It's the right decision IMO , and gives us a chance to get someone else in before Hibs ! JG knows Jacko's limitations , but he really should have brought him on for the injured Fraser on Saturday , if only to keep our shape .

Crazy decision unless we have another central defender coming in. Even when Shaughnessy returns we need cover. Personally I think Baird did ok when he had a quality centre half beside him directing him.

I think Goodwin is wrong. Bairdy would have been a good squad member. Goody must remember when Rae treated him and Thommo so badly. Not happy with St Mirren or Goody. Good luck Bairdy.

Jack has been here over the life of multiple coaches. I get he was a likeable character but more often than not he was well out of his depth in the top flight. He wasn't any better a player at 22/23 than he was at 18/19. Also, as a 24 year old with over 120 league appearances for the club, claiming he hasn't had "a chance" is staggering. In fact it's just completely wrong. Right move for everyone. Hopefully a better option coming to Paisley and he can get some more game time at an appropriate level. As for "scrap the academy" there is absolutely nothing about releasing Jack Baird that suggests a change in behaviour towards the academy or developing young players. Something St Mirren have undoubtedly been one of the best teams in Scotland at in recent years.

I liked Baird and would have been happy for him to stay but since the manager does not rate him, best for his own career to move on. Hope for himself he gets a better club that Morton to carry on with his career and i wish him all the best.

That's tragic and also scandalous. The policy of not treating what people have for fear of what they don't have is seriously flawed.

A mate of mine who'd been battling cancer for 2 years was told to self isolate, all his consultations and treatments were stopped (they assumed the big C was under control) and was put on repeat prescriptions of morphine from March till the end of June, he eventually got an appointment in early July to see his specialist were he was told his body was now riddled with the cancer, he was told there's nothing further they could do and said he would be dead in a few months, he was gone within 3 weeks.... You can only imagine the countless families up and down the country who've went through this exact situation....

A brief digression if I may (and I’m not specifically having a pop at SPS here). Where did this current penchant for using the word “alluded” come from? Don’t get me wrong, in context it’s a perfectly acceptable word, but nevertheless it’s one that previously no f**ker would have used and now everyone seems to be using it, particularly pundits. The point of this post is to ask the above question as well as mentioning two points of order. Firstly it is often misspelt as eluded (as SPS has done above). This means to escape from something. Secondly it is almost always used out of context. It means to hint at something or mention something indirectly. However, it is almost always used incorrectly to indicate that someone has simply said something. No no no no no. Here endeth today’s lesson. As always, here to help.

This is poor ,Jack ,with the right coaching to iron out his little wobble could have been a good centre half. You could never falt his effort. So are we now a club that does not give our own youngsters ,some that are with club 10 or more years ,a chance ? Back to old men that no one else wants and unproven Irish youngsters. Scrap the academy ?

🤣 Naw naw mate. Your misspelling was only a tiny part of it. There is a hugely important social point being made here. Some worry about coronavirus. Some worry about their job. I worry about why folk say stuff and educating those less cleverererer than masel. 😘

The NHS isn't doing this I've quoted most of the conversation, highlighted the link to the gov website which details the stopping of treatment, I've also highlighted several times you agreed that treatments have stolped while saying he is wrong. No one has said emergency treatments have stopped, but it cannot be argued that there has been no disruption to the NHS and people needing routine operations or non life threatening treatment. Gp appointments where possible are also carried out over the phone. My GP won't allow anyone in unless it cannot be done on the phone (and the stock answer is to write a prescription without knowing if its needed) , and my partners work which is a GP surgery is the same. You can say your not wrong as long as you want, but as highlighted above you have actually agreed with the point several times while ever so slightly moving the goalposts to say your not wrong. Anyway I've had enough, your like bazil mk2

    Coronavirus

In April during lockdown, after a GP phone consultation, I got an appointment, which involved an examination and a blood sample being taken. The GP had the full PPE ensemble, although I did note she didn't sterilise my arm before taking the blood sample. However, follow up appointments were by phone. Other folk at work had non-phone GP appointments during lockdown. Also, GP's are currently arranging hospital appointments for patients where required. My wife got a hospital appointment two weeks ago and was up at the RAH yesterday. My next door neighbour had an operation on her toe, at the end of June, which involved breaking her toe and putting in some metalwork. It had initially been postponed, but she was given a week's notice for the rescheduled operation. My mate had a bronchoscopy and chest x-rays during lockdown at the QE Hospital. However, with mitigations in place, there is no real reason why GP surgeries and hospitals shouldn't be significantly increasing their number of face to face appointments at present.

I've copied the important part of his quote below. What he said in that quote is a fact. By your very admission, some treatments were postponed. So it makes it true that people who needed medical treatment were denied. the majority of non Covid related medical interventions haven't been taking place, and while these are gradually coming back, they are still well below what would usually happen, with a massive backlog now in place.

I like Jack, I really do think he is a decent player who will only get better with experience. He does have a decent amount of experience already........he could easily be a good player for us with a long career. I do hope that Jim see's sense and plays the lad on Saturday, with McCarthy beside him I would not be overly concerned. Actually Jack could easily give Jim a selection problem when Shaughnessy is fit because he could be difficult to drop! Alas he will likely go elsewhere, to a rival team and carve out a good career, you know evolve into the type of player that we wish we had but can't afford! Mind the Dunfermline game? what a performance, what a performance indeed.
