  1. The current set up has all the hallmarks of a failing organisation. While everything wasn't sunshine and roses under GLS, much of that related to one bad decision (appointing Stubbs) and the length of time it took to recover from that. Other issues were minor in comparison to what we have now. Then, we had monthly communication from the chairman, low turnover of background staff and while we might complain there could have been greater innovation commercially to maximise income, generally the fans felt valued. Now, we have high turnover of staff, people being appointed to high profile positions and then leaving two months later, Board members resigning and fans finding this out only by doing Google searches, some people in positions of authority not even employed by us, boundaries blurred between Kibble and us, a board at war with each other, trust gone to the extent lawyers letters are allegedly being sent, a chairman making dodgy tweets and being fined as a result, total non communication, no direct answers to legitimate questions about the early season ticketing shambles and capacity debacle, Kibble appointees to the Board failing to attend not one but two meetings with SMISA members, SMISA trying to fill a vacant position on the Board by undemocratic means, and the fans, who are meant to own the club, being kept in the dark by our so called representatives. These are not short term teething problems but systemic issues; the whole thing is a shambles and we need to rip it up and start again. Time for Basil the ostrich to wake up to what's happening.

  2. At least many more people are reading this thread and commenting on it. It’s very important that this remains a debate and discussion rather than a tit for tat point scoring exercise. However it’s hard to agree when we see comments here like Baz85’s that problems have been ‘most short term’ and what he refers to as ‘legacy issues’ that pre-date Kibble. Or that tensions are the result of the Chairman’s ‘idiotic tweets’. Tensions? It’s open boardroom warfare. Believe me Baz, while you may think problems short term I’d ask you just to take a look around at matches. Listen to fellow fans like I do, saying how disillusioned they are, not with the poor results but with the club in general for all the reasons that appeared earlier on this thread. Looking across to the West Stand in midweek in a ‘crowd’ of 2,300 I knew we were about 1000 down on season ticket holders, let alone PATG. We scraped 6,000 v Rangers with them in two stands. Crowds are down and dropping, which has been the case right from the off. (For comparison November 23 2019. Saints 2 Ross County 1 Attendance 4,708). I knew there and then that stadium catering was suffering sales-wise. That the 1877 club would be suffering. That costs across the board were probably outstripping income. All of which hurts the club. All the talk I hear is that problems kicked in from the point Kibble’s new professionalism became involved and started a systematic clear out of anyone they could not control. I won’t list them all again, its easier to say Tommy Docherty, Campbell Kenney and one of the back office are all that’s left at the ground. Furthermore two Kibble attempts to discredit the club and remove one or more directors without so much as a care for fans and other shareholders let alone SMISA have now failed. And a Digby Brown lawyer/director has tendered his resignation without even a thank you from the club. Well if it matters to Digby Brown it bloody well matters to me and almost every fan I spoke to today and for the past umpteen weeks. Chris Stewart is a loss to the club. These people are playing fast and loose with our club because they do not care. It is not the club they support and they have not put one penny of their own money into it! Think about that. And remember it does not matter a damn to them what league we play in. If we were to be relegated they would not lift a finger to help us back. Even though I agree John Needham’s online comments were not the actions I would expect from a St Mirren director he must be supported in his efforts to protect the club. What's next then? Here’s something to think about. Our AGM. None of the Kibble representatives on our board have yet faced any kind of scrutiny or questioning from St Mirren supporters or shareholders. It would suit them perfectly to continue this situation by selecting another ZOOM style AGM. This must be avoided at all costs. I would suggest they will (if they turn up) face a forensic grilling at a physical AGM. I’d suggest the 1877 club as a venue for its capacity, high ceiling and space if social distancing is an issue to ensure this happens. When we played that 2019 game against Ross County we finished the season with the club united as never before. Outsiders have since found a way in and destroyed any semblance of unity within our club. They don't care. They joke about it and one of them not so long ago loved to show his pals a St Mirren strip on his mobile only in green and white. Attempting to re-write what has been going on since the professionals of Kibble arrived and began to take over almost every aspect of the running of OUR club like does nothing to add to the debate. I hope, just hope, others agree with that and that an AGM MUST be face to face!

  3. Let's face it we're St Mirren, we go through a run of games like this every season in the top flight, Goodwin's biggest downfall this season is his failure to replace Durmas and Connolly, a major part of any success we had last term came through them, replacing them with 2 natural wing/full backs has been a massive downgrade on last season.. Surely this has got to be addressed in the transfer window, if not I fear the worst..

  4. I genuinely wonder if all the off field issues have played a part in the dip in form on the pitch. In my current work, two service managers have just left in acrimonious circumstances, those that remain have to apply for their own jobs, there is a total lack of communication from senior management and there is a complete lack of direction. Sound familiar? The result is a demoralised workforce and usually competent people making stupid mistakes, and some people going missing in action. Currently, JG will have no real support above him, given JN is allegedly at war with Kibble, SMISA caught in the middle, and Tony being...well, Tony. All compounded by zero communication. While JG has made mistakes, most notably sticking to 3 at the back and his inability to find a goal scoring striker, but i think the main problems with our club are firmly at Board level.

  5. The statement tonight from Smisa regarding Alec White mentions he will join Messrs Needham , Scott and Wardrop , as Smisa's reps on the BOD. I think we can take it from that , that if JN gets his knuckles rapped for his comments, then Smisa , the major shareholder , will stand by him , which , IMO , is the way it should be !

I have decided against my better judgement to head to Tynecastle on Saturday. Called the ticket office only to be told that they don’t/can’t post tickets out, they aren’t available online, no cash turnstiles and that I would need to collect them in person which would entail a roughly a 120 mile round trip to do this. It really shouldn’t be that difficult to purchase tickets. Clubs, not just ours, need to waken up and realise that we are customers and we can walk away as a few have done since the pandemic started.

  7. JN sat entirely on his tod yesterday in the St. J directors box. No sign of the other directors or Tony. He needs to resign before the sfa hearing or the club needs to come out in support of him and move on. We can’t allow the sfa to decide the outcome. For me he can’t stay with any credibility.

  9. Remarkably, I feel like I’m in the minority when I say: ’ I don’t want a self confessed bigot to be chairman of St Mirren ‘ What times we live in. Time to go John. You know it as well as we all do. Monday morning is resignation day. Get your letter in and let us all move on. We were fine before you came and we will be fine after you leave.

  10. SMISA "leadership" sold SMISA members on a deal to reduce fan ownership which SMISA members lapped up. It was a done deal and reported on the press before SMISA members had even approved the deal. The deal was not necessary. It went against what I and other SMISA members bought into. Regardless... It was approved and that's democratic. Hindsight is a great thing. I felt from day one that fan ownership should be just that. Fan owned but not fan managed! SMISA could have employed professionals to fill the skills gaps. That was my expectations. Now? Divided/shared ownership. Everything in the club filters down from that. We are reaping what we have sewn.

  11. Correct, but if Kibble aren't happy with things (as a minority shareholder), they are welcome to put their price (for their shareholding) to SMISA & SMISA can ask it's members if they want to buy Kibble out. If suggestions elsewhere about Kibble taking legal action against The Club to have John Needham removed as chairman are true. The working relationship has broken down (irrepairably i'd say) & Kibble should put together an exit strategy & put it to SMISA. Oh, I'm in the John Needham to stay camp. He hasn't committed a crime. I expect officials at other clubs have, on occasion, forgotten the responsibilities of their roles & not been hounded out. John Needham shouldn't be either. A big reminder of "say what you like about them (whoever "them" may be) in private. Never in public" & lets get back to important matters. The football.

  12. He made a stupid mistake. He has apologised to Sevco and St Mirren. He called out the Sevco fans for behaviour that was selfish and putting lives at risk through the spreading of Covid before the vaccination was in place. Everyone in the country was making big sacrifices at that point. Sevco as a club and their players actively encouraged this behaviour. No action from the SFA. Their fans on their recent visit to St Mirren Park spray painted graffiti around the stadium, broke more than 100 seats and sang sectarian songs. No action from the SFA (as far as I’m aware?) Did Sevco apologise to St Mirren for the damage their ‘supporters’ caused that day? John Needham let St Mirren down badly with his use of language in criticising Sevco fans, due to his position on the Saints board at the time. I was initially split down the middle about whether he should resign or not, but as time goes on and we all reflect on the blind eye that the SFA have turned towards the “Old” Firm for decades, especially the blue half, I think his apology is enough. I understand people saying that he is sinking down to Sevco levels, but there’s a big difference. Two wrongs don’t make a right, but at least he has taken responsibility for his unacceptable behaviour and said sorry, unlike Sevco. All the other Scottish clubs need to stand up against the institutionalised bigotry that seems to be accepted by the SFA, as well as the preferential treatment that the pair of them receive and John Needham resigning is giving in to them. Time to move on.

  14. Agreed, December was always looking like a month that could decide what we're battling for after New Year. Got to be honest and say I'm already back to the bad old days looking for teams below us to keep losing, that's worrying.

  15. It's been public for 10 days. So hardly just now. Respectfully, your definition of it being public is different from mine. My thoughts are that the club should make an announcement on such an important development and not rely on one curious fan having to dig into company house records.

  16. A complete wall of silence to do with the running of the club We’ve between us all listed multiple failures, from the basic things like they literally do not answer the phone or emails and to my knowledge, it’s the first time we have lost a shirt sponsor mid contract ? Ticket fiascos, Double sponsored shirts being punted/returned, etc etc Is this what the partnership was supposed to be achieving ? Nobody can continue to spout the ‘early days’ pish It’s a complete mess and looks like getting worse

  17. For me since kibble became involved nothing had improved for the fans. The leadership of the club is non existent and for your ordinary fan things are worse in every department out with the playing side. You can’t tell me that the organisation, Communications and General running of the club are better. Nobody answers the phone and I feel less close to our team than I ever have. Let’s go back to paying our money to actually own our club. Time for the kibble to go

  18. The punishment more than fits the crime in my opinion. Mr Needham appears to be a thorn in the kibble’s side and I hope he remains to be so. Otherwise a kibble yes man could be appointed to the board under the guise of a SMiSA member. I mean no harm to kibble but if allegations of them having thrown the chairman under a bus because they don’t like him are true, then a very close eye needs to be kept on future appointments to the board.

  19. What a pile of wank indeed. First of all, being so quick to jump on social media to decry the club is not the behaviour befitting a supporter. It is the behaviour of an attention seeker. Secondly, the club have acted properly and professionally in maintaining a dignified silence. The matter has been heard, the bunnet's in blazers have acquiesced to the blue bigots and a meaningless punishment has been brought upon our fine club. The matter is closed and I commend the club in its actions thereafter. Well done The Saint Mirren Professional Football Club Pte Ltd Co, well done indeed.

  21. I don't think it was particularly funny, if it came from someone else I would have breezed past it. But I think this demonstrates you don't really understand why many St Mirren fans have issue with it. It's nothing to do with how funny/ unfunny someone finds it or if it offends (certainly doesn't offend me & I doubt it offended many Sevco fans) or not. It's about his position, the professionalism and complete lack of awareness regarding the position he's put himself and the club in. Given he has publicly apologised, seems John himself realises he has made an a**e of it.

Four months on and nothing has improved. 1.you can’t get through to the club as nobody answers the phones. 2. To buy a ticket living fair distance away is a nightmare. People have no chance of getting one with this nonsensical format of having to go to the ticket office. 3. When you do turn up there is no que but still you need to wait 10 mins watching the only staff member fails to acknowledge me whilst on a phone call? I mean what is that all about. 4. when entering the shop to buy some kits your told we only have A handful of gk kits and we aren’t getting anymore. I mean a premier league club with say six kits and no socks to go with them. So how many children will want the kit but will be disappointed. Only last season all 3 colours were available? What again is going on. I also couldn’t get a five year old a pair of home shorts today? It’s absolutely terrible that our club is not capable of doing better. 5 The panda club was meant to return v Dundee then it was Livingston and now it’s Hibs. Unbelievable that a premier league club can’t get this sorted and worse still communicate this ? My son was left not knowing if it was on or off against Dundee ? Young fan disappointed and we can’t afford this. The chairman said on sept 6 we are listening and we will improve ? I mean even the pie stalls have a limited menu these days. No burgers or hot dogs for the kids. How much cash are we losing . Also I believe people are not attending in the same numbers. Sure many reasons but how many have we lost because of the absolutely terrible customer service and fan experience we offer.

I'm not going to games, at the moment... Here are some reasons that might apply to me and perhaps others? No thanks or recognition, none whatsoever, for season long financial outlay during season of no attendance, (didn't watch online) No invitation, email or otherwise, to renew season ticket, #INYOUWETRUST is crass, Red zone and restricted attendance shambles, No contact to advise if I did by a season ticket my seat was not available because of the red zone, No contact to advise if I did by a season ticket , because of the red zone, I would be moved to somewhere else, No contact to advise the red zone is no longer in place and I can have my seat as normal, Both ends of the ground being allocated to an away team, St Mirren Directors being supporters of other (Glasgow) clubs, SMISA appointment of Directors without a members vote, Shambolic organisation of club services, Rumours of Directors infighting, power struggle, Dissatisfaction with Kibble or ownership structure, It's too cold, Football is not very good, COVID is still an issue, Other things taking priority now, Just some thoughts... take your pick, No doubt I'll be back, one day soon, don't know when though...

  27. Ok you've caught me in your web. I cannot recall attending any AGM, and I have attended many, that a Director has chosen to not attend. I would consider it an unwritten duty for a Director to attend an AGM and for you to think otherwise puts some doubt in my mind about your lack of knowledge of business etiquette. If that is not the case it proves that anybody saying black you would automatically say white.

  28. Well, Bazil, there you have it - you have removed any doubt in my mind that you have a Kibble agenda. It's there for us all to see. You don't think that the Kibble directors need to be at the AGM? What nonsense! They have steadfastly refused to have face to face contact with other shareholders and fans, indeed no direct contact at all! The Kibble have been on our board since March 2020 and yet you're trying to pin the blame on our chairman? In spite of my using temperate, calm language on here you resort to emotive, argumentative phrases such as "The moaners on this website are consistently shown not to be a majority of our fans". Let me to adopt one of your favourite cliché's - where is your evidence? You are correct in saying that "Kibble will be changing things behind the scenes regarding our operations" but, sadly, it's not for the better - and the evidence is there for everyone to see. You even tie yourself in knots in your attempt to defend your Kibble paymasters/pals when you declare "Not attending AGM/ Meetings. This isn’t a big deal for me, it further fuels the us vs them mentality. Kibble directors are part of the St Mirren board & the St Mirren family." It's the opposite - if Kibble were part of the family they would be in attendance but they are cute - I'm certain they are already planting seeds for non attendance because they simply do not want to face the shareholders. It's unheard of for two board members to constantly avoid the fans scrutiny and it's certainly unethical. Referring back to my post I asked simple questions i.e. "Bazil, do you agree that they should in all good conscience attend the AGM in person and face up to the questions that will undoubtedly be posed from the members" In replying that you don't, you have put on display for the entire forum to see that you have an agenda and now, more than ever, I'm confident that you have a Kibble connection, whether that be as an employee or not. I also asked "Do you think that they should confirm or deny that they have issued a legal threat?" Like Trump and Johnson you completely failed to answer that simple question instead you answered like a slippery, dishonest politician and said "why Kibble are being automatically labelled the bad guy for this when our chairman has just been fined by the SFA for his behaviour online. " My point is not, and never has been, about John Needham - that's a separate issue and you have tried to muddy the waters by bringing him into this exchange. You are very aware that the club is in a downward spiral. You are as aware as anyone of the dangers they pose to our club yet you still defend them. You refuse to carry out the research I asked of you. Refused to ask questions. Shame on you, sir, you do not have St.Mirren's best interests at heart. I have tried reasonable, logical debate but you have an agenda, that much is obvious. It's clear that many contributors here hold your "opinions" with contempt and I only hope that those that don't can now be persuaded to see through your clear agenda. I'll sum up by leaving your quote so that your unreasonable, illogical stance can be highlighted. At a time when Kibble have threatened legal action against the custodians of our club your view is this: "Kibble directors are part of the St Mirren board & the St Mirren family. Do I think every director needs to be present at an AGM? No I don’t. " Wow. That says it all.

  30. I was against Kibble's involvement from the first day it was mooted. To my mind, it went against everything that the Buy the Buds idea was based on. But it was passed, so I was prepared to give it a chance. However, despite all the much publicised advantages we stood to gain from (a much greater level of professionalism, better 'brand management', etc) we've seen no sign of anything positive from Kibble's involvement. That's not the same as saying it's been a clusterf*ck, but it's certainly not been a positive partnership thus far.

  31. I thought there was a lot of good football to watch today. We created a good few chances and Lewis was forced to work. However, agree too many long balls. Defence needs looked at conceding too many soft goals. A lot of work needed, but we do have good players, let’s play to their strengths

Got an email from SMISA to say their nominated new Director is Alex White. I'm sure he is a good guy, even though he did use words in his personal statement like "perturbations" which I had to look up the meaning of. However, sadly, I won't be endorsing Mr White's appointment, due to the selection process not being democratic. I hope others will take a similar stance.

  35. Pay the fine. Move on. Back the Chairman, and don’t bend over to the demands of the Old Firm scum and faux outrage. We can then get on with scrutinising the performance of our Chairman’s effectiveness with SMFC matters - business operations, finances, communication and results on the pitch - this is what should matter most rather than this storm in a tea cup.

  36. You are well of the mark. To put your mind at rest, not that I have to explain, but I do object to you questioning my passion for St Mirren. Lets just say my support goes back to the days of Walker, Lapsley etc., (In case you are to young that was 1957) And continues to this day. I have no thoughts on your speculation (since you have not provided proof) on Kibble actions. Me, an employee of Kibble is a joke. The closest connection I have or had to Kibble was walking (or sometimes running) 4 times past their front door on the Greenock Road on a Saturday to and from the Racecourse to play football. Neither do I have any connection with Smisa. Never been a member, so no nothing about their arrangements for representatives to the Board. I am not outraged (past that), your words, but I do expect the Chairman of an Institution that I have been a member of for many years to represent me in a professional manner. Nearly forgot. Not me that leaked the tweet since I not on it. ( To easy to cause problems!) Please don't loose the point, It has nothing to do with the "joke" THAT IS NOT THE BIG PICTURE but his lack of thought of the consequence is. From my experience, Companies that I have been employed by have standards that their employees or their representatives are expected to abide by or suffer the consequences. (Failure normally led to a sacking) If our "man" has the best interest of OUR St Mirren at heart he shall do the right thing and resign before his disciplinary meeting later to-day and not drag the club down any further.

  40. In fairness, there’s arguably been a lot of unprofessionalism from club/board over recent months - in terms of business operations, decision making and mistakes of the football club - but most/all of it has been given a pass, without even an apology. Much if it put down to teething problems, transition, etc. Here, we have an example of someone new simply saying something stupid. He has apologised but now there’s apparently no leeway or not understanding for mistakes? Just seems a bit strange if you ask me.
