why else would they be here?

JC if he existed died in AD 33ish - the four Books of the New Testament are estimated to have been written between 70 & 110 AD. Interestingly Lord Balfour whose 1917 Declaration was a major step in the formation of modern Israel had strong Christian beliefs and according to many sources believed this would lead to the Second Coming - at the time he was heard to say "Armageddon outa here before it all blows up".

@shull By and large I've given up reading the right-wing snowflake blogs you post but the one you The Guardian supporting chartering planes to fly in foreign farmworkers is a misrepresentation - I know because I read The Guardian article online last week and they were merely reporting (not supporting) discussions between Concordia & the NFU to fill a small portion, 10k of the 90k needed, with foreign workers . I thought it was crazy to fly people in the current situation to do a job when as there must obviously be plenty UK citizens with time on their hands and the article .mentions plans to do so. Typical slanted right-wing snowflake blog! https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2020/mar/28/fruit-and-veg-will-run-out-unless-britain-charters-planes-to-fly-in-farm-workers-from-eastern-europe

Oaky was forecasting 600-700 by tomorrow, I was forecasting in excess of 500. His forecast may well be bang on. As you mentioned though, it’s meaningless. 60,000 people with the common cold die each year, which of course is meaningless. Strangely, TPAFTWAT appeared to think that people dying with the cold wasn’t meaningless? Shows lack of intelligence. The real figures to watch are excess mortality It’s very early days but excess mortality in England & Wales this year is currently negative. In other words, less people have died than usually do. Need to see how this rises.

You can't block the ports though Stuart, most of the islands aren't food producing for a start, mainland suppliers and keyworkers need access to the island network and there is always a chance that one person brings the virus on to the island. On the island that I know best there are no hospital beds as such, they have made a make-shift ward in a church hall. The Air Ambulance Service doesn't have any proper means to transport a Covid-19 patient, indeed Loganair converted a plane to be capable of carrying one passenger this week just to try and support the island communities.

Do you think we should put in restrictions like you’ve quoted above for a virus like the flu which has caused approaching 50,000 excess deaths in a bad season in the UK? The start of the debate should really be to ask how reliable the Imperial College forecast is and whether it’s anymore reliable than any of the alternative views from global experts? Can you tell us what data Imperial College based their forecast on and what assumptions they used? Can you tell us why you agree that the data they used is appropriate and why you agree with their assumptions?

I've noticed the "media" have switched a considerable amount of focus to the USA in their desire to give us bigger numbers. With Italy & Spain showing signs of evening out their desire to make this as dramatic as possible see's them quoting the new/total cases as a lead into the situation Stateside. The reporting, and I only see TV as I don't bother with newspapers, has confirmed my opinion that the major outlets are run by simpletons, although the desire from the public to lap it up is also a factor. The moronic questioning from various presenters is hard to believe at times, partly amusing, partly stunning in the pointless approach.

If St Mirren or Hamilton or Ross County were bottom of the League would there be a proposal to change the setup? I don't think so. This proposal is because it is Hearts. Relegate them, Utd come up and the play-off is between Hamilton and ICT as the League positions show. Leave as is.

I think the recent distribution of monies just shows how serious the SPFL takes its membership bar the ugly sisters. As the Stenhousemuir Chairman said " If the top teams take just a 20% cut then it would ensure that all survive...…….." The beautiful game- aye right- Montrose agree to 50% cut but Hearts mercenaries fight it We should have a top league of 18 / play each other twice - 34 games- Have additional games for top 6 - and have play offs at Hampden re promotion. Present system is not fair...………….. bottom 2 of top league go down/ 15th and 16th go into play off v 3rd and 4th of SPFL 2. Only have 36 League teams but help and invest more into Lower Leagues- and again keep promotion to SPFL 2 If Glasgow cnuts dont like it feck off to England with our blessing- our game wont die as many kids will start supporting other teams ,
