  1. Quality of squad is irrelevant. Neilson got his motivated. OK hasn't yet
  2. I notice the Hearts fans are sitting like normal people with consideration to others while Celtic fans are all standing. Bunch of uncultured bigots caring nothing for anyone else.
  3. I think we are about the correct level as determined by history. Our mean average position in Scotland since World War 2 has been between twelfth and thirteenth. Sometimes much better sometimes much worse, usually there or thereabouts. I've no doubt we will be relegated but we will come back up. Have to confess when we won the championship last year I was overjoyed but when watching the open topped bus couldn't help but think we were over the moon at being thirteenth of Scottish clubs ie our normal position. I was also a bit hacked off that we didn't win it in style against Livi and at the games near the end we certainly didn't look like champions. In fact we never hammered any opponents during that season apart from Dumbarton at home. That has simply carried over but into a far superior league. Jack may have won us the league but certainly left us in a poor state which he may or may not have succeeded in changing. We will never know. Stubbs to his credit recognised that but totally screwed up trying to recover from it. We are where we are and it's not a million miles from where we usually are. I never rated Danny Lennon but he took us above our normal level and also got us a cup which did merit an open topped bus. By reverse Stubbs took us the other direction. Twas always thus
  4. Much as I want Oran to succeed I have seen or heard nothing that suggests he will. Think he may be out of his depth. If his carer break allows him back into his old job at the end of this season I suspect we won't see him for dust. Robbie Nelson has improved united with no new players. We haven't had that bounce. Hope I am so wrong but watching games like today are doing nothing to assure me. Just as well I'm looking after grand weans tonight so won't touch the demon drink. I need one.
  5. And there lies one of our problems. Robbie Nelson seems to have Dundee Utd back on track but appears to have been scared off us by our unrealistic ambitions. Wonder if that was Tony. Tony was a great player for us but has failed in all other roles ie manager and CEO. He seems a genuinely nice guy but I fear his influence may, unwittingly, be negative.
  6. Fully agree. Hanging on till the window is critical. It is now clear that no manager is going to do much with this bunch of players. The big problem was the quality of Stubbs signings. Maybe just maybe Stubbs got it right about last seasons squad in terms of being able to compete in this league. Regrettably his recruitment was abysmal so the problem didn't get sorted. I think some of last seasons squad think more highly of themselves than they merit on current showing. They were the players who went in the huff and need to take a look at themselves. S. McGinn and Smith were rotten yesterday I'm afraid and need to get their acts together. I always assumed they would cope at this level but looks though I'm wrong. Hope they prove me wrong. If Oran can keep us in the league given where we are now he will deserve legendary status.
  7. Are the players especially S McGinn in the huff again about something. Looks like it to me. Time for them to start picking up mentally
  8. Perhaps the w7 lot should show their solidarity and boycott today's game and catch up on some of their school homework instead . ( some of them are far to old for school and should grow up) Oh for an afternoon of peace from juvenile antics and banging a drum. Just want to support my team and see a victory without being annoyed and embarrassed by a bunch of immature wee boys.
  9. I hope those players who took the huff at Stubbs act more professionally with the next manager. They have gone way down in my opinion and appear to think they are a lot better than they actually are. They have a lot to prove.
  10. Exactly. Some people on here just can't seem to get their head round the fact that just because they want something to happen the person involved eg Goodwin might not. Same as some people wanting to keep Jack Ross. He didn't want to stay. We can't force people to come or stay with us. For what it's worth I think Goodwin is holding off knowing Jack's successor was bound not to do as well after which Goodie would be in a no lose situation coming back.
  11. But if he came to wave to the fans at the end all would be forgiven. Much more important than getting results. Would bring us all together to share the misery.
  12. Maybe OK at home as I'm not near them but I move to steer clear of them at away games. I know they are just kids albeit some of them are a good bit older and need to grow up. The behaviour is juvenile and annoying rather than being threatening. Just like a lot of people on here. I love being old and being able to criticise the young from my high moral ground.
  13. Regrettably letting Tony anywhere near the business side of things is guaranteed to be a failure. Never understood why we appointed a chief exec who clearly does not have any qualities for that role. I know he loves the club. So do I but I wouldn't be able to do the chief exec job. Frankly I find his ridiculous comments embarrassing. I wonder if the length of contract Stubbs has was Tony's doing. Presumably GLS is able to curb Tony's excesses. I certain ly hope so
  14. I'm too old and mature for that. I'll just enjoy a good moan if you don't mind. Have you finished your homework yet
  15. I hate myself for responding to this. I get that you have an anti Saints agenda, Stuart. But your efforts to focus purely on the negative parts of Jack's tenure are f**king ridiculous. He won the league and was named Manager of the Year. We all know this so why did I react? Top fishing mate. Kudos So Jack goes somewhere he can't fail to be a success. This seems to be how he operates. No risk. I'd do the same but I'm disappointed in him given all the crap he he's told us. Can't bring myself to wish him success. He made us 13th best team in Scotland. I think he crapped out trying to take us further
  16. Well FTOF it's Wednesday and I'm totally sober. I stand by what I said but have to say I'm even more bitter than ever
  17. Jack is now taking the piss and harming the clubs preparations for next season. The magic spell is broken and we should now look at his term of office in the cold light of day. It has been great but job nowhere near finished and it will not be the same under him if he stays as we know he will jump ship ASAP. I will never be conned again by someone saying how wonderful the club and fans are. He is in it for the money exactly as most of us, myself included would be
  18. Clearly someone , presumably Chief Exec , has screwed up. If only two are chosen for Scotland squad we have to play with a weakened side. Lots of people on this site were able to work out the potential disaster so how come the club were unable to do so . Or if they have perhaps we will be told the reason
  19. This game will have to be moved as Dumbarton play in the Challenge cup final that weekend
  20. Had to go to the ticket office to renew my season ticket. When I tried to do it on line the following appeared " The owner of www.smfctickets.co.uk has configured their website improperly. To protect your information from being stolen, Firefox has not connected to this website" I've had no problems in the past but certainly am concerned about this. Ticket office informed me that the website was totally secure. I'm first to admit my IT knowledge is pretty poor but a statement like that on Firefox certainly put me off. I also got a similar statement on my smartphone
  21. Another example of a good player not performing with us but going on to better things. We really are not very good.
  22. So much for the promise that the official site would be the first to give St.Mirren fans news. At the time of writing they havent told us Shankland has left. We really are a bunch of amateurs at all levels playing and non playing
  23. We are in trouble with half the season gone but we have the ability to turn things round. One thing we need to do with clever PR is to get the other teams nervous of us . I remember John Brown at Dundee did this to us a few seasons ago and very nearly succeeded. It sounded over the top at times but it had me worried. Who better to come out with "we're coming to get you " threats than our CEO Tony Fitzpatrick who appears to be comfortable making statements a bit away from the norm
  24. Can anyone tell me if there is information anywhere on the size of StMirren support at away games. Just interested . Thanks
