    Welcome Scott Tanser

This is the result of being safe last season and reaching two semi finals. The cash that brought in and the fact it's raised our profile has, IMO, made these signings possible. Anybody who think last season wasn't a success should possibly have a wee lie down.

    Coronavirus

Total Bollocks in my opinion and you of course are entitled to yours. We as part of a civilised society do have a moral obligation to protect ourselves and others in society. TB was eradicated in the UK due to vaccination as well as polio, you only get that eradication when enough people in society become immune via surviving disease or vaccination, vaccination being the obvious and more palatable method. If someone has a genuine reason not to get the vaccine and I mean medical reason not religious or stupidity reasons then fully agree they of course should not but they are the very people being protected by the rest of us taking the vaccine. Too much bullshit is posted on social media nowadays and is too easily spread and sections of the f**kwit population seem to believe the bullshit contained therein. If we are individuals that dont give a toss about others then you are right no moral reason and to argue against it would be sanctimonious but if we are a society then that comes or should come with obligations to the weaker in society. If you believe this is a childish nonsense then that says more about you than it does about others. SS

    Hello.........Hello..........

You are 100% correct. It’s fcuking disgraceful that both teams supporters have breached UEFA regulations and the clubs has been fined for their behaviour yet nothing is done for their repeated behaviour up and down the country every week. We have all experienced issues at Ibrox or Parkhead where sectarian abuse, coins, pies, etc are hurled at us yet the police and stewards do nothing. If you ever ask the police what they are going to do the response is “If you don’t like it then leave - if you carry on complaining I’ll make you leave so sit down and shut up!” We have all seen worse incidents at Love Street and Greenhill Road over decades. You regularly see them before games drinking and urinating in the street, before entering the ground to sing songs with no place in society and behave with impunity by breaking the laws. The police never intervene. The directive from the police match commander is “get them into the ground and out again with the minimum of fuss.” I know that because at numerous club AGMs when I have asked the question why the police take no action on illegal behaviour that was the feedback given by Stewart Gilmour. For a number of years those two Glasgow clubs provided their own stewards for matches at our ground. I’m not sure whether that still happens but I will ask the question of our SLO. Yet we have all seen the complete reverse attitude by the police and stewards when dealing with fans of Motherwell, Ross County, Inverness as examples. I asked at the recent SMiSA AGM “will there be a members vote on the issue of closing our family stand to our fans during games against the two arse cheeks when we take over the club?” The response I was given was that this would be a Club Board decision and would likely be in favour of the financial argument of the bigot pound. I believe our club needs to make a stand. Be the first in the country to stand up and be counted. If we can reduce their numbers, get the police to actually handle the loutish behaviour in the ground and use the expensive CCTV facilities that we have to prosecute then we may see other clubs do the same. It’s time for direct action. Nothing will ever change unless we do something positive. I’m willing to take these concerns to our club via the official process. I also plan to write to our local MSPs. I would also like to have a meeting with the police match commander, the chief executive, our MSPs and our SLOs. We may not change the BoDs view on the family stand, but if we can ensure that the police and stewards carry out the role that legally they are there to enforce them progress will be made. The police and stewards are paid to do the same job whether that is Celtic or The Rangers, Brechin City or Motherwell. If people think it would be worth it I could also write to other non OF clubs SLO’s. I’m going to change my username to Che Guevara. How do I do that? I’d be keen to receive feedback (a like on the post is sufficient) on what I’ve written, and whether there is anything that needs to change or be added. Thanks.

Not fussed with this in the slightest , yes he had pace but what’s the use of pace if you constantly run into cul de sacs or can’t cross. ? we can and will improve on Connolly fairly easily .

I wonder if thread demolishing like this is one of the reasons fewer and fewer people bother with this forum these days? I’ve signed back up with P&B because I’m scunnered with the lack of debate and humour and the endless point scoring drivel on here. I know I’ll not be missed but a lot of interesting posters have given up before me. Over to you Bazil for the inevitable last word.

Whose judgement to trust, whose judgement to trust... The managers selecting a lad who has been deemed good enough to be called up for Scotland at every level so far outwith senior vs the opinion of someone who can't even spell the player in question's name that he's passing judgement on. Aye, it's quite a quandary right enough. 🤔🙈

    Ethan Erhahon

I think we need to consider that he is still very young. Physically he needs further work in the gym and on the training pitch. He has been getting game time experience in the last two seasons that will stand him in good stead. There are not many young players in the top league with more games under there belt at age 19/20. I think he would develop faster if he had a more experienced player alongside him in midfield. I believe he has proved a more consistent performer than McAllister or Magennis at the same age. Neither of those two players have set the heather alight during the last season. I have no doubt that Ethan has played more games this last season than those two combined. Magennis has managed 4 starts since joining Hibs. He was permanently injured this season for Saints. McAllister has hardly managed to start regularly never mind finish 90minutes. Jim Goodwin obviously trusts Ethan and it shows that he was prepared to let both his captains this season leave the club in Magennis and Foley. Let’s cut the young lad some slack. He’s still very young and inexperienced. This last season will have given him immense confidence to kick on. Not many St Mirren midfielders have experienced playing in two cup semi finals at age 19/20. He deserves his call up. Unless someone can point me in the direction of another defensive Scottish midfielder at his age group.

I wonder if McGrath getting selected by Ireland might convince Doyle Hayes to sign a contract with us again. I also wouldn’t be surprised to see McGrath sign a new deal on improved terms so we make a decent bit of coin when we sell him, heard he is very happy at the club.

I said on here after his first game , that Connolly clearly had pace but that was it , he was a headless chicken. Sure he had his moments , but they were few and far between. If we bring someone in who can provide some decent crosses , then that will be an instant improvement !

Bit of a weird take. They have the last say as they are the group that ponied up for the majority of shares in the club. They aren't representing 1,100 supporters by way of a closed shop, it could just as easily be 3,000 or 4,000 supporters if the membership uptake was at that level. Supporters one and all have an equal chance to have their views represented by joining SMiSA. They put the vote out to their 1,100 members and like it or not, that was the fairest way to do it. Would you have rather it was a public vote and you'd have had Hearts, Morton etc supporters skewing the vote to pick something pish? At least you know everyone voting on the kits was 100% a supporter.

Tait is currently a better defender than Naismith ever was or ever will be. I simply cannot believe that some folk want to replace Tait never mind with Jason Naismith. I never get the obsession with bringing back former players at the best of times but Naismith just isn't very good. Never looked anything but the level of the other RC defenders any time we played them. We need to show more ambition. If we want to replace a player it has to be with an upgrade. In the case of Tait imo that would be very difficult in our wage structure.

Big Jon had limited ability as a striker but always gave 100%. We'll always remember his first goal, the overhead kick, and the goal v Hearts in the last game before lockdown, and what about that fans' chant? Brilliant! When interviewed, he always spoke quietly and sensibly. The big man goes with our thanks and best wishes.

He's played for two of the top 4 clubs in Scotland at the time in Motherwell and Aberdeen and couldn't hit a coo in the arse with a banjo at either. Big Mouth Yank...........

You only need to take a look at Dundee’s accounts for the last few years to see how much of a financial mess they are in. They have already had two administrations. Without Nelms at the helm they would be facing a hat trick. This is taken from their last set of accounts - remember this is pre pandemic. “The accounts for the year ending 31st May 2019 have been approved and signed by the Directors. Quite clearly, 2018/19 was a frustrating and disappointing season with the club being relegated from the SPFL Premiership. A loss for the year had been forecast but the actual loss of £1,825,669 was significantly higher than the previous year’s loss (£425,748).” Source - https://dundeefc.co.uk/news/club-statement-accounts-2/ Previous accounts don’t make good reading either - https://dundeefc.co.uk/club/accounts/ Their fans don’t believe there is an issue with this level of debt. Dundee don’t even own Dens Park. That is owned by a United board member John Bennett. I don’t think United are much better off financially. I wish our governing bodies took a tighter control against clubs that are gaining an unfair sporting advantage by spending way more than their income over other clubs to gain promotion or higher league positions. Have we learned no lessons from Motherwell, Livingston (twice), Dundee (twice), Rangers (liquidated) and Gretna.

So far under Jamie Langfields coaching we have done pretty well in the goalkeeping stakes. There is no doubt in my mind that our last three primary goalkeepers Samson, Hladky, Alnwick have all benefitted from his coaching style. I’d imagine that Jamie is involved in the recruitment process as it's a specialised position.

    Coronavirus

I’d walk miles over hot coals to get mine. I only recently received my first vaccine and the nurse doing the jab said I should have been given it months ago given the length of time I’ve spent on life support. The number of people I know who are much younger with no similar medical conditions and have received 2 jabs already astounds me given they are not even front line workers. When my wife and I turned up for our first jabs in Renfrew most of my neighbours were there at the same time! Postcode lottery. It would appear that some people have jumped the queue by saying that they are unpaid carers, etc. I’m not against that if it is a genuine case, but I feel that some people are looking to exploit loopholes. All things being said. We have been Covid-19 free in our immediate family. Sadly I lost three good friends to this terrible disease. I know from bitter experience what it feels like to be fighting to breathe and being intubated to try and save my life. However even on life support, the oxygen saturation is only as good as your lungs. I had multiple organ failure and at one stage only had a third of one lung functioning. It’s a horrific way to die. I’m lucky in that I survived but with a brain injury and COPD. I had to learn how to walk, dress, shave, etc after life support. I can write, talk, see and hear. Others who catch this disease and survive won’t be so lucky and will have devastating consequences as a result which they and there families never recover from. The statistics on divorce after brain injury are bad. Brain injury charity Headway suggests that anywhere between 20% and 50% of marriages end in divorce following a severe head injury. That’s not to mention the cost of someone’s career, cost of ongoing care, drain on NHS resources and then someone having to claim from the DWP. I was insured for “Critical Illness cover”. Once we got me back to some kind of living we tried to claim. The insurance company turned me down as I had been put into a medically induced coma which was because I had multiple organ failure. The brain is the largest consumer of oxygen in the body at 20%. Once your oxygen saturation goes below a certain level your brain cells die. The brain needs a continuous supply of oxygen and without it can only survive for up to six minutes unless its supply is restored. I’m sorry for possibly repeating some of this from before, but I just want to highlight the impact of not getting a vaccine. Had I been given anti-virals by my GP I’d still be living a normal working life rather than posting on here. So you all have him to blame. If I ever see him again I think I might do serious damage!

His surname is Erhahon. Ethan has played over 60 times for St Mirren since he made his debut as a 16 year old. He has been capped at multiple age groups by Scotland and is tipped to become the next St Mirren academy graduate to gain a full international cap following in the footsteps of McLean, McGinn and Morgan. He has only just turned 20. Who would you suggest we replace him with? Surely with your scouting prowess you could be using your skills and experience to help source excellent talent for Saints. You still can’t name one individual player you have sourced. 😂
