The duo joined the struggling Buddies in October 2016, ultimately securing their Scottish Championship status.
Ross' team also reached the Challenge Cup final, losing to Dundee United, and the Scottish Cup last eight, where they lost to eventual winners Celtic.
"We are delighted to get these deals completed," St Mirren chief executive Tony Fitzpatrick said.
"Jack and James are two highly thought of young coaches and have done a tremendous job since coming in last season. The club has lacked a bit of stability over the last few years so it's great to get these contracts agreed. We are really excited to see what happens in the season ahead."

The guy is on holiday with his young family, FFS.
He works in a job that will often take him away from his family at weekends and evenings. He will be cherishing this time away from the rigours of a post that he has thrown himself into with no small level of commitment.
Give the guy a break. Yes, it would be good to hear from him, but that's no reason to beat him with a stick over it.

I am perhaps biased because I've been working on this with the club, but I think this is an important project.
Firstly this is primarily the vehicle for the club communicating with the fans. There will be a couple of immediate improvements in this area including regular updates from the Chairman on what's been happening in and around the club and a suggestion wall where fans can post and vote on ideas etc....
Secondly, and this won't be covered in this initial phase, the club is looking to increase revenue by virtue of making it easier to spend money on club services by doing a lot more business online. More revenue means more for the playing budget at the end of the day.
A lot of work has gone into this from a lot of different areas right back to a study done on the current official website by UWS students a year or so ago.
Hopefully the first phase will be well received but there's lots more to come on this.

One thing is a certainty - yesterday's events will surely have hammered the final nail into the coffin of bevvy ever being allowed back into Scottish grounds.

I doubt there are many St.Mirren fans amongst the 1st team squad.
What they do in their spare time is entirely up to them as far as I'm concerned.
