I think there is a growing level of dissatisfaction amongst our fans with our "we expect nothing- park the bus" approach to the Rangers and Celtic games. The first half was absolutely miserable to watch. Rangers were playing football and we were not. Personally, I would rather we played with more ambition and purpose. Bring back a bit of the Danny Lennon attitude and play our style of football. If 3 -0 becomes 4-0 so be it at least we would show some balls.

Well I am in that age bracket of having great memories of winning at the likes of Ibrox and Celtic Park now I fully appreciate all the talk of budgets etc but for heaven's sake we are a full time top league side and the performance yesterday was truly awful. It can't be dressed up in any other way when we won possession on many occasions we just made silly errors and gave the ball back to Rangers. We were caught in possession on many occasions and that made it easy for the opposition.I don't buy this thought from Jim that you can just take nothing from the Old Firm games for me then what's the point in turning up moreover you are not instilling any confidence in the players.Big. Issue at present is the squad is way too thin and I want to hear from our Chairman soon as the usual updates appear to have gone missing,.

Just saw the goals dreadful defending all 3 Negative set up, no belief in the team from the manager Beaten as soon as the coach pulls up at Ibrox A wee team playing at a big stadium instead of a full time team from the same league Sevco didn't need to be good as we gifted them the ball and turned the game into a training excerise Not good enough as we can't keep writing off 18 points a season The only good thing it highlights the need for more forward thinking players in the squad Never mind the gruesome twosome you going have problems against any team if you can't keep the ball for any length of time

Jim was quoted last week as acknowledging that his tactics against the better teams were perhaps too negative and constrained last season . Old habits die hard apparently.

The problem for me was psychological. The players looked terrified for whatever reason. No-one wanted the ball except McGrath who had some composure but little support. Bad decisions, shocking passing, being caught in possession and ball watching were the order of the day. I think Jim has to take some responsibility for the first half attitude in particular. The game plan looked like defend in depth in the first half then open up a bit in the second half if there wasn't much in the game. But the backs to the wall and blooter the ball anywhere does little to install confidence. How about next time we try a keep possession tactic?

    Effect of Coronavirus

OK so as I suspected, Sturgeon has confirmed that they used a software algorithm to downgrade students based on their school rather than the individual. Whoever thought that up is guilty of staggering incompetence. BUT our politicians are human. All we should demand is that when they f**k up, they apologise and fix it. In fairness to Sturgeon, she has done exactly that today and deserves a huge amount of credit. Particularly impressive was her saying that this didn't need the kids to get involved and that the government broke it so they'll fix it. Hopefully this can be done very quickly and obviously more detail will come tomorrow but the lesson here is that you should never fully delegate tasks to computer algorithms. The way software is designed these days (Agile) you can never fully trust them. I hope that lesson gets learned really quickly.

In the group stage we have drawn: St Mirren Morton QOTS Partick Thistle Queens Park Belter of a group and all great away days - apart from Morton. If only we were allowed to go... Jim Goodwin, Alex Rae, Jack Ross and Alan Stubbs have managed us in these group stages in 4 consecutive seasons. Only Stubbzo managed to get us out the group. Surely we won’t go out early doors again..

I believe I could be the only one that thinks this but if we are going to stick with the lone Striker it might make more sense to start Morais. For all the quality might not be there I think we need a Striker who is going to chase and hound their two central defenders. Kilmarnock pressed Celtic from the front and didn’t allow them to get into a rhythm. Big John does a great job at leading the line in most games, when he gets the support but this is a game where we will unfortunately be on the back foot for long periods. If you watch the Kilmarnock forward on Sunday, he ran the channels very well and dragged Julien & Ajer out of position. Our two wide men need to be disciplined in there cover of the opposing two full backs as I thought we got exposed on the wings an awful lot on Sunday when the two Rangers full backs overlapped. I agree with a post above. I would bring Thorvaldsson in and play him off Morais. Get the two of them to chase everything in the Celtic half of the pitch. Run themselves into the ground and then assess the game at the hour mark. Potentially bring on Obika. Who will be fresh and he could potentially look to unsettle Julien & Ajer. 4-4-1-1 for me. Same back four & goalkeeper. Move MacPherson back infield and partner him with Foley. Durmus & McGrath on the wings. Thorvalsson in behind Morais.

It has been said, that we didn't foresee a victory yesterday and no doubt one on Wednesday either but certainly, the lack of basic skills does send shivers of pessimism of fighting against relegation once again. For the last few years we've all had this conversation before and here we are again. Jim being a defender, as a player, has concentrated on defence given the players he's signed but there is a lack of forwards which hopefully can be resolved before the transfer window closes and I'm sure he will bring someone in. With regard to the 'missing' mid-field, we await the recovery of Flynn and Magennis who I'm sure will improve matters. Whilst the victory over Livingston was a relief, there were long periods of us being pinned into our own box. Nevertheless, it was a success but the forthcoming game against Hamilton may prove to be pivotal on how and if we have progressed since last season.

Interesting to listen to Tommy Wright on Sportsound podcast last Fiday. When talking about St Mrren going to Ibrox, he was asked about how difficult it is to go to the ugly sisters. He explained very clearly that the difficult part is not defending against the Old Firm, most teams can get men behind the ball. the most important aspect is when you do get the ball, do not give it back to them easily, try to hold it, take the steam out of the game. As I sat and watched the game, i could just hear his words coming back to haunt us! Hot potato fotball, In most cases 2 passes and Rangers had the ball back. Jim needs to get that part fixed. Not fair to comment on Obika, any worldclass striker would have been isolated on Sunday. Sadly might be more of the same on Wednesday.

As good as it is to see Saints players strictly observing social distancing, I'm not sure that during an actual match is necessary. That performance yesterday was so gutless that I'm reduced to making crap jokes like that as a coping mechanism. Maybe on Wednesday we can try showing up?

After that miserable first half , we looked a lot better at the start of the 2nd. I thought at that time that JG might have taken a chance and replaced McGrath and Sheron with McAllister and the Icelandic lad. Game was gone once the second went in. With big Jon wasted playing one up in these games , we have to start giving ourselves a chance !

Nonsense. It has little to do with the budget. Its about how hard you work at training and during the game, and how well motivated you are. That performance was embarrassing and shouldn't be excused because the other team are paid better.

I too have seen Obika play and its irrelevant that he has scored "sitters" a goal is a goal and you need to be in the right place at the right time to put them away. My personal opinion is he needs a foil to bring out the best in him he is never going to do it on his own thats not his game. I would love to know who we could bring in that will do any better on our budget and resources in your opinion. I think we need other options but will need to bide our time like any club at our level.

I understand, at this stage, playing both Rangers and Celtic, can seem worrying but I prefer to see the positive. These games, as you say are likely to produce zero points, but they are quickly gone. We can then concentrate on the games that we could/should be taking points. Also our rivals will still have to play them so we could start to have some comfort these rivals will drop points. It is what it is, still playing the same teams the same amount of times. It's about OUR performances, especially after Wednesday.

The one positive to draw from today’s game is that we have found ourselves a very competent Goalkeeper in Alnwick. A number of fine stops and his handling was excellent. Strikes a very good clean ball and is very sharp of his line. Also not scared to punch the ball when required. At the end of the day nobody would compare to Vaclac but I am certainly not worried with Alnwick as my last line of defence. Hands down (no pun intended) our MOM this Afternoon.

Killie showing that with effort and application the ‘gulf in class’ can be significantly narrowed. They might still lose but there’s no doubt they are in this game. Over recent years nearly everybody in the league has been able to notch something over one of the big two (usually Sevco). Our players consistently show an embarrassing ‘wee team’ mentality. I’d take a couple of hidings for the magic of an occasional victory. We never EVER look like getting one.

It's not about us losing. Most of us would probably expect anything more than that to be a good day at the office. It's the total lack of any cohesive play, the inability to keep the ball or find your own player with a pass. The players looked terrified. The attitude of both players and management was awful (with one or two exceptions) both before and during the game. Adopt the same approach on Wednesday and we'll get a sore one.

    Coronavirus

In any premises serving food there must either be an automatic machine which reaches above 82* for 30 seconds or 2 stage cleaning with one of the stages being bactericidal detergent, the stuff has a corrosive label on it and any prolonged contact with skin causes problems so I'd be confident any bacteria would be gone. Any debris in machine washed crockery is more likely due to a machine not being cleaned out sufficiently often rather than improperly loaded. Modern machines have jets above and below which rotate at a good speed.

Have to agree with your appraisal Sonny I would just add that we are a full time top league outfit not a League 2 part time side which is the way JG set us up I truly get all the budget stuff but surely it is the Manager's job to instill confidence and belief in his players then if not what the hell is the point in turning up.

I would absolutely love to know the criteria for A, choosing which child gets ‘Moderated’, B, the subject that gets moderated. And C the actual method? It’s my understanding that a random 25% were subject to ‘Moderation’ and that 93% of that 25% were downgraded. My daughter scored highest in her school for the physics prelim but got ‘modified’ down to a B, we checked with the school and they proposed an A1, we will appeal and likely win (since the supporting data is there), however as you say, what is the criteria or indeed the algorithm for moderation. To say I am disgusted is an understatement.
