Great to see Flynn even running in a saints jersey again. For me his performance was irrelevant but as usual he was great. I have a feeling he could be very important for the remainder of the season.

First start in almost a year... 85th minute... Flynn runs half the length of the pitch to hand Dennis number 5. [emoji122][emoji122][emoji122]

Exactly , Flynn strolled it and could have made all the difference on Sunday in the middle of the park !

Maybe we should pick the team every week??

Thought young Ethan was immense tonight. Covered every blade of grass, and not afraid to put himself about.

FFS can we not just enjoy tonight without people moaning about Sunday? We hardly ever see wins like this against top opposition. Let's just enjoy it. Party time!!

Well deserved. They are honking but we've been the better side by some way. Doesn't make up for Sunday but can't have asked for any more form the manager and players.

Yup. Flynn and Durmus in place of Cammy & Mason.... I think the game would have been very different. what bothers me is how everyone called this before the game yet our managers opened for the opposite....
  15. 4 points
MOM was Durmus. Defending from the front and a constant danger. Ethan played well but no where near Durmus.

Outstanding overall team performance good use of subs obviously a few players now leaving and a few coming in COYS
  17. 4 points
That team selection proved how much of a mess Sunday's was. Anyway, let's move on. So many good performances tonight but amongst all the obvious stars, I'd like to mention this one who actually played well on Sunday and tonight and that was Fraser. I think he's improving steadily.
  18. 4 points
That's some response. Goody had to change it and change it he did. Great performances from Durmus and Flynn especially and a great wee shift from Connolly when he came on but to me the MOTM was Ethan Erharon. A magnificent performance probably helped by Flynn having a stormer in there too. McGrath is some pen taker too. All in all a fantastic nights work.

Great goal puts icing on the cake. Disciplined and entertaining performance everyone played their part. What a difference from Sunday and the last month in the league. More of this please

Brilliant run and finish from Connolly. Durmus off after a good shift. McAllister on.

Completely lost interest in St Mirren right now the lack of not being able to attend played a part in the apathy I have felt for alot of this season along with having only 3 good performances in 30 matches but Sundays shambles was a right f###ing kick in the balls. According to the minority on various St Mirren fans platforms league is much more important as is a push for top 6 I on the other hand really couldn't care less where we finish but in my eyes to have a chance of another national cup final was much more important doesn't happen very often (yes it would have been 3 in 11 years) but it was 1 in 38 years before that. If St Johnstone win this trophy they will have won Scottish and League cup within 5 years of each other plus regular top 6 finishes, Livingston will have won 2 league cups in 17 years plus more than 1 top 6 finish ask their fans what's more important finishing top 6 or celebrating winning a national cup final. Goodwin when under pressure earlier in season after good start reverted to his scared tactics that brought us 7 defeats in a row he reverted back to same tactics Sunday now with 9 games in 30 days guaranteed the guy who never bottled anything as a player will revert to the scare tactics to scrape draws or victories wherever he can.

He is a real talent and getting better after some poorer recent performances. He did have a great chance to shoot after strolling through, but turned and put the ball out wide. There was another instance or two where his control let him down and as always he goes backwards or sideways too much - BUT he's living the dream and should only get better. Notable the inclusion of Flynn along with him and McGrath and he looked much more assured all round !

That will invite them on to us and have us defending too deep with a defensive mindset. Defend from.the front and give them.somrthing to worry about.

St Mirren FC Ltd AGM 2020

At the risk of actually getting the forum back on topic, was there any mention at the AGM about the current finances given Covid. There was talk of the 250K investment. it was interesting to see the usual "over spenders" like Kilmarnock and Dundee United blaming the Gov for all their financial woes and asking for money. Celtic having their jolly to Dubai then immediately drop their Academy team. I recall hearing somebody saying at the start of Covid that it would not be the smaller teams that would go to the wall. These part time guys run within tight budgets and are well supported in their communities. I remember Stuart Gilmour being pilloried for saying there are too many full time teams in places that simply cannot sustain them financially or spending well beyond their means in an effort to be a "big" team. We all may moan about the Saints not spending enough on players, but yet again the governance of the club appears sound. I feel it even goes back to the previous team under Stuart. Understanding what is happening around them and keeping within budget is key to survival. Mid table and still being in business might be the best gift Gordon can give the buy out in the summer. Hopefully I have not spoke too soon and we are in a position to survive.

What about Foley just sitting in front of back four just spreading ball about and stopping and setting up play in a Tommy Turner role??
  49. 3 points
A bit harsh on Foley, imo, a couple of not so good performances and we begin throwing the age thing at him. From memory did he not cover the most ground last year in most games? Just checked and his last game for us was beating Aberdeen in the cup back on 28/11/20.. not played a minute since. You can only assume there are some issues behind the scenes, or has been hit hard by the virus. (If he had it) As for your point on Mason, we would probably be better just starting with 10!
