  1. Tony should not be going on holiday at such an important time. He should be going during the season. Clearly he cannot be sacked while taking an authorised holiday but incompetence is the stuff of disciplinary action This situation has been rumbling on for a while and should have been nipped in the bud right after the playoffs. If it meant Kearney going then so be it. Incompetent management. I'm not bothered that Kearney has gone. I am concerned about our ability to act sensibly now. We cant undo what is done but we can act to minimise damage. Not convinced we are up to the challenge. If nothing else this does show the need to have a competent CEO. I know the incumbent is a super guy with St. Mirren blood in his veins. That doesn't make a good CEO although some on here seem to think that's what's required. Let's waken up.
  2. I'm not bothered about Kearney going. He is an average manager. I thought he would resign after the play offs as he clearly wasn't fully committed. It's the timing that bugs me. Leaves us scampering around to put a team together. Yet another manager telling the fans how wonderful they are leaving us in the lurch. Remember Jack Ross. At least Stubbs shite as he was didn't kid on he was interested. We cannot mess around recruiting by considering applications. We need to appoint now. Probably McPherson if Goodwin is too difficult.
  3. Totally agree. Perhaps if he spent more time improving how the club functions eg ticketing system he might fulfil the role of a proper CEO. Being a CEO requires a lot of skills very few of which he appears to have. Frankly I'm fed up with him. I know he loves the club. So do I but I would be a crap CEO.
  4. Don't like saying it about one so young but I see absolutely nothing there. I was actually glad whenhe was suspended
  5. Totally agree. Hladky best keeper we have had in years. Lyons has done nothing in his time with us apart from last week's goal. He seems to be Orans golden boy so won't be dropped. Erahonmay eventually be good but he is a total non event at present. Think Cooke worth a run up front.
  6. Hopefully not next Saturday as I have something arranged because St. Mirren weren't playing. St. Mirren website still not saying game off. We are so amateur and lower league. Having a pint in Perth before heading back
  7. Agreed. Like Mark Yardley who I thought at the time was a great player all his best work was done outwith the top league and didn't really shine when in the top league. Jim Goodwin did shine in the top league and for that reason was in my opinion a better player than Yardley or Murray. Same applies to Stephen Thompson. A better player who performed well in the top league. Yardley and Murray were certainly true to the cause and popular but no one else was interested in taking them from us.
  8. Schoolboys should respect their elders. What exactly did I say that was incorrect
  9. Yet again someone on here getting all misty eyed over a glorious past that never existed. We have always had a dreadful record up there. I've been going there with saints since the sixties and can only recall two wins, maybe three and very few draws. Hopefully I get a pleasant surprise today.
  10. If so I hope its announced quickly as I've got other options for that day that I need to commit to in the next couple of days.
  11. Didn't say that. I'll repeat. Better in Premier league.
  12. I'll always go and always will as long as I'm able but appreciate where you are coming from I do think Scottish football is in a dreadful state due to the power and adoration of the old firm. I wish they would go to England but that ain't going to happen. I know our league would be less well off financially but it would still be more enjoyable than what we have.
  13. Would always rather be in the Premier but we need to find a way to progress in it. A few seasons of just surviving isn't going to bring in the crowds. A successful championship will but we all know how difficult it is to get there after relegation.
  14. Don't think he did anything extraordinary. I was comparing what we have now with him. What we have now I actually think is a negative influence. Brian was steady if unspectacular. I also can't believe Tony does or is capable of doing the full range of duties. I may be wrong but that's how it looks to me.
  15. For as long as I can remember there has been no spark at board level and that is where the club is driven from. I'm not saying we should have a board that overdpends but we need one bursting with energy and we don't have that. In Brian Caldwell we had a steady if not stunning CEO. I have a feeling his Board would not give him much space as they appeared to enjoy the power. We nowhave someone who if he has a role certainly isn't doing much other than making embarrassing remarks Managerially TH and JRwere a breath of fresh air. Gus achieved a lot but hardly got the enthusiasm levels high. I also tend to think that there is a closed shop feel about the place at non playing levels that needs to be addressed.
  16. Agree with all of that. Since world war 2 our mean average league position has been between 12th and 13th so we are really where we usually are. On that basis a regime that gets us above tenth is I think successful and one that has us below fifteenth is a failure. I actually thought Danny was a poor manager but on reflection he did rather well given the above If we want to advance need to have a better CEO at the helm. Compare Leanne Dempster at Hibs with Tony and it becomes obvious. Likewise on the commercial front the set up seems stagnant and can think no further than having yet another dinner. We have a long way to go but clearly our current structure and staff in post does not provide the answer
  17. TF is a liability in his current role, not a magician.
  18. Great to visit other grounds and have a good day out. If however it is to pay homage to Jack Ross l I think the individuals involved need to think how this looks to Oran who should be getting support rather than get a message that they all wish Jack was still here. Stop living in the past. Jack left because he wanted to. Oran is going to get more of the same on Saturday when Jim Goodwin takes the plaudits from those who would like him as manager. If Oran saves us from relegation it will far outweigh anything Jack did. Will they then follow him to his next job or is it just good looking smooth talking Jack they have a crush on.
  19. I felt he displayed naivety, didn't seem to be a realist, was impulsive and intellectually and experience wise had an inappropriate background. As an aside and for what it's worth I suspect there was a lot of exaggeration in the book. I also didn't like the writing style albeit I'm sure it wasn't Tony writing it. It certainly didn't seem it was Tony talking to me. Perhaps I'm not the brightest but I found it rather patronising.
  20. Having just read the book I'm now convinced that he is never a CEO in a month of Sundays. Great player, rubbish manager and CEO.
  21. Why does the club continually pander to this bunch of schoolboys and adults who act like schoolboys. They don't improve the atmosphere. I can't hear them from w2 anyway and theyare a nuisance at away games.
  22. I see in the Times today Graham Speirs singles out Ryan Edwards as always being a poor player including Saturday. I disagree and wonder if Speirs has forgotten Edwards is a Hearts player. Hearts a team that Speirs loves saw fit to sign him. He is a better footballer than the annoying Speirs is a journalist. I remember last year how sorry Speirs was that Dundee Utd didn't get promoted as they were so important to Scottish football. He never praised us at all to the best of my knowledge. In short I can't stand Speirs and just needed to say it.
  23. I agree that Cody Cooke is worth a starting place. He is physical enough to cause problems and can help set up Jackson. Surely we can take something from this game.
  24. Cody played well but star man for me was Jeff King
  25. My apogies for not making myself clear. Point I was trying to make albeit not very well was that Neilson got a demotivated squad working well. Oran has not got a demotivated squad working well. Of course the quality of the squad matters probably more than anything. My assumption is that given the same squad if Neilson was in charge he would get them motivated and organised quicker than Oran would ie I would have liked Neilson to have been appointed by us but Tony screwed that up. January will confirm whether Oran has the ability to strengthen the squad as well as motivate it and organise it
