  1. Sorry for offending you Froggie - I thought I was just commenting on our most important match in living memory (since last week). If we win this we really are in with a shout of achieving the great escape. On behalf of everyone else who is taking a well-earned holiday at our own expense, we will be with you in spirit if not in person.
  2. I'm in Lanzarote and planning to watch the game on St Mirren TV. Was at the game last Saturday and a repeat of that performance will do fine. Stelios has to start either at fullback or further forward to replace Lewis Morgan. He adds an special ingredient to the team and gives an extra sparkle to an already potent mix.
  3. A bit sneaky misquoting what I originally posted.
  4. After another great victory we've only made up ground on Dumbarton. It's going to be a tough battle for survival - if we did not already know it!
  5. I agree - but this is St Mirren - we don't do it the easy way. Forgetting that for a moment though, if Ayr United, Raith Rovers and Dumbarton all fail to get a point and we pull off the "impossible", it would truly be a turnaround moment of the season for us.
  6. If we can beat Dundee United when not at our best just think where we could be if we produced the form we are capable of (against Hibs) over the next few league games.
  7. Well done Saints - great result but not performance.
  8. We have lost control of the midfield. Hanging on by our fingertips.
  9. 3-2 We are well on our way to losing our 3-1 lead
  10. Article in the Scotsman states that St Mirren now need a miracle to avoid the drop into the third tier of Scottish football. Whilst I think they are over-stating the gravity of our situation, it cannot be denied that we are now running out of time (and points) to retrieve the situation. What was encouraging on Saturday was the attendance at the Paisley 2021 Stadium and the backing of the fans for the team. Although the team's performance was not up to the standard achieved against Hibs, it was still light years ahead of what we witnessed in the previous couple of years. Based on our current level of performances we should still overhaul Ayr United and at least finish 9th. Confidence is a major factor in producing a winning formula so it is important that the players keep their nerve and continue to perform to the maximum of their capability. Reading into Jack Ross' post match interview we could maybe hope that the team which lined up against Hibs will get the chance to repeat that performance against Dundee United. Stelios and Morgan combined well on the left and Kyle Magennis is the best option on the right freeing up Cammy Smith to add more threat through the middle.
  11. It was so good to behold tonight it almost made the suffering of the past three years or so worth it. Almost but not quite! Lewis Morgan missed an absolute sitter in the second half - it should really have been 3-0 - and that would have been a fair reflection of the play.
  12. The only memorable sight which I saw from our kitchen window was my primary school at the time (North Primary) going up in flames one Sunday morning!
  13. I was born a stone's throw away from Love Street at 3pm on a Saturday - I'll not tell you which year.
  14. It's only "highly relevant" if you have basically the same squad of players. We were competing up to January without a functioning midfield (legacy of AR) plus the defence has been significantly bolstered up and the attack has been given more bite (we hope). Let's give the management team the chance to prove themselves and see how they handle this new situation. However nothing is guaranteed - that I accept.
  15. Even if we win on Saturday we will have to "wait and see" - a lot can go wrong between now and the end of the season, but barring injuries to key players and getting a rub of the green we are at least now capable of the great escape, whereas before the January transfer window that looked less likely.
  16. Past history this season is not so relevant at this stage as it would have been previously. We more or less have a new squad of players in important positions and based on Sunday's second half performance (not much to go on I know) we are now hopefully a much improved team and capable of beating anyone if we play to our potential.
  17. Follow your own advice. I was merely asking if you considered that this is the point where we should be assessing the managers performance. You did notice the question mark at the end of my post did you not?
