Naw. Only played 40 games in last 4 years and that was in the Japanese 3rd division, Iran, Bangladesh and Indian Premier Leagues. Scored 8 goals in those 4 years. Let's just keep the happy memories.

I was it comparing Dykes with Isma - simply underlining that Martindale has an eye for a player. Isma for me, despite his historic goal scoring, always seemed half-hearted and lazy. He got lucky in that short period.

  5. As you see, I favour the sharing of ideas with the extreme comfort that I will never be tasked with putting them into action! But ..keeping the fans in the loop has never been more important. (SS)

  6. But as a fan based organisation is the majority shareholder we shoiuld at least be aware of what has been considered and rejected not just expected to take it on trust that the ideas have been considered impractical before being expected to empty our wallets on the table!

  7. I suggest we groundshare with Sevco at Ibrox. 6 games against the OF alone at that stadium would dwarf any income we can make in Paisley. And if we don’t do this them I’d like the moaning minnies to explain how they will make up the shortfall

  9. Regardless of the debate on whether he's still good enough, he never returned to play when he was at Hearts so I'd like to think he'll get a massive ovation from St. Mirren supporters for what was just an unbelievable spell with us. Absolutely loved watching the big guy when he was in the mood.

  11. The EFL have decided to fall into line with the Premier league concerning transfer window. Any transfer business can only start on the 10th June so any players we might sign from England won't be made public until then.

  12. At least you are admitting there are issues at the club. It is rather pompous and dismissive of you to suggest that fans don’t have the ability to have ideas that affect their club. It’s amazing when you keep taking the stance that the board are all fans.

  16. Glad we haven't resigned him but he must have a great agent who can get him a 2 yr deal considering where he been playing (sometimes) in the 1st 4 yrs.

  17. Main and Erwin have both made substantially more appearances and scored far more goals over the last 4 years yet not deemed good enough. And both are younger (Isma is 31 in June). Maybe the Japanese 3rd Div is better than I am giving it credit for. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk

  18. I’ve just bought my season ticket. I thought long and hard about it. I grudgingly paid my £335. It’s the first time in 40plus years I have had very real second thoughts. I have not made up my mind about attending the Rangers or Celtic games. I will decide on the day. I might not be able to attend some of the now more common Friday night or Sunday lunchtime games so the season ticket probably does not make much personal financial sense any more. I coughed up to help the club I have supported over the years. My brand loyalty has been severely stretched. If a plumber, joiner or lawyer treated me in the way the directors of St. Mirren have recently I would take my business elsewhere. Much like my gas and electricity suppliers they have a virtual monopoly position. If I went to the cinema and had to listen to a number of folk singing sectarians songs while sitting in the freezing cold watching a boring movie I would just leave and never return. I certainly would not consider buying a season ticket for the so called family stand only to have my seat re-allocated three times a season. Looking round the stadium in the last weeks of the season there was a clear lack of young folk in most parts of the ground. The ever increasing cost of living will force many to rethink where to spend their leisure cash – if they have any. I gave up travelling to away games last season. Fan ownership seems to be pretty meaningless. So St. Mirren directors, like I suspect many season ticket holders, I have signed up for another full season but it might well be my last.

He's made plenty of dodgy signings in the forward areas. In fact his only decent forward signing has been Bruce Anderson. Look at duds like Panayioutou, Chukwumeka, Reilly, Nouble. I'm not saying Isma is a bad signing, nothing like it but he's been kicking about Asia for a long time playing 6 and 7 games a season here and there and is now 30. He did well at Tashkent after he left Hearts but since? Not a lot of football or minutes on the park and not a great return in the last 4 years. I'm not saying he won't chip in with the odd goal but sometimes cult heroes are best left as such. Livi are now also his twelfth different club in only 9 years since leaving us. I'm pretty confident he's not what we need.

Livi confirmed the transfer today. If he’s deemed good enough by that Livi squad by Martindale, I’d have had him in a shot. Martindale knows how to put together a strong team at this level.

  21. The directors are responsible for the running of the club. To put responsibility onto the fans regarding the family stand is an abdication of responsibility. To ask us to pay more to make up for their decisions is unforgivable. Since this was introduced home support in every section of the stadium has been dropping at these games. It is common knowledge. The directors set the budget and therefore it is they who should solve the problem. The impression given in pre-season ticket publicity was that the family stand season ticket prices would be adjusted depending on the result of the survey and that supporters would then be informed of the decision made. ‘We will be sending the survey to current Season Ticket holders, SMiSA members and fans who have previously registered for tickets by the end of May and look forward to collaborating with you on the best outcome for the club and the fans. Once we receive your feedback, we will consider it carefully and announce our final decision before the start of the season’. ‘The feedback will then be analysed and a decision made on the arrangements for the upcoming season. This will be announced on 17 June, allowing a further two weeks to purchase tickets at the early bird price once a decision has been made’. Only when the survey was opened did we find that any family stand changes were for the following season. ‘As such it is our plan is to change to allocating three stands to Home fans in Season 2023/24’. ‘We would also like to be able to give three stands to Home fans for all games in the coming season, 2022/23. However, doing so would leave a gap in the budget, which is already set, of £100k (each game we fill the family stand with away fans is worth around £35k)’. There has beenmisrepresentation of a decision already made. Supporters here rightly point out we are not filling the family stand. We never will if this continues. The directors should adjust the budget accordingly and begin to rebuild relationships with the supporters, instead they do more of the same and expect a different outcome, even stating they want to add a further 300 season ticket holders! I expect season ticket sales will drop this season. They should join us and buy season tickets at padded seat prices to help. In the pastdirectors paid for tickets and ties and suits. According to a Rangers supporting business colleague who was there, one ‘St Mirren’ director did manage to attend Rangers celebrations. Although I was unwell I am also informed on good authority that only two directors bothered to support the club’s annual dinner. If directors don’t bother, why should we and why should we be squeezed even more?

Then… … for you, it’s got to be the new Top Gun/Maverick - and see it on the biggest screen that you can. Amazing. I didnae fancy it, wisnae seduced decades ago by the first one, but this is a corker of a film. A storyline (same as Dambusters) which we get drummed into the possible crews heads (as well as ours) and we learn that for it to work - at least two miracles need to happen. Tom Cruise is the Maverick miracle worker, at 60 yo, training a younger generation of Top Guns. There are other story lines, adding interest, complexity and personal stuff. It's witty, funny and, ( being an Amurrikan film), sometimes slumping into sentimental and nationalistic emotion. but it never stops moving, changing and driving towards its blockbuster finale. very satisfactory night out. I liked it. ps some reviews that I read note that there is no specified baddie nation that USA is “having to attack”, but I distinctly heard twice that the goal was to “take out an Iranian nuclear enrichment installation”. Not Russian, not Chinese. Wouldn’t want to annoy the censors of a movie-watching nation, after all.

Would bring him back in a heartbeat. It would give a boost around the club & likely have a bit of a commercial knock on as well which would offset any wage even if he didn’t come good. If he is however being linked to Livi, he is surely on a similar level to a player that would boost our frontline.

  26. I personally don’t think a lot of the ‘issues’ last pre-season & into the new season were that big a deal, yes. In fact almost all of them have now been resolved. The last bit you’re claiming is simply false though. What you’re actually saying here is, some people get upset & annoyed when they can’t change my views on certain things regarding the club. Other St Mirren fans are welcome to think they are big/ systemic/ really concerning problems, I don’t need to agree. And I absolutely do not demean anyone that disagrees with me on the issues. In my experience, you have a FAR bigger issue with people disagreeing with you than I do.

  33. Basil forgets that this is a fans forum where we get to moan, chew the fat, berate, cheer or congratulate the club. None of us are experts at running the club, however our opinion does count because, when you get down to it we are customers of a business. The guys that are on the board (now not playing fans) never had any experience of running a club until they went on the board. So why do they have better ideas than the paying fan/customer. Maybe there are successful business Rascals on this forum whose life experience and knowledge of businesses have some validity rather than being pigeonholed as a moaning supporter with hairbrained ideas.

  34. A man of many ideas, some of them poor / good / excellent…..take your pick. Not a bad description of many of us on here perhaps. The problem is that the business runs in real time with (as always) limited resources. So, whilst I personally love the thought that fans can and should be encouraged to put forward ideas there also has to be an acceptance that these will be decided upon by the board and , if researched and implemented, that this be part of the ongoing improvement plan.

  35. I prefer to be a challenger than a YES man. Yes men think they are helping but are more often the problem. There are no golden tickets to any ideas without time, momentum, effort, market demand and people. When your finished reading your Andrew Carnegie biography please advise on what award wining initiatives you have come up with. (Doing a survey to ask the fans form more money has been done already)

Would still have taken him even as a risk. Would have almost certainly linked to a rise in some commercial areas like shirt sales with younger fans. Every striker at our level is a big risk, it’s the one position that comes at a real premium. At least this way, the risk is mitigated slightly. Who knows, Isma could be another Lee Erwin this time. But you know who else could be a Lee Erwin? Lee Erwin 😂

  41. I agree. It is an advantage to all narrow wisdom and narrow morals that their maxims have a plausible air; and, on a cursory view, appear equal to first principles. They are light and portable. They are as current as copper coin; and about as valuable. They serve equally the first capacities and the lowest; and they are, at least, as useful to the worst men as to the best. Of this stamp is the cant of not man, but measures; a sort of charm by which many people get loose from every honourable engagement. Edmund Burke He also said... Evil will, so good must. and... ‘The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.’
    1 point
  42. I’m agreeing with you. Lets be better and smarter than St Johnstone, give them all the tickets for the game and cash in. In fact lets rename the ground for their visits to Lesser Ibrox and Lesser Parkhead. Our Directors could introduce a NotSoLoving Cup and welcome the Directors of the respective Clubs to drink from it for invading our Stadium and cashcowing our season. For each of the games we should remove the seats as they don’t use them and it will save them getting damaged. We could even make more money from the Rangers Fans by importing Bottled Seville Toilet Water and selling it at a premium.

  44. 👏 We are informed that the custodians are fans. Maybe the prawn sandwiches have forgotten what its like to be in the body of the support. Selling out to the easy pound is not the solution. Building a long term strategy to increase season ticket holders, revenue streams and sustainability in the club is the solution. Basil has gone to great lengths to shoot down many of the ideas put forward because they are not the golden goose. However ideas need work, effort and momentum to grow. Our ideas seem limited to putting the responsibility of the filling of the stands or substituting the revenue to the current fan base they already have.

That headline doesnt say a lot. Their biggest transfer kitty ever just means they might have a slightly bigger budget than 2 years ago - when they were relegated. Picking up players like Alan Power doesnt exactly scream top 6. They were really poor last season yet have re-signed the likes of Hodson and Waters at full back. I predict another struggle for them.

  46. I pay my SISA funds to help ensure the club's future, not to subsidise the club because they have decided to forgo perfectly good revenue streams to appease moaning Minnies.* *I feel like Shill, Faraway, etc, being so childish. But this has really pissed me off, to be honest. ETA response to quote below: I 100% disagree with this. We're now fan owned, so the club absolutely should 'listen to the fans'. We get to choose exactly what you have suggested, and for me it's not a difficult choice.

Ok, let's have an LBGT+ section, an obese people's section, a "small person" section, a long legged people's section, a colour-blind people's section and a shull's aliases section. I also think you're being a bit patronising in assuming that LBGT+ people would automatically want to sit next to a bunch of other LBGT+ people. The point about inclusion is to include people, not segregate them.
