  1. Was 29 Palms not just a song by Robert Plant??? (No pun intended)
  2. Wow! That was weak - even by your standards.
  3. Aye, that's about the standard of reply I was expecting. Mind you, it is hard to be graceful in defeat.
  4. Bran Van 3000 (Drinking in LA) Sixpence None The Richer (Kiss Me) Ben Folds Five (Can't think of what they sang)
  5. Either that or you are one of these guys who just reads what he wants into a post. 35k is indeed pocket money in today's game - a game in which our pokey wee league is small to the point of being almost insignificant, when viewing the bigger picture. And there is a bigger picture. However, I am well aware that the same sum of money is a big deal to a club like ours and most other in our, "pokey wee league". My point though was that, in terms of bringing in fresh faces to the club, that kind of money is only going to get you players of Imrie's standard. We can't afford the quality of players we would all like to see at NSMP, so why are we bitching about it on here? At best, managers in Scotland have to speculate with their "pocket money" and hope for the best. Sadly, in Imrie's case, it didn't work out.
  6. You obviously know nothing of business development plans and long-term value strategies. You said, "Any money we get would be used to service debts and running costs", but that is not entirely true. Yes, we are a 'selling club', as are most these days, but if no portion of incoming transfer money is reinvested, then we eventually flat-line. Investing some of any money received, in a bid to achieve a top-six finish, is the only way ahead for a club like ours. You obiously also know nothing of me, so to label me a, "clown", on the basis of your interpetation of a discussion forum post, speaks volumes about you.
  7. Matchbox 20 The Temperance 7 1910 Fruitgum Company Edited to remove MC5. Had only read the first page and then noticed WDR had suggested them about 5 hours before me. I should have read them all first.
  8. Was he given the chance? Really? I'm not so sure. Same applies, but in a bigger way, to Graham Carey. I'd never have ditched Carey and felt he often got dropped after playing well. Too often a bit-part player to have any real chance of establishing himself.
  9. I'd say that if we start the season 15 points in front of a weak Hearts side, then we should expect to finish the season at least 25 points ahead of them. I'm hoping DL gets the new signings right and the final figure is actually a lot higher than that. I don't know if Shull's prediction of finishing second was tongue-in-cheek or not, but I think it is genuine possibility if the team have enough self-belief. I'll be searching out this post and quoting it at the end of the season when the miracle has actually happened.
  10. No, not intended as a rhetorical question, so you must have assumed the answer was obvious, I'm guessing?
  11. Which would you have back in Paisley given the choice? Higdon or Sutton?
  12. Thanks for taking the time to dissect my post and make so many succint counterpoints.
  13. If the wage bill will take I would be very happy to see him in the squad.
  14. From a very strong source in Arbroath, this is going ahead and only awaiting final confirmation.
  15. I don't know where all the hard feelings are coming from. I agree with the sentiment that, although he was nowhere near our best player, he was also far from the worst. I thought he made the difference when he came on against Killie at Ne'erday. He also won the penalty that day that Gowser scored from. We were never going to beat Cammy Bell any other way that day. I say good luck to him - wherever he goes. And as for £35,000 wasted???? Pocket money these days. There are plenty of fuds out there earning more than that every week for doing fcuk all. If anybody thinks we should not be speculating that kind of money on players the manager believes may have the potential to play at our level, then they shouldn't complain when we bring in players from the lower leagues for washers. You can't have it both ways.
  16. If he had signed, then it wouldn't be a rumour - would it?
  17. Sometimes the negativity on here astounds me. Other times I think people are just yanking chains to see who reacts. Which is the case here? You decide.
  18. It always seems to me that our fans expect miracle signings. When a new name is mentioned they are usually either deemed to be crap, or beyond our budget, by the hard to please. I'd say it is obvious that if people openly recognise our budget is small, then our expectations regarding who we can sign should reflect that. Me? I'd take anybody that can do a job for us - whether that be a M*rt*n player (Tidser), a rat faced bastard (Novo), an injury prone has-been (Gordon), a ned (Griffiths) or anybody else who fits the bill. For me, the jury is still out on DL, but I'd love this to be the season he takes us into the top 6 and proves a lot of us wrong. If he's going to do that, he is going to have to think carefully about who he brings in. I for one hope (and actually believe) that he will do that this season.
  19. My first post on here, so don't kill me. I'll be sad to see Carey go, but don't see the others as much of a loss. Carey never seemed to get many starts under Danny, so I'm not surprised by this - just disappointed.
