Not fussed with this in the slightest , yes he had pace but what’s the use of pace if you constantly run into cul de sacs or can’t cross. ? we can and will improve on Connolly fairly easily .

I said on here after his first game , that Connolly clearly had pace but that was it , he was a headless chicken. Sure he had his moments , but they were few and far between. If we bring someone in who can provide some decent crosses , then that will be an instant improvement !

Maybe, I'm in the minority, but I couldn't give a shit about rewards. I bought a season ticket to help support the club through difficult financial times. The club has thanked us several times for the financial support we've provided throughout the year. More than enough for me. I had a good laugh at the dummy out of the pram highlighted statement. Brilliant? I think not.

Cobblers! Not at all fussed Dylan has moved on. Don’t think he was consistent enough. Would rather see talent like Jay Henderson start or another of the promising youth players. Same goes for JDH. If they don’t want to sign get them moved on.

Not taking it the wrong way at all... Good to have adult debates and discussions on here. If in general, ST sales were non seat specific, I'd just turn up early and sit in the general area I've come to prefer, around people I've come to know well. There might be the odd occasion I'd have to sit elsewhere... I'd accept that as a concession for a more flexible system that allows growth. On a different week, I could bring a friend and be sat next to them, whereas now that is impossible. Who knows... One week someone might keep me a seat as they enjoy my witty banter and repartee! [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23] What I am doing is accepting the reality of the current situation and system and trying to work within it. The system is what it is. This isn't the appropriate time for me to be stirring it up... I simply want to support the club and keep my options open moving forward.

Another own goal by St Mirren and kick in the teeth to the fans who dug deep last year to pay for single and multiple season tickets. These fans loyalty has not been reward or acknowledged by the club. The club ran a campaign to be in that number then proceeded to sell TV games cheaper than the season ticket. After the club had the fans money they made no attempt to engage or reward these loyal fans. Even made them pay again for cup games. Now to be teased to get a new season ticket with no new incentive other than your chance to be possibly put in a ballot for 1 of 500 does not inspire me to rush out and buy my ticket. 1 of 500 from a club that has a habit of having a rather incestuous approach to handing out the clubs wares. Tip to SMFC treat your fans as customers and give them the respect that they are due especially when you have your hands out asking for money

Surprised at the comments on here that him leaving is a worry. I was more often than not, unimpressed by him. In fact I'm pretty pleased that wages are being freed up to hopefully bring in better as his replacement. While we're at it, we should be whipping that JDH offer off the table. I can understand that we were perhaps asked to wait until the end of the season for him to make a decision but we're long since into the 'are they taking the f**king piss?' category. He's not half as good nor half as in demand as his agent wishes he was. If he wants a sideways step to a financially f**ked team being run by a junior manager such as Dundee Utd then that's his prerogative but it's clear he or his agent don't want him to be here, so lets not be hanging about for a guy who flattered to deceive for the last 4 months.

Disappointing, not a lot in it, apart from 2 goals. Played ok at times, a wee bit of luck and one goal could have changed the dynamics. Ach, it is what it is, forces our hand against England TBH. Roll on Friday night.

Used to love the old Pannini books. Probably brought saints to my attention for the 1st time. I had no idea where they played, which town even. Then when i caught sight of those magnificent Love St floodlights on my 1st ever visit north of the border and someone told me St Mirren played there, my mind thought of those books straight away. Until then they'd always just been that mysterious team in black and white at the back of my sticker book. The OF got a double page while us provincial nobodies had to make do with one page 🙂

Raring to go for Monday. I will be watching with 12 or so Czech pals/colleagues, who are all well informed by me that we are going to do them. I'll probably have to lay-low for a while if we lose. The Czechs have a bit of a ropey defence just now, which they seem to be blaming on the Kudela ban. Strange considering he is a 34yo with 9 caps. As far as their top players are concerned, that would be Soucek and Coufal from West Ham Kral from S. Moscow, Schick from Leverkusen, Darida from Hertha Berlin. Not bad level of player, but when you compare them to our top guys (McTominay, Tierney, Robertson, Adams, Gilmour, McGinn) , I d say ours are better players, definitely playing for bigger clubs. There is no doubt the Czechs are a tidy team, but I really think we'll win this.

Just been speaking to a friend who provides first aid training and looks after the village defibrillator he said the percentages of surviving such an incident IIRC are 4% no CPR no defibrillator 34% with CPR no defibrillator 76% with CPR and defibrillator The average age of a heart attack is 34 in this country. Being able to perform CPR is a skill we should all learn at school and in the workplace. It’s not a hard skill to learn, but can make a massive difference to saving someone’s life. If you choose to wait for the professionals to arrive it may be too late.
  43. 3 points
I really hope Christian Eriksen makes a full recovery. Football certainly takes a back seat. IMHO the general public need better education on CPR and the use of defibrillators as this is a common problem within our communities every day. In our village we have introduced equipment across a few locations along with free education on how to deploy CPR and use defibrillators, but only a handful of people turned up. I imagine that elite footballers go through rigorous testing these days for heart defects, so if someone like Christian Eriksen at 29 can collapse like that with no warning it’s a wake up call to us all.

Disgraceful that the team should have to go against their own beliefs on how to demonstrate their own personal hatred of racism and although I have my own views on “taking the knee”, I think under the circumstances this is the correct decision. ETA - As long as we start booting the Nigel bassas up in the air as soon as the whistle blows 🤣
  48. 3 points
Agreed. When we first qualified I was very much of the “please God just don’t let us get humiliated” opinion. However, I am much more confident now. I think our top players appear to be on excellent form, our fair to middling players seem to be at the top of their game and I’m particularly pleased with the injection of youth into the squad as a potential way to change things up if required.

Not heard much from @Prague Buddie, thought he'd have been getting ready to start with a victory for the Czechs on Monday? I don't want to tempt fate too much but I'm feeling quite confident we can progress from this group. Clarke, and I know he's not everybody's cup of tea, has instilled a self belief that's been missing for many years and I think that's a massive plus for us. We've also scored 10 goals in the last 5 games so we're not firing blanks as much as people think.
