Erskinebuddie got a reaction from shull in Best Ever Save By A St Mirren Goalkeeper
Kello 2 seasons ago up at Dingwall, one of the best bits of goal keeping ive seen, point blank reaction save and then when the ball broke to the unmarked Arquin, who looked like scoring a tap in at the opposite side of the goal, kello managed to get back on his feet and dive again to tip it round the post.... the fue hundred strong support up there sung his name for some time after that, along with choruses of' derek adams your a w**ker' wich got the match delayed for editing on alba:)

Erskinebuddie got a reaction from TopCat in Ross Caldwell Signs
its good to know that unlike his predecessor, Tommy has given this guy a good trial to see that he is worth a deal and considering the interview,it seems he has already fit in with the set up, the management seem to think he can play the way they want him to.
despite the "dull" nature of this transfer, i still prefer it to some of Dannys, where players considered good quality and experienced with the likes of Harkins and Grainger coming in without the lengthy trial period and due consideration only to find they cant fit with our style of play or are simly pure pish.
If caldwell turns out to be useless,so what? Id take a young (cheap) striker with decent potential, chipping in with a few goals a season anyday, especially over the more experienced ones we could afford that some on here are calling for, we might as well resign Lewis Guy.

Erskinebuddie reacted to div in Responses To Brian Caldwell Updates
I've started regular email updates from Brian which I have been tweeting out on the @bawarmy twitter feed. I thought I'd use this thread to keep the forum users updated with what's been said.
So here is today's update;
Ryan Stevenson
We did have talks with the player and made him an offer. Unfortunately he elected to sign for Partick Thistle.
Darren McGregor
Rangers were in touch a while back indicating they were going to speak wtih Darren. Club expects him to sign on at Ibrox shortly, think he is there for a medical today.
John McGinn
There have been no fresh bids from Sheffield Utd for the player.
Kenny McLean
Contract offer remains on the table, club are waiting to hear back from the players reps.
Season Tickets
We have sold 2150 so far which is ahead of this time last season. In total we had 2700 last season but there are plenty of new sign ups, especially in the family section so hopeful of breaking last seasons total.
General
Jim & Gary have been away on holiday, back now and meeting up with Tommy today for a progress update on player recruitment. There is a long list of targets and these are being pursued. The point was made that English players are all contracted until 30th June so there will not be much movement from South of the Border until July.
So there you go. I will post updates to this thread as and when I get them. Sure there isn't much above you didn't already know but at least you know 100% that it's accurate !

Erskinebuddie got a reaction from Luther G. Presley in Graham Carey
I understand both sets of views here but I think the point that Big Yards is trying to make is that we have been living with in our means since the new stadium was built and the dept was cleared, yet the quality and depth of the squad has gradually decreased since season 11/12, presumably to save money. why has this continued to happen with further reductions and continually going for the cheap option by promoting youngsters and cutting the coaching bill by promoting TM,JG and GT despite an increase in revenue through player sales etc.
We have already proved that we can live with in our means with a squad with decent depth and a handful of experienced players and quality youngsters in past seasons, so why must we leave Tommy to build a squad on pennies working with out of depth academy graduates, situations where we have only one player per position ie left back, and a solitary ageing striker.
I really Hope the BOD proves me wrong this season.

I heard that Darnell Fisher is out of contract at Celtic, only 20 and looked decent on his cameo stint earlier in the season.
sign him, play him right back, drop cheezy and put Naismith at center back ?

Erskinebuddie reacted to Wrong Planet in Reasons To Be Cheerful (Part 3)
With apologies to Ian Dury for blatant plagiarism of his lyric. Oh, and for those not interested in statistics please look away now,
this won't be of interest. Fair warning....
Putting the spotlight on the post split fixtures, and in order of the fixtures....
Hibs We have taken 4 points in total (1 win, 1 draw) from a possible 9
Partick We have taken 4 points in total (1 win, 1 draw) from a possible 9
Ross County We have taken 3 points in total (1 win) from a possible 9
Kilmarnock We have taken 4 points in total (1 win, 1 draw) from a possible 9
Hearts We have taken 4 points in total (1 win, 1 draw) from a possible 9
So, of our current 28 point league total, we have attained 19 points against our post-split opponents. That's 67.9% of our total points.
More importantly, we have attained 19 points from a possible 45 points against our post-split opponents. That's 42.2% of the points available. Not great, however, if we take the 42.2% and extrapolate against the 15 available from the post split games the statistics would suggest that we would be on target for 6.33 (6) points post split.
Granted, this is all wildly theoretical, but for those interested in statistics (like Bookmakers - this is what they do) what it does suggest is that tomorrow's game against Motherwell is massively critical. If we could get the 3 points added to the theoretical 6 post split it might just be enough.
We all know that form and stats can easily fall by the way side when backs are to the wall, but there it is for those interested in the numbers.
COYS, we need a big performance tomorrow. Please.

Erskinebuddie reacted to jimdickloyal in Speculation Thread
Ladies/Gents
My calls for a speculation section so far have been unanswered!
I think we need a special section for the questions such as
Who should we sign?
Who would you like us to sign?
What players are currently free and looking for a club and may do a job for St Mirren?
There IS a place for speculation, we ALL like to do it and thus far this forum does not really allow us to do it without comments (from people like me) such as "thats not a rumour".
So please speculate here (and if you believe in such a section then maybe the mods will see it too) and it may make the rumour mill slighty more credible!
I shall start
Goalkeeper...I would love us to go for Jamie Langfield
Defence......Keep Will Haining
Midfield.....Marcus Niculae now that he has been released?
Striker....Leigh Griffiths?

Erskinebuddie got a reaction from oscar in Tony Watt
Moving away from the garbage above, I think tony watt looks a great player but doesn't look settled at all , coming away with comments about learning more about football at ayr than from Neil lennon (probably true) as he is frustrated at failing on his current loan after all that Barcelona goal hype and seems alot like Robert snodgrass was at that age, however snodgrass worked hard and came through that spell and depending on if watt can do the same will determine what sort of player he turns out to be. I don't see us taking him on loan next season as celtic will want to ship out samaras, balde and the like and build for next seasons champions League and but also look for someone who can score consistently on the domestic scene and I see this as watts chance. This doesn't really deserve to be called a rumour as Danny is unlikely to move for a player he could have signed permanently before he went to celtic , due his bad party habits. Would be a great signing though if we could pull it off.

Erskinebuddie reacted to Sonny in Adam Campbell In January
The Press Release (ie its in the bag and no longer a rumour ) ....
St Mirren are in line to take Newcastle youngster Adam Campbell on loan come January 1, an agent working for both clubs claims.
Spencer Downey has already helped to arrange moves for Paul Dummet and Conor Newton to the Paisley club as part of an affiliation agreement with the Geordies and says England Under-19 cap Campbell could be next.
The 18-year-old - who turns 19 on New Year's Day - was close to agreeing a deal with the Buddies during the summer but moved to Carlisle on a short-term switch instead.
But now Downey says Saints boss Danny Lennon could finally get his man.
He said: "We're hoping to have that one tied up for January 1 and get Adam up there for the match with Kilmarnock the day after.
"Danny thinks he is fantastic. He's wanted Adam for a while and probably should have gone up there in August but it didn't work out that way.
"Newcastle value what St Mirren have done for Paul and Conor and believe sending Adam up there would be good for him.
"He's a live-wire striker and will bring so much to that team. Steven Thompson will love him. He has so much energy and is rapid. He has a good shot off of both feet and will score goals."
Campbell is highly rated by United manager Alan Pardew and made three Premier League appearances last season and another two in Europa League ties - but has yet to feature for Newcastle this term.
Meanwhile, Downey is also working on a deal that will see Newton's own loan stay extended until the end of the season.
The 22-year-old first joined Saints last January as he linked up with best friend Dummett - now back playing for the Magpies first-team.
The duo helped the Scottish Premiership side to the League Cup, with Newton scoring in the 3-2 win over Hearts in the final at Hampden.
St Mirren chief executive Brian Caldwell hopes to have the paperwork "concluded soon rather than later".
However, Downey - who represents the player - admits there is competition from clubs south of the border.
He said: "Because of how well Conor is doing right now he is attracting interest from clubs in the Championship.
"But he wants to stay where he is. Newcastle would like him to stay because he's progressing week in, week out.
"However, a lot of people are watching the SPL because it's a great breeding ground.
"But the question remains that with Conor doing so well, do we leave him where he is, or allow him to move on to a club in the Championship where he may have to settle in all over again?
"Both Danny Lennon and his assistant Tommy Craig are both clear when they say he is good enough for the Championship. He has good energy and skill."
