We make a wee bit revenue on the site through the advertisements we run. It's not a massive amount but it does cover our hosting costs, and the licenses for the forum software etc.. There's a bit left over after those costs, so I've decided, on behalf of you lot who at the end of the day ensure the ads make money, to use that to donate to the Help A Buddie scheme. So today I've purchased 10 tickets to allow fellow buds in the community get along to a game they could not otherwise get to. This is probably the most difficult time to ask supporters to dig deep for even more money to support their club but I'd hope that some local Saints friendly businesses might step up and match us. If you do, then you can purchase the tickets here; https://www.stmirren.com/tickets.shtml20 points

Because the agreement Hibs made with us is that we get a 30% sell on of any transfer fee Hibs get for McGinn. We already made significant money when he went to Villa and another hefty sum when they went up, so we do get a cut of any clauses as well. It turns out Hibs negotiated in turn a 15% sell on for any profit made on McGinn which means they are obligated to give us almost a third of their 15% sell on. Hibs chairman confirmed as much at their AGM 2 seasons ago. In addition to this, there is 5% set aside in every transfer in world football for a solidarity fee to be paid to clubs that train a player up and the cut increases as the player develops. In our case, we trained John from 13 (when the fees start to kick in) until 20 and are due 3.5% of any future transfer fee involving him. Hibs trained him from 21-23 and so are due 1.5%. So for example, based on say, a £30m transfer, the money would be broken down as follows: £30m transfer less £3m Villa paid = £27m profit. Hibs take a 15% cut of that £27m = £4.05m Hibs pass 30% of that to SMFC = £1.21m 5% of the 30m transfer is also set aside = £1.5m Hibs get 1.5% of that 5% = £450k We get 3.5% of the 5% = £1.05m Hibs make £3.3m in sell on and developmental fee St. Mirren make £2.25m in sell on and developmental fee5 points -

Jack Ross Must Go.
eastlandssaint and 2 others reacted to Balmullo Bud for a topic
Apparently Ross is wanting to take Jamie McGrath to Tannadice… It hasn’t worked out for McGrath at Wigan so far, but surely that would be a backwards move for him. I know he got injured and struggled to get his place back so who knows. Jamie did a great job for us but Ronan is a better player.3 points -

I liked Ross, I would have taken the Sunderland job at that time as well (although I would have bought Saints players for vastly inflated prices once there 😉 ) and I think he was hard done to in both Sunderland and Hibs, having said that I hope we stuff United at every possible opportunity next season and I look forward to him applying for a job with us when we establish ourselves in the top 6 and he's looking for a big club to join.3 points -

Well documented issues off the pitch, but the wee man was a class act for us and he was one of the main reasons we lifted the cup in 2013 that season. His winning goal against the Govan mob that Christmas Eve was one of the best Christmas presents I ever got too. Cheers Gowser. 👍3 points -

Very generous of you W6er. I voted yes to this , so will support it too. I see where you are coming from but I will leave the mechanics of it to the club. In a perfect world I would want to bring in - past or present supporters who can’t attend because of cost and people young and old who enjoy football but can’t attend because of cost (ideally with no strong affiliation to other Scottish teams). I suggest that it is the clubs and fans jobs to welcome them, the manager and team’s job to entertain them with the aim of them looking forward to coming back and telling others about their experience.3 points -

Ronan won't be coming back to us and I doubt he'll be coming back to Scotland either. Outwith the Old Scum the only clubs who have paid in excess of a £500k fee in recent years have been Aberdeen and Hibs. Both can currently afford that but I doubt he will agree to go. He'll want to prove himself at a higher level and, much as we don't like to admit it, playing in the English Championship would be a step up, not to mention a 5 figure/week wage.2 points -

I hope it's quicksand. Paul Sturrock was a cheating we arsewipe that continually backed into defenders to win fouls. A despicable wee bawbag. One of my happiest experiences was the penalty shoot-out that kept us in the Premier and confined them to the Oblivion league. I hope Ross fails massively. This job is his last chance saloon. If he gets sacked here he is stuffed !!2 points

An Australian international who's recently played for Maccabi Haifa! That sounds promising. He's only played 9 games for the Israelis, and his Wikipedia page states 'Strain did not feature in either [Australia] game, with media reports suggesting that he had injured his hamstring.' There's a ready made song for him...1 point

Not an activity I have ever attempted, nor wish to. I think it would be quite difficult - a whole, boiled egg would be too large to comfortably fit in one's mouth and would be rather an unpleasant experience, possibly inducing panic or the fear of suffocation. Of course, you're free to suck whatever you want. @Rascal - I wonder how one will qualify for it? If it's not means tested, I reckon we might see @faraway saint and @shull back in the ground! Seriously, though, how does the club simultaneously preserve recipients' dignity and stop freeloaders from taking advantage? I mean, there's no shame in being in receipt of benefits, but some people may well find being asked to queue up with proof quite a demeaning experience. Again, I believe priority should go to those who've bought tickets in the past but have fallen on hard times - those people have supported the club, and it would be nice to return the favour. The whole idea is wonderful, it's just the implementation that may be difficult.1 point
