St Mirren FC Ltd AGM 2020

Some rough notes I composed between songs tonight. 111 participants. Meeting recorded for other shareholders. GLS opened the meeting. Discussed questions relating to the accounts. 1. Police Scotland - St Mirren approached the Police to seek advice on an internal matter. PS spoke to previous BoD for history. Matter deemed closed. No further details due to confidentiality. 2. Investment in accounts re £250,000 - money was doing nothing in bank at the time due to low interest rate. . Was invested through Alan Wardrop. Lost money during market crash. Currently sits at £254,000 3. SMTV attendance - ST range from 1,800 to 3,000 ; PPV from 300 to 8000 match dependent 4. Financial Health - Tough times. Club looking to keep loss this season to a minimum. Runs in Cups key. 5. Fill in Corners - Not at this point in time 6. HMRC - processes and systems improved. No feedback to press issued as statement said what was required. Case closed 7. GLS Club Updates - GLS reduced input in running club as a result of help from Kibble. The club have been issuing short and regular updates instead. 8. Club Shop ref. concern about Kibble taking over - all avenues being looked at for future revenue. 9. Question about Kibble involvement - Fitzy was keen to close this issue down. We are seen as one organisation now. Kibble have brought the following benefits to the club: - Graphic Design and Signage - I believe a new sign announcing SMISA Stadium has gone up - Marketing improvements - One Town - One Team; Be in that number around town - IT Support - Training Centre and Stadium Maintenance and Refurbishment - All catering for staff and players - Matchday Hospitality - HR - Multiple Sponsorships in addition to shareholding - No threat to existing staff 10. Question on Off Field revenue - Jim Gillespie spoke about the club’s ambition to be the top 6 commercial football club in Scotland. We aim to have the best Youth Academy. At present the priority is working through a COVID-19 strategy to ensure that we still have a club. Plan is to augment staffing moving forward and sweat the stadium assets especially on non-match days. 11. Question ref Goalkeeper & COVID - St Mirren were given 24hours to resolve the situation and they had to get a player that had been tested. 12. Kyle Magennis - offered a contract to become highest player in squad. Once Jack Ross took over at Hibs, KM requested a move. KM felt it was a life changing move. Club felt they could not stand in his way. 13. Government Loans - Not required this season - cash flow strong. However it would be foolish not to investigate the process as we don’t know what the future holds. 14. Question on Kibble benefits - great resources and professionalism including a dedicated General Manager. Jim Gillespie’s friendship with Billy Bowie helped with the Brophy deal. 15. Scouting system - Jim Goodwin uses contacts, scouts and tools that SPFL provide plus the investment St Mirren have made. As a result of Brexit it has become a very challenging market. Points basis introduced for European market based on a large number of factors. Richer clubs won’t have same issues as they operate in a different market. No issue regarding RoI according to JG. 16. International Subscribers vs UK Season Ticket holders - as it stands international subscribers get to see all games - home and away for £150. Pricing needs to be looked at. 17. SMTV Matchday Sponsor - Club will look at ways to improve SMTV revenue 18. Question on Stadium Use as Car Boot venue on non Matchday weekends - will be looked at. 19. Question on Flu Clinic revenue - good sum of money, but won’t disclose. Club offered stadium for COVID-19 vaccine, but decision to be made by Health Board ========= MINUTES AND FINANCIAL PART APPROVED ====== Questions on Playing Side 1. Dressing Rooms & COVID - we have two of the largest in Scottish football so no issue regarding protocols. 2. Academy Update - some players have left as club felt they would not make first team. Club always looks to provide a pathway for those who leave. Academy games restricted due to COVID, but unlike some clubs (Hibs) St Mirren have kept the Academy going throughout the pandemic. Club have put some players out on load to gain experience, but there is limited football being played. High hopes for a number of players including Lewis Jamieson (Striker), Kieran Offord (Striker) and Dylan Reid. It is hoped that Dylan when he turns 16 this season will make his 1st team debut if all goes well. 3. Kevin Nisbett - Club made an offer to Dunfermline but were priced out by HIbs on fee and wages 4. Usual questions on Set Pieces - lots of work on training ground. Jim Goodwin said that the stats show that we produce enough chances in a game, however we lacked a 15-20 goalscorer - hence the reason we brought in Brophy. 5. Injury Update provided. No details to save the press and opposition from knowing. 6. Transfer Activity - we are always looking at improving the squad. Cards close to chest for obvious reasons. Jim Goodwin finished up by saying this situation has been difficult for everyone at the club as a result of the protocols. He and the players are missing the fans - especially at the cup games against Aberdeen and The Rangers - as they would have liked to have enjoyed the success with the fans. JG sees progress on and off the pitch however. He believes the quality of the squad he has now to what he inherited is like night and day. Jim congratulates the Board on not cutting the wages of the players and staff unlike many other clubs. This has kept morale high and should not be underestimated. Jim says we have only lost 3 of the last 17 and we are 4 points better off than last season, but wants to make improvements. He has received excellent support from General Manager and new directors from Kibble. End of meeting.

Cannae believe we’re all shitin it from Livi. A team we’ve beaten twice already this season are being made out to be Real Madrid. Is this what it’s come to? Bring them f**kin on I say.

I know a number of St Mirren fans who put the club as a major priority in their life. To some it’s as important to them as their family and jobs. Some might disagree with that, but it’s a major part of their lives and they are happy for it. Many volunteer their services to help the club through a variety of means. Either helping the club directly or running supporters buses, clubs or SMiSA. These activities are a huge time commitment and are often unseen. I personally don’t see anything wrong with having such an interest and investment in your local club and community activities. I’d rather sit beside those supporters at games than some other so called “fans” that only watch on TV.

Id like to see some more challenging for places at centre back … Stuart Findlay in from Killie who is in his last few months of his contract there. Good solid centre back with experience in this league I feel guys like Shaughnessy need to be challenged for their place if we are to get the best out of him.

It's not competitive. Are Killie fans also in the process of "buying" their club? I'm not happy with the idea of collecting money to give to the wankers that run Scottish fitba.

In fairness we don’t know exactly what they invested in. There are plenty of managed fund type investments which usually offer steady if unspectacular yields and more importantly in the context of what we’re talking about, offer pretty much instant access to the funds. No one could’ve predicted COVID. Assuming they have invested in a fairly vanilla investment product, I’d have backed their decision to do so at the time.

The difference is that Stuart often made good points, regularly lost in his obstinacy. I could still actually reason with him though... Something you have proven to be incapable of. You are like Stuart, without the intelligence, knowledge or nice side! [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji12]

It’s on a topic like this that Stuart Dickson would have been in his element. He would have been using it as a stick to beat St Mirren and no doubt Stewart Gilmour. And then when the truth came out he would still be taking the stance that St Mirren operate dodgy financial practices. Be thankful this topic is only 6 pages long.

    Global Fascist State

Trump being kicked off FB etc is NOT censorship. Nobody is stopping him from saying whatever he wants, he is just being prevented from using SOMEONE ELSE'S platform to do it. If he had borrowed my loudhailer and then I took it off him because he broke the conditions he agreed to when he borrowed it, that doesn't prevent him from continuing to say what he wants, it only prevents him from doing so through MY loudhailer. Therefore, it's not censorship. Edit: As for your choice of YouTuber, a conspiracy theorist who promotes alternative medicine - good choice. As an aside, do you know how we know that "alternative medicine" doesn't work? Because, if it did, it would just be called "medicine".

It would be wrong to over react after today. The performance was extremely poor and very simelar to the loss in Perth at the end of August. I think it’s clear that whilst Erwin might be good in the box he does not have the mobility that is required to lead the line effectively. Obika is a much more difficult opponent and his fast feet and trickery always have defenders on their toes. What I don’t understand is that today our main goal scorer was left on the bench and afforded a mere six minutes of play. It’s unbelievable that Jim felt he didn’t need to add some movement to the attack and bring on someone who at times is capable of holding the ball up. Granted he isn’t brilliant at it but he wins fouls and he can do this role. Our midfield too is another area that we need to look at. McGrath apart the rest seem quite content to pass the pass side ways and back the way whilst never really hurting the opposition. We were passive in both our previous outings at Kilmarnock and last week at home to Motherwell. Doyle Hayes is a class operator but he needs to have people willing to run and take us up the park. Too often lately our play has been predictable and far too slow. we haven’t been able to get Connolly on the ball and isolate the full back that will allow him the opportunity to create for us. Get him in behind like he did in the cup win against Rangers. Durmus too can offer width and whilst he is hot and cold he does deliver good balls at times and with Brophy in the box I’d think he will be recalled. The point being though that we don’t seem to want to play offensive at times and today we played a side that hadn’t won in 10 matches yet they’re unlikely to get an easier game all season. So where are we now? There is no doubt that on our day we are competing in most games. The defensive side has been good and our goalie is having a great season. We do have players who can create but too often the final ball is poor or the team is set up far too cautiously. If we look at next week’s opponents Livingston have went on a tremendous run since they lost to us on November 21st. They are a team that are t bogged down with history . They don’t go into games worrying about the opposition in the way that we do. I don’t know about you but I have been feeling nervous in each of our previous three games because I haven’t seen a team that’s aggressive or in the oppositions faces - I’ve seen a team standing off and looking devoid of the creative spark that they held for a few weeks prior to Christmas . Livingston just go at teams they have no fear they have players that are at it every single week and a side that has went from being relegation candidates to top five in the blink of an eye. They are enjoying a run of form that somehow we can only dream of. These other teams seem able to go on winning runs or have seasons when they are consistently winning games against teams of a similar stature. We haven’t did this for many years and I can’t remember us ever having brilliant runs since we played in the newly formed SPL / SPFL premiership. The manager has been backed in the market and now he needs to find a way of challenging those other teams all battling to break free from the almost inevitable relegation fight. A few weeks ago it looked like we might finally have that consistency but it’s not on the same level as what Livingston have achieved. Theyll be favourites alright next week and quite rightly so. Can Jim put out a team capable of being as aggressive and offensive as they will. Can we match them and the belief they will have ? I hope so and it would be foolish to rule us out but what is clear is that we will need to be at our very best to make the final. How often do you play in a semi final ? Not often and we need to make sure it doesn’t pass us bye this time. COYS

Really do believe we can do this today. Also I got 20/1 with William Hill for McCarthy to score anytime which I thought wasn’t too shabby. So my prediction 3-1 Saints with McCarthy sealing it (of course). COYS!!

Such spoil sports Don't they realise they are just spoiling the fun of all our conspiracy theorists on here who are desperate to talk about fallouts between Kibble, SMISA and the club, Kibble finding grave financial errors in the books, possible financial irregularities that could scupper the buyout. As the Government jettisoned all attempt to fund the health service and prepared it for selling off to Private companies and friends at home and abroad, that UK plan was abandoned, jettisoned, thrown overboard - not by a middle class left but by yet another right-wing fascist venal Tory government. It's a shame to see you are no longer inhabiting the same planet as sensible people.
