Can only think of a handful of negative fans this close season the vast majority are very good.
This from the guy who was slating the youngsters in Saturday's line up.
Shocking.
-
Was speaking to Brian Caldwell today (update in the Q&A section) and he is certainly feeling very frustrated at some of the overwhelming negativity on the forum at the moment.
Brian Caldwell is a paid employee and he's having a pop at the guys who pay his wages?
That is truly shocking.

I think the general feeling is that no matter what the club does there are certain individuals who can't wait to put the boot in.
We all know there are certain posters out there who have that profile.
Nobody is expecting fans not to criticise or to voice their opinion, but it is a fact that there are some people who look for negatives in EVERYTHING.
I think every club forum is the same but that doesn't mean we shouldn't try and be a bit different.
Some folk are berating the management team and the players already and that is before a single competitive ball has been kicked !
Why not look at the positives, like the emergence of a number of young players into the squad pre season or the fact that we have won 4 games on the spin scoring 10 goals ?!
It's not difficult to be positive, it takes much less energy than always looking for a reason to moan !
mmmm
I used to back Gus Macpherson week after week when the majority on this forum were very negative and slating him every week.
Ironically, many of them are the very guys who complain about the negativity just now...
-
Makes the search for another SPL centre back even more important.
And to the posters who berate Cheesy - be careful what you wish for!
That will please a lot of the posters on here, I think its a nightmare
The use of a Saints player's injury to try and point score on fellow Saints fans is out of order.
-
Perhaps an opportunity for Naismith to make his mark at centre half with Williams at right back.
However, Naismith now seems to be our only fit out and out centre half so I think we need to get someone else in.
I liked the fact we had 2 big guys in defence in Naismith & McAusland so this is a loss.

full of myself?Your a funny guy like one of these wee dogs that grab you ankles and does not let go.
On you go produce the evidence Andy make full of yourself.
-
wot teams have u managed at the top level? In that he barely has any? Thanks for the confirmation.
can u only discuss football if you've managed at the top level?
maybe div should just close the forum down!
-
er, no they didn't.Oh dear, someone quoted him.............................poor trolling, even by your standards.
You're anger isn't getting any less is it?
deary me, did the voices tell you to make this up?
-
im not from county down, but ancestors were, including Isabella dukeThis from a guy in County Down with a union flag. How is the flute playing going ? Never mind August is almost upon us it can be put away until next July
not sure of the relevance of the flute reference?
you appear to have gained a fixation with chasing me about the forum mentioning flutes and orangemen!

remember last year when all the happy clapping tossers told us pre season friendlies didn't matter. Now they do apparently. Predictable. Clapping when we lose and don't care when win.Remember last year we got beat in just about every pre-season game. Might have been all of them. And it was all doom and gloom. This season we've won them all and guess what? All the usual tossers are at it again. Predictable. Miserable when we get beat and even more miserable when we win.

just read your posts again and, yip, you appear to be horrified at the kids in that line up.Andy stop being a tit. I for one take in youth games when I can. Go back and read my posts. Fully support youngsters in the team it has to be a mix. Thankfully something we have seen over the past few seasons.
the only tit is you!

The real negativity this forum should deal with is the negativity that certain posters show towards their fellow Saints fans just because their opinions differs from their own.
Many resort to personal abuse.
One poster in particular trolls this forum looking to dish out abuse at every turn.
Indeed, after we signed Ross Caldwell he made several posts on the thread abusing fellow buds and / or posting irrelevant nonsense. Not a single post was about Ross Caldwell.
Its these negative posters that should hang their heads in shame.
-
Nothing wrong with your post Wilbur the general consensus I think is constructive criticism is one thing but to slate players and management before a ball is kicked this season is unjust.
This from the guy who was slating the kids in yesterday's line up...
-
Strikers with a physical presence like this don't come along often. He's played in the Championship and his goalscoring record in youths and reserves seems good.
This is the sort of player who can make a real difference to a team.
-
and some don't deserved to be.
Don't be so harsh on yourself.

As we all know there are some folk on here that just slate everything St.Mirren, from signings, style of play, manager and the like. It baffles me as to why these guys are actually St.Mirren fans, what enjoyment do they get from supporting the Saints ?
I won't name names because we all know who they are but come on guys FFS, it seems to me you have the whole idea of what supporting a club is all about, slagging everything about the club is not supporting the club at all !!!
My advice for the new season to you is, face facts the Super Saints are a small club and always will be, we will no doubt be fighting relegation this year again but instead of being so negative just enjoy being a Saints fan because see when you do it right it's f***ing awesome.
And yes I expect many many replies calling me everything from an ar**hole to a clueless idiot! but one thing for sure! come the start of the season I will be 100% behind Tommy Craig and whoever he puts on the pith and furthermore I will enjoy it.
The reason I'm negative is because I'd like to see us do better.
I'd actually put your question to the happy clappers - why do you bother if you are happy with defeat?
In saying that, I am happy with how pre-season has gone and am happy with the squad (albeit I'd obviously like to see another 1 or 2 added who have quality).
I think we'll have a good season ahead.
-
Your wind up's used to be on the side of good , hell knows what's happened to you maybe it's a move to Northern Ireland where you like to now show the Unionist flag.
Have you really turned into an Orange man ?
Deary me.
Orange man?
What a bizarre and nonsensical statement.
Getting back to the issue at hand, your lack of faith in the youngsters - who won the game incidentally - is dreadful.
Shame on you.
-
Reality check needed I think. Its a pre season friendly!
And the reality is that we are winning 4-2.
So what is the issue?
-
This team will look nothing like our starting line up in the first league game of the season.
Won't it?
I'd have thought that most of these guys would be looking to be in the starting line up in the first league game of the season.
4-2 victory as well.
Its a shame that guys like you won't support the youngsters.
-
Not so sure that this is an experimental line up as TC suggested.
That appears to be our strongest line up of players currently available.
-
Don't like the trialist even though he's scored, we don't need an immobile 6'3 striker, which is what he is.
Indeed.
We'd be much better with a mobile striker who doesn't score.
Who needs guys like Higdon & Sutton...
-
Don't sign him, he's not a centre half blah blah blah
Wikipedia says he has actually played at centre half in the past...
-
Well he wont be comming to us then thats for sure unless we sign him at halftime.
We must be in with a shout if he's agreed to play on trial with us today.
-
1-0 trialist scored
Maybe TC has unearthed the new Michael Higdon?
I haven't even seen the guy play but his write up and a goal after 7 mins is getting me quite moist...

So we have 2 young kids able to play centre half Plummer, Tesselaar & Goodwin.
So there really isn't any panic. We are covered.
