  1. That doesn't really answer the question. Scotland's deficit may well be growing and the rUK may well be declining - but that still doesn't tell me whether we are being subsidised by the rUK. Our deficit relative to rUK may still be smaller?
  2. Obviously in absolute terms, but what about relatively?
  3. Stuart, you know I'm a supporter of the yes campaign and I've had a few chuckles on this thread reading the way you have run rings round the no fans. Just going to pick you up on this comment however - as I don't actually know the stats much. The fact that Scotland spends more than it takes in and is running up a budget deficit doesn't mean that we are being subsidised by the rest of the UK surely? Surely the rest of the UK is also spending more than it brings in in taxes and is also running up a budget deficit? I suppose the question is, are we running up more of a defcit than the rest of the UK?
  4. After he'd scored a brilliant goal and played a blinder on the right? Indeed, it was utter madness.
  5. I'd play him right midfield. He was playing on the right when he cut inside and scored that screamer against Dundee United a couple of years ago now. Lennon then inexplicably moved him to the left in the second half and he never played on the right again.
  6. You're struggling with the relevance of us losing McGinn, McLean & McGowan a few weeks after you told us that we had too many midfielders?
  7. And how would that work? We surely wouldn’t want to start shelling out big transfer fees surely? Going down that route under Fitzpatrick & Hay led to disaster. And in this day and age, any player who commands a big transfer fee wouldn’t be within our wage bracket anyway – nor would he be wanting to come to St. Mirren! Use the cash to artificially increase the wage budget for a couple of seasons until it runs out? Save the cash and use to it to generate a smaller increase to the wage budget over the long term? Use the cash to fit out the void in the main stand to hopefully generate an income which again would lead to a more long term but smaller increase to the wage budget?
  8. mmmm Not that long ago since you were saying that freeing the lad Slater and him going to Killie was no issue as we already had McGinn, McLean & McGowan.
  9. All true until you get to the but about freshening up the place. should have got rid of Tommy Craig if they wanted to do that! We're now lumbered with a 63 year old with 6 months of managerial experience!
  10. By the way, Lee Mair, he was hardly Franz Beckenbaur!
  11. You control a match by scoring more goals than the opposition!
  12. On the contrary, watching the game getting played in attacking thirds is far more thrilling to watch than a teams attempting to keep possession in the middle of the park!
  13. Sorry, but its a fact that there IS a magic solution. Direct football.
  14. If our boys are quicker and more skillful then we'll win... but when they are doing their business in the attacking third and not the defensive third! John Barnes made his name at Watford - check out some of his Watford wonder goals on youtube... and check out how the ball arrived in the attacking third.
  15. No, its not a tactic that led to us losing late goals on a regular basis. There is no mixture. If the ball is in your defensive third then you are at risk of losing a goal and have no chance of scoring. If the ball is in the opponents defensive third then you have a chance of scoring and no chance of conceding. Its simple. Blooter the ball up the pitch, get players forward and put the opposition under pressure. Its not about who has possession. The only possession that matters is when the ball is in the goal. Its about where the ball and the players are. Whoever has possession is irrelevant.
  16. Many of the "schoolboy" error goals we concede come as a result of attempting to pass the ball out of our own defensive third then losing the ball. If our defenders just blootered the ball up the pitch we'd get the double whammy of less mistakes plus creating more goalscoring opportunites in the final third.
  17. We'd play him up front of course! If we signed Higdon - and obviously we won't - then he'd be the main man. It would then be a case of where does everyone else fit in around him!
  18. The fact is that Tommy Craig and the senior players stabbed Danny Lennon in the back. Where do all the Lennon supporters go now bearing in mind that the current manager and his cohorts did this to the man they so deeply loved? Danny Lennon was clueless. I was proved right... yet again! Please feel free to apologise to me and bow down to my mastery!
  19. What I find really amusing about all this is that all the while the Lennon fans on this forum were supporting Lennon and abusing anyone who dared speak against him - the current manager and senior players were plotting against him to get him removed. So, will all the Lennon fans - faraway saint especially - now come out and apologise to everyone they abused? What are they going to do going forward now that they know that the current manager stabbed the man they so dearly loved in the back? All those Lennon fans are now completely humiliated and totally discredited. They are to be laughed at for ever more. As always, I have been proved correct. Lennon was clueless. The current manager, the players and the BoD could all see it. And they stabbed him in the back and got shot of him. We are now left with a deeply divided forum where the Lennon fans who abused fellow supporters have been shown up to be a shower of cunts.
  20. Are you saying that the board are clutching at straws in wanting Lennon sacked?
  21. I would've preferred they both went. That is what I wanted!
