  1. Looks like last week's performance against Motherwell could be the highlight of the season.
  2. Why 'instead of'? I would suggest 'in addition to'. I am amazed and disgusted at the regular negative postings on here regarding young Erhahon. He has been our top performer so far this season by some considerable margin. However, I do agree our midfield looks a bit powder puff without Gogic (and O'Hara).
  3. If there is any basis for the DR report, what will be St Mirren's likely response to Motherwell? And if (as would be likely) it is 'help yourself' - where should we look for a new manager?
  4. We are normally at our most generous when playing deflated teams as past experience has shown.. A convincing win would be great but that is not the St Mirren way of doing things.
  5. Going against the flow and my own gut feelings, but this might be our year - IF the players play to their full potential; IF SR can get the best out of what's available just as we saw a marked improvement in the performance in Curtis Main at the end of last season; IF we get the rub of the green; IF we avoid major injury worries; IF Jay Henderson gets the chance to show his quality on the right wing; and IF the support get behind the team in large numbers from the start.
  6. Now nicely set up for the team humiliated 3-0 by Sligo to start their rehabilitation against our leaky defence on Sunday.
  7. Threads like this should be censored. Apart from being nonsensical, it's hardly going to help support the players who are representing/playing for St Mirren. This is a prime example of the evils of social media.
  8. Baccus makes up for his slight build with speed of thought/action, skill and aggression. Looks a promising signing, albeit after just one game.
  9. A special mention for Richard Tait - he showed surprising ball control to lay on the third goal - almost Joyan Cruyffish in execution!
  10. We were well worth our 3-0 lead at halftime and would probably have doubled that score in the second half if we had played our strongest 11. Nobody can deny it has been a disappointing start to the season but other posters have pointed out the plus points from today's performance - Baccus, Ayunga, Strain, Erhahon, Offord & O'Hara + the younger players got valuable experience - especially Taylor. Question what has Henderson got to do to get a game? The minus side from today was our defence's continuing inability to concentrate for the full 90 minutes.
  11. Better performance today. Playing with more width in defence and attack. Baccus is making a difference and the midfield in general is more creative.
  12. Maybe we're aiming high this afternoon and going for a blank sheet.
  13. We have 3 choices today for OAPs like myself:- PPV @ £15 Attend @ £5 Or stay at home and watch the grass grow in the rain. I know which one I'm going for - so I'm likely to get soaked. However I'm going in hope more than anything else - but hope to see our strongest team in the first half and then perhaps the younger players coming on to show their worth. Maybe the likes of Reid and Henderson will stake a claim to be in the first eleven in the coming weeks.
  14. One of our major failings is our lack of width in both defence and attack. 90% of the time we have noone playing wide on either wing (especially on the right) and we also give the opposition far too much room to attack wide on either flank. As a result everything goes through a crowded centre of the park when we (try to) attack and when that breaks down we are exposed because of the space we allow the opposition to counter attack. Equally our passing is woeful - one paced and normally misdirected. Only Erhahon has the ability to pick out an early and penetrating pass. And as for tactics - your guess is as good as mine. Gogic would at least help to win possession in the middle of the park.
  15. We have missed Power and Gogic in the midfield so far this season - although Erhahon has performed well and O'Hara hasn't been a failure. Even the likes of Arbroath and Airdrie can dominate us in midfield. We sadly lack a ball winner (amongst a few other things). Hopefully Baucus will improve things in that department when eventually bedded in. And there is also the return of the revitalised Curtis Main to look forward to. However, the biggest concern at the moment is the paucity of our defence which was previously our strength under JG. I will leave it to others (even Elvis) to come up with plus points.
  16. Never mind - this has to be the turning point of our season. If not, relegation is a certainty. This must have been the worst performance by a Saints team in living memory - no matter what age you are. I'll leave it to Elvis to come up with some positive spin.
  17. Available as PPV - good clear picture + sound - unlike the Cowdenbeath dbacle.
  18. The Blue Brazil have a cheek to charge £10 for this non-stream.
  19. In line with our dinky little (second tier) stadium - this gives a new slant on the term "Executive BOX". Don't have any problem with the principle - but as with Boris the problem is the delivery.
  20. Shaughnessy, Tanser, Kiltie (despite his deep-lying role), Erhahon, o'Hara and Henderson when he came on, all performed well. We were set up too defensively in the first half and were fortunate not to go in at half time a goal down. We had no natural winger playing wide on the right. In the second half we turned the screw a bit and were unlucky not to score on a couple of occasions. Some clown behind me was calling for Erhahon to be substituted after his only bad pass of the afternoon - whereas he was our best performer today by some considerable margin followed by Kiltie. It's obviously too soon in the season to write us off, but what is certain is that we will have to improve on this level of performance to survive in the SPL let alone finish in the top six..
