Time everybody realised that.

I wouldn't mind tesselar returning to the buddies. Only 24 and played a few seasons now in top league and done ok. At a decent age and won't be commanding a large wage so wouldn't be too disappointed to see him sign for a year or two. I would imagine he left because he was probably one of the lower paid players at the club at the time despite being a very consistent performer for us. A remember hearing at the time that he was happy to remain at st mirren if we had just offered a slightly improved contract. To think within that time we have wasted money on a waster like Grainger. :-(
Assuming his wage demands are realistic and in line with our wage structure then get him signed up. You know you will be getting a talented and committed footballer at a decent age who can really help the team on the left hand side.

Was told this morning that Craig has signed - he's a good source usually - also we have a guy from Newcastle and another from Liverpool coming up, possible 1 year loan deals.

Everyone will have their own opinion about tactics, team formats, and how to approach each individual match against specific opposition. However, one constant that seems to flow through the most successful teams is a strong backbone that allows the rest of the team to play their own game and create an attacking force.
Is that Tommy Craig's template for St Mirren in 2014-15 and beyond ? I certainly hope so !
Four critical positions must be sorted.
GK - Kello and Ridgers (and maybe dilo ?). IMO this is a great start.
Centre back - at the moment it looks like McGregor will be a deserter. That leaves McAusland - is he strong enough to fulfil this key role ? The jury is out - some terrific MOM performances last season but consistency and outright blunders blot his copybook for me. I see him as the 'support' centre back, we need a more dominant figure in that pivotal role. Who can fill that role ? Perhaps Naismith who has been absolutely excellent this season but who would be a loss at attacking right back. Let's hope TC has someone in mind already.
Centre midfield ? Can Jim Goodwin be relied upon ? Back-up required.
Centre forward - we have an ageing front man who encompasses everything from sublime to ridiculous. There has to be someone younger coming through to fill this role very soon,

I've mentioned before that I was in Langcraigs Primary with Archie Gemmil and he was just unbelievable even at the age of seven. As you know, he was only a wee guy and naturally enough he was even smaller at that age. An absolute stand out. When we joined the mighty 4th.BB, the senior team were virtually all 17 & 18 year olds back then and Archie was the star man by the age of 13. There was never a doubt in my mind he would be a professional but I admit I never thought he would have the kind of career he did enjoy.

How can you say for certain we 1) wanted either player,2) would not pay enough 3) be sure that any of said players would. want to sign for us.
I prefer to see what business we do come the end of the Window and even after, to give the new guys a chance to show their stuff on the park rather than greet

In actual fact my son in law is a jambo and has played at a decent level himself says that Dylan is a quality player who is comfortable at full back centre back and midfield. In the last match of the season I have to say I was impressed with Dylan.

Of all the dross mentioned as possible signings so far , he' probably the only one I would accept in a Saints jersey !

I can understand a degree of anxiety as another signing window approaches, given the debacle last close/pre-season. That said, it is beyond silly to be experiencing sphincter twitches already.
I think we have to assume that Tommy will have learned from last season's transfer shambles, and will know that this was one of the major factors that cost Danny his job. He (and/or Brian Caldwell) has already managed to secure Kello for another year, a tremendous piece of business I would argue. We don't have any clear sense as to what the situation was with Gowser, but, if I am being honest, I was more pleased to keep Kello, than I was disappointed to lose McGowan. Had Paul stayed, I would have been fine with that, but I'm not unduly fussed that he is leaving.
It is very early days, folks. Lets try to enjoy the summer to come and relax a wee bit.

As much as i liked him, Mcgowan was paid well over the odds in his final contract. His departure could potentially fill 3 spaces in the squad.
You say the board dont care though if ur memory spans back as far as the late 90s till present, u will find this board cares a hell of alot, so much so they are spending within our means and keeping the club you support alive.

What you also have to remember most players contracts run till the end of June you can't sign a new player until he is out of contract. Tommy Craig has already said he is waiting for certain players contracts to run out.

From what I've seen of him, he's dropped off a cliff rather dramatically. He's a striker who plays off the shoulder and relies on pace to get him into goalscoring positions and when that pace goes, you're not left with a great deal.
He'd be almost a carbon copy of Craig Dargo for us in that we got him far too late and signed him on past glories, albeit slightly less perma-crocked.
