    John McGinn

Privileged to watch this guy rise from being a wee bit in the stripes to Scotland stalwart and if not for Robertson, probable Captain. Top Premiership player and handsome bugger with royalty among his fans. He truly is living the dream and fair play to the lad... He has worked bloody hard to make it happen! I remember years ago, Saints v Celtic at home. Meatball had Scott Brown in his back pocket the whole game. He went in for one crunching "hard but fair" tackle on Brown... Who turned to the referee pleading for protection! McGinn just looked at Brown, put his fingers to his bottom lip, and mocked the Celtic skipper with a wibble wibble wibble gesture! Class. Used to be on YouTube but damned if I can find it. I said back then, he was not just a successor to Brown in the Scotland midfield, but would have been an improvement and one to build our midfield around for years to come and a potential Captain. Celtic fans scoffed and mocked... Bet they wish they had opened the biscuit tin after all! Proud of McGinn and privileged to have witnessed his development. What a guy. [emoji41][emoji1022]󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

  2. Well, what a performance. Some people let the result cloud our performance against the Czechs, we played well in that game as well. Last night wasn't a backs to the wall draw, it was a well deserved draw. Aye, Clarke, the critics will be back under their rocks. The reality is we almost certainly need a win on Tuesday but, considering the teams in our group that's all we could ask for, it's in our own hands. Can't wait till Tuesday.

McGinn is a level above McLean. Was also a level above him for St Mirren. Best player we have produced since the late 70s early 80s

  4. Imo this would be a good signing, the kind of player to do all the dirty work in midfield and allow the others to really show what they can do.

  6. The morning after the night before. Had a couple of pals round to watch the match last night & after a quick tidy up..... Just got a couple of loose ends to sort out (stain/paint/wax the bar) Was a good wee night last night, the first of a few to come. Faraway Saint, you got any photo's of your build yet? Cheers [emoji16]

  7. Kearney is a hugely talented manager. I've little doubt in my mind that had he stayed with us, he'd have been poached by bigger fish by now. The fact that he's a homebird is the only thing that will prevent him hitting his full potential as a manager.

Both good players but Meatball is far more effective and has the greater impact on a game, as demonstrated last night. He can do the defensive stuff and he's a constant threat where it matters. I would guess their respective transfer values would would back that up.

Really tough for me me to separate them. Very different type of players. Like comparing Stark with Abercrombie. Two of the finest talents we have produced in decades and proud of both.

Harry Kane perhaps ? Dykes has scored exactly the same number of goals in this tournament as every England player bar one. Does that make all of them duds ?

  20. Have completed the bottle of Pinot Grigio I started at half time, had a couple of calls from English friends congratulating me on Scotland's performance and one more delighted at Pickford's performance than the rest of the team (once a mackem [emoji5]) looking forward to congratulating my colleagues on plucky England managing to hold the mighty Scotland to a nil nil draw [emoji3]

Would seem an unlikely signing. Jim was quick to move Sam Foley out. Power looks like a player who has been good but is slowing down.

  38. I would not have picked Dykes before the game. But he proved me 100% wrong. Bullied and won headers all-night long, thought he had a great game and did what he was there to do. If folk cannot see what he brought to game last night then then can chuck watching fitba.

Who was the big guy playing up front for England tonight ? He was fonking useless from the first minute until he was subbed near the end. His shirt said KANE on the back but based on that invisible display he wouldn't get a start for St Mirren in a bounce game.

Ok 1-1 draw, best we could hope for I guess, we now need at least a point against England to give us a fighting chance of qualifying!

  44. Can't see why any of our supporters wouldn't wish Ilkay all the best in his new club. Considering the important contribution he made for us, I'm just glad he's not lining up for one of our rivals in the Premiership. Always seemed like a decent bloke. As for Lyons, no harm to him, but he was only an OK player for us, I thought. Nothing special. Likely to be the same for Killie in the Championship.

The doom and gloom on here just because 2 players have left its part and parcel of football, there is plenty plenty time for our Jim to get the players in we need to compliment what we already have and to also add to them and enhance. Calm down just a tad folks

There are THOUSANDS of decent players out there with bucketloads of pace looking for a deal for 2021-22 (and beyond) who would be happy to sign for us that are within our budget limitations. Nothing to worry about. Losing Durmus and Connolly is (at worst) an inconvenience, there are plenty of more than capable replacements out there. Trust in Goody !!!
