  1. This is becoming a bit wearisome . It seems that every 2 months or so, some bigger club than us (and there are plenty of them) makes an approach to speak to our manager. Perhaps the Guinness Book of Records is about to be broken for the number of approaches made for a manager within 12 months. I was one of the first on this forum to support Jack's appointment and he has done a tremendous job over the past 18 months or so. He is indisputably our best manager since Sir Alex. However, enough is enough - we can't go on like this indefinitely and we won't! That is the nature of football management these days I am afraid. The king is dead - long live the king. Dave Hopkins perhaps?
  2. If it transpires that Celtic and Hibs come to an arrangement for the 'exchange' of John McGinn and Scott Allan and Celtic thereby only have to pay the difference in their respective valuations, what would St Mirren's cut be in this - 33% of the difference or 33% of McGinn's valuation?
  3. It’ not only the Board who have a pessimistic outlook!
  4. Yes - we are straying off topic. But you surprisingly seem to be endorsing the club's strategy of planning for failure, rather than success - at least so far as the decision on the replacement for Love Street was concerned.
  5. You've said it all - so far as 8,000 capacity shoe box stadiums go. I suppose it meets the needs of an average Scottish Championship level (or lower) club. For your information, there are 20 clubs in Scotland with a ground capacity greater than the Paisley 2021 Stadium, albeit some might not be in such good condition as ours. We could have hoped for slightly better for a club with the potential (and tradition) of St Mirren. For example - 4 stands similar to Falkirk with a total capacity of at least 12,000.
  6. Hang your head in shame greater Paisley area! During an exceptional season for its local team it could not muster a size of support to at least equal less populated areas like Dumfermline and Falkirk. And don't give us the old cherry of being too close to the blue and green bigots. However, this is not to detract from the quality of those that did manage to turn up. The bias of the media towards the ugly sisters has reached new depths. In some papers (and also the BBC) the coverage for Celtic and Newco regularly top 90% of the total football coverage.
  7. As if our season has not been memorable enough, to finish off with a farewell send-off to Alex Smith is a fitting end to this campaign. Alex was in charge of our cup winning team in 1987 and it is a nice wee reminder that that was the last all-Scottish team to win the Scottish Cup.
  8. Some interesting suggestions here:- http://www.thefootballlife.co.uk/post/173092296615/st-mirren-summer-scouting-report-2018
  9. A lot will depend on any sell-on windfall from John McGinn's transfer from Hibs (if that eventually happens). Only then will we know what we have to work with and who we can afford to replace.
  10. How about a 10ft high fence/netting fitted at the front edge of the 4 stand roofs. It won't help the atmosphere, but it might help stop the balls being regularly booted out of the stadium. I counted 4 out of bounds last night - while Shull was counting his planes.
  11. I think we should take this brief opportunity to speculate before JR acts to equip us with the personnel to cope with the anticipated challenges of the Scottish Premiership. He usually does not give us much time to speculate - going on his record since he became manager. Is it just me - or do you feel a little bit peeved at not having all summer to speculate? A bit of a spoil sport I would say!
  12. To be honest - the celebrations were the highlight of the day and well done to all the players and coaching staff over the season. It has been a momentous 15 months or so. From the greatest ever escape last season to stumbling over the line to the Championship this season. However, we will have to strengthen for next season. While we did threaten Livi in front of goal especially in the second half, we were regularly outplayed by them in the middle of the park. We persisted in heady 'keepy upy' for long stretches of this match despite the fact we have one of the smallest forward lines in the Championship. We regularly lost out on 50-50 situations and we will pay for this in the top flight next season unless we address this "shortfall". McGinn and Magennis helped us to salvage a point along with McKenzie, but this performance did not make for pretty viewing.
  13. "A glorious 0-0 draw against Livi will clinch it on Saturday - it's the St Mirren way." You read it first on the Dundee United v St Mirren thread on Tuesday.
  14. I was not having a dig at JR - I can appreciate why he has not meddled with things in the great scheme of things - if it's not broke, don't fix it. But perhaps we are becoming too predictable and a bit jaded as the season progresses.
  15. As has been said by many posters on several previous occasions - we only seem to have a plan 'A', played by the same team, with little variation in formation. Perhaps it's time to freshen things up a bit.
  16. A glorious 0-0 draw against Livi will clinch it on Saturday - it's the St Mirren way.
  17. BuddieVision still have not addressed the poor quality of picture which they provide. At yesterday's game, the camera shots from behind the goals were so much sharper than those from the main camera at the side of the pitch. Is it not time that BuddieVision invested in more modern equipment? The supporters deserve better.
  18. Says the man with 27,932 posts on the BAWA forum.
  19. The fans who have turned up this season can be proud of their team and the support they have given them especially at away matches. However with a population base of 176,000 in Renfrewshire, it could be argued that the greater Paisley area does not deserve St Mirren. The Buddie Buoys and the Buddie Bears are a strange sectarian breed.
  20. Everyone played well tonight - but I thought that was Stephen McGinn's best performance since his return.
  21. Naw got better things to do with my money (what little I have). If I was Ricky's brother - I think there is a fare chance I would be his big brother.
