  1. Tony said in the club yesterday what positions we need and the number rounded off to 5 players in, not including a goalie which makes me think the club will resist any offers for Hladky.

The most obvious positions of the 5 are two centre halfs and a left back. We have been threadbare incentral defence and there are no guarantees that McLoughlins deal will be granted an extension by Hull

    1. No guarantee we will let Hladky go. But if the price is right Gordon could be a decent replacement. (He has been injury prone at times too though) AND we have someone lined up.

    2. LB is signed to the end of the season. Not sure if he can be recalled, but probably can. Not sure how much he is costing, but we should get someone better. IF we do retain him, he should be the backup.

    3. Doubt we will get Morgan back - he is getting 1st team games now.

    4. Premiership reserve players is an option too...

We will know more in a months time...

I also heard about a possibility of a keeper been targeted. Whether is was for the end of season or for next window I am unsure.

I personally think we need a better left-back with more physicality that can get to the byline and put a decent delivery in.

Celtic have just recently knocked back an approach from Stoke for Morgan, so that gives you an idea of the types of teams that are already showing an interest. I do agree we need a bit of a spark on the wing, as McAllister has not shown any signs of last seasons form and seems to be back to the injury table. I'm sure this is an area that the club will be scouting for. I thought though that Djorkaeff could operate on the left-side of midfield? He doesn't seem to be getting his opportunity at all.

For me, a LB, Winger (If not Djorkaeff) and possibly cover at centre half. We would all love a free scoring striker, then who wouldn't? I think with Cody Cooks return, he could add some value to our frontline.

300K would be an extra 30% toward the players budget, if the £1 Million players budget is true   :whistle

Or used the 300K to keep the family stand bigot free for the next 3 season

You would imagine 300k could get you up to 3 decent players on 2 year deals, including the replacement goalie.

Absolutely, but yet another great advert for the academy. If you were a young kid, or parents of a young kid, you’d have to impressed at what we can offer them. Surely a better opportunity than with the OF.

The only thing i would say we have in our favour if any, is that you only need to look at the players who have came from our academy and worked their way into the first team. This is one incentive to stay at the club and earn your move at a later date when you have games under your belt. Teams like Benfica and Bayern Munich however don't come sniffing around too often.

John McGinn bided his time and got a move a few years down the line which now has him playing at the highest level.

  5. Imagine at that age getting the opportunity to train at those two clubs. Some experience for the boy.

Hopefully we get the chance to see him develop at our club and make sure we help him reach his full potential.

I think if he was to leave at such a young age, the compensation fee is next to nothing.

  6. From what I believe we have already been looking at 3 positions to bring in, goalie included. Whether we have someone lined up to come in next month or not I have no idea, though if we do, then they may just take the cash for Hladky if the price is right. If we could squeeze a further 100-150k out of potential suiters I think we should take it.

I have a suggestion... see all the money made from chucking families out their own stand for the Old Firm games... Use that money to bring back Popescu.

He has been ever present for Dinamo Bucharest since he returned. He is a first team regular. They were looking for around £300k first time round, his valuation to them will most likely have risen. We cant compete in that market, when you see the latest accounts recently released. It is just no sustainable and just shows that we are kind of dependent on that extra money from the ugly sisters games.

Did someone on some thread on this forum suggest that Muzek is currently available ?

If so let’s get him signed up now. Should have never have been allowed to leave in the first place.

    Anyone tracking Popescu ?

From what I believe Muzek was offered a deal and turned it down in the summer.

He's probably been asked the question by the media and that is his response. It's only natural that the media will link him with former players, just like Morgan has been.

Going by his Instagram he flew over on the 27th of September so he has been training with us for some time now

I wonder why he hasn't featured in any unders games yet as a trialist, unless there are some rules against it for overseas trialists.

"SciSports is excited to announce that as of now, St. Mirren FC and SciSports will be collaborating in the field of player scouting. With the addition of SciSports’ data intelligence to the scouting department, the Scottish Premiership club is broadening its options on the recruitment side."

Gus MacPherson, Technical Director of St. Mirren FC: “We are delighted to be teaming up with SciSports as we look to enhance our recruitment model. Working with SciSports will allow us access to a large database of players and help us find new talent from a number of different markets. It’s an exciting partnership for both the club and SciSports and we are looking forward to working with them.

Am i the only one that thinks its a bit of a risk public letting other clubs know how you scout players with potential of them copying your model if you unearth some gems?

McWhirter was a very decent player but in no way whatsoever can be considered our greatest ever player. Are we talking about appearances here? Skill? Captaincy? Because the likes of Shuggie played a lot of games but was 1st division player. I think it has to be somebody who stood out in the top flight like Fitzy or Jack Copland. Ian Scanlon or Peter Weir types. People saying Yardley is laughable. Good servant to club but no-where near good enough for top flight.

Yardley was one of my favourite players from the past, though a tongue in cheek moment from myself suggesting he was our greatest ever player.

What role he isn't suited for? Striker?

I think we need to be more cautious in recruiting from League 2 in England. They may get paid well down there but Sam Foley aside the quality doesn't seem to be far removed from the V9 Academy!

Harry Davis was a decent signing from that level too to be fair. His goalscoring record isnt that bad for a guy in and out of starting lineups.

The jury is out on our front two I agree, though have we given them a decent run of playing together?

So far, it just doesn't seem to work with Morias as the lone striker. Did Hasselbaink (similar build to Morias) not play with big Thommohawk upfront when he was with us? A little and large partnership may be the answer.

Alternatively i'd like to see us start with both Durmus and McAllister on the wings, with a target man in either Cooke or Obika to deliver crosses in to.

With Shankland now having scored three times more goals than our whole team by September!, being touted for a full Scotland debut as well as tracked by the OF and clubs down south...

How does the decision to splash out on signing McAllister stack up, given in his own words he expects to be carrying his injury/ fitness problems for as long as he plays?

Wasn't it obvious who we should have signed?

Shankland who received a 6 figure signing on fee and a 6 figure annual salary by signing for Dundee utd.

This guy seems to be the latest in a long line of truly awful strikers we have had in the Premiership. Almost all our best chances in recent matches have fallen to him whether it be 1 on 1's or crosses he hasn't connected properly with. He also cant seem to run and control the ball at the same time. The ball doesn't stick when played up to him and I haven't seen him win a header yet. Mullen and Obika did more in 2 minutes than he did in the previous 75. He seemed to be trying too hard on his debut now he just seems sluggish.

We can only live in hope that he will significantly improve but I remember thinking that about Ball, Bahooken , Marwood etc etc in recent times.  He needs to be given a rest to brush up on his game in training.

Thing is, he probably is doing well in training hence being front of the pecking order.

Flynn and Foley is understandable, but Cammy MacPherson is on the bench ahead of McGinn today.

McGinn also hasn’t been picked for the reserve games recently either.

Unless there is another injury then it looks like he is being frozen out.

My only take on Cammy being in front of Mcginn, would be his versatility if required to fill more than one position on the field. It seems that the gaffer wants to fill his bench with more attacking minded players. Interested to see what Djorkaeff has to offer when given the opportunity.

The bottom line here is we are seriously lacking goals form the team not just the forwards. WE need goals from all around the team, service needs to be better we need more pace in the team. Maybe start with both McAllister and Dumus on either side the forwards dont fill me with alot of confidence but service is needed and others need to step up with goals as well.

I have a feeling with our attacking options in midfield we will see more chances converted in these positions. Tony Andreu if starting or at least having some involvement in a game, could easily see him bag at least 10 goals this season. I'm quite confident of that.

I still think it's still early days for our front pairing at the moment to judge character. That Obika goal on Saturday was clearly onside.
