I disagree mate we had 13 attempts at goal in the first half. 5 on target.
But it doesn’t really matter. Ultimately we were pish.

I suppose it depends on what level you're willing to accept. Yes we were the better team in 1st half but instead of thinking this is great we've got 65% possession, what I could see was our weakness of not being able to create a goal being exposed even more glaringly because Morton were happy to let us have the ball and we just looked like a team of defensive minded big players who are desperate for a player with a bit of spark and creativity. The commentators even said it.

What I saw was worrying when you put it into context with the Premier League games we have coming up where the opposition will be far superior to Morton

I think you’re missing the point mate. The first half was almost perfect barring more goals. I appreciate we have to take the opposition into consideration, but we couldn’t really have asked for much more. We weren’t in any way defensive.

Then we had stupid substitutions and a clear tactical shift.  All we had to do was come out second half with more of the same.
If that’s what you mean by too defensive fair enough, but the first half was anything but.
Tonight was 100% Goodwin’s fault and if he’s got anything about him he’ll take it right on the chin..........or preferably walk.

We were defensive in the 1st half. We had 2 defensive midfielders in the middle of the park with nobody able to link up with Obika who was a loan striker against a 1st division team.

Yes we had all the ball because morton were sitting back. We didnt look like we knew how to handle having all that possession and turn it into goals.

We had Connolly, Erwin, Dennis, Macpherson, Mcgrath all on the bench. That was a cautious starting 11 to play against a poor 1st division team at home. We should be been all put attack with pace on the wings and 2 strikers.

Goodwin's 1st thought is always defence which is where the problem lies.

  3. Think of Danny Lennons team. Built on forward play. The defence was almost an after thought. (Teale, Hasselbaink, Thompson, Goncalves, McGowan, McLean, Mcginn they trip off the tongue) Even Jack Ross's team (Mallan, Morgan, Cammy Smith, Loy, Magennis, a wing back like Stelios)

Now look at this team. Solid players at the back but wheres it getting us, nowhere is the answer because our midfield is going side ways and our forwards are hopeless.

It's the above teams I want to get back to

  4. We are far too defensive. A team built on not losing with a sprinkle of hopeless forwards. Doesnt matter which players are on the pitch or what formation, we are just a bad team.

Connolly is the only player with pace and direct attitude yet he never gets a game. Gives you an idea of Goodwins defensive mind.

I got into football for the excitement attacking play can bring not to watch the equivalent of paint drying never mind the total lack of talent in that team

And it looks like nothing will change until the manager changes.........yet again

Like I said to Doakes on another thread - we can laugh at idiotic Americans all we like but you don't have to go far to find deranged conspiracy theory nutjobs and assorted cranks on our own forum. 🤣

So you just ignore those 3 FACTS and laugh at me for stating them?

  6. All Goodwin cares about are the 2 goals conceded. That tells you of the negative defensive outlook and priorities our manager seems to have.

His 1st thought should've been about our lack of creativity and failure to have 1 shot at goal as the home team in a cup quarter final!!

  7. Coronavirus was a world government set up. 3 suspicious "coincidences"

    1) Biggest chemical testing plant in China is in Wuhan.

    2) An american scientist did a test on the effects of a coronavirus pandemic 3 months before it happened.

    3) The Military Games (equivalent of the military olympics) were held in Wuhan a week before the virus outbreak. Convienent get together of the world powers?

  8. Just more of the same rubbish we're used to at home games. This team know how to zap the passion out of you with their dullness and lack of quality.

What's even more worrying is our manager comes out afterwards and says we were the better team etc etc. He should be saying hes not happy with having all the possession but no quality to create anything and we're not up to the standard he wants us to play at. Seems as if hes happy with borefests.

I sit at games and nobody else seems to be unhappy with the garbage we need to watch.

Been to the recent home Motherwell cup and league games, Hamilton, Hibs, Aberdeen league games all at home and all the same. Boring, no idea how to score, dropping points against poor teams. No wonder people stayed away tonight!

Not sure if that’s the one you mean. That song was my ring tone for many years after I watched the video for the first time.

That shows his 2 goals v st johnstone but it was the actual match highlights I was hoping to watch again. I'm sure he ran from the half way line past 3 or 4 players and nearly scored. The guy was unplayable

    FT 1-1

Yeah even game and draw a fair result. Quite good fun second half, wind and rain and tackles flying in. Good stuff. Nice goal from the Jak for our equaliser too, he looks a find.

4 draws in a row for us now. If nothing else we are certainly hard to beat. No reason we can’t get through the tie at Fir Park right enough, just might need extra time and penalties to do it. We also play there in the league next Saturday so we are going to have two games in a row in Motherwell within a few days of each other, might aswell move in.

Good fun, I was bored stiff all 2nd half as I have been at every st mirren match I've attended this season.

  12. Gus Macpherson stuff.

Was glaringly obvious morais up on his own was never gona work. Bizarre team to start any match nevermind against a team of big hard men. Then you think we're crying out for 2 up front and we just replace morais with another dumpling up on his own. Then the only reason we end up with 2 strikers on the pitch is cos the right back gets injured and we have a bench full of strikers
