No. SMISA looked into fan ownership last year and with the resources available it wasn't feasible. Membership has increased significantly over the past 12 months and SMISA is a co-operative trust - it it is something the majority of SMISA members wanted to do, they could choose to move the trust in that direction.

Further to the recent discussion topic started by Lord Pityme - I wondered what appetite there would be for another attempt at a fan takeover? EDIT BY DAVID G Changed to Poll only, plenty threads running to discuss.

Looking forward to it - feels like the Support needs the Trust more than ever.

We did have the Hilman Imp in the youth team but he was deemed too small and was not offered a professional contract.....

Fair point, but you could point to Darren McGregor being let go by Cowdebeath and he was more than capable at the SPL level.

Could be that Longwell rated him but the then manager didn't?

Whether or not this Argentinean takeover happens it is clear the club will be sold eventually and it seems more and more unlikely this will be to ‘one of our own’. Most likely it will be sold to a football agency outfit - we have seen this story before, we know how it ends. We are probably too late this time for a fan or community takeover. But we should be thinking about the future. It is time for us to get organised. We need to be prepared for what’s coming.

I would offer John whatever our top wage is - he's clearly talented and has a big future. Worst case we would recover it from any development fee we would be due.

He's still pretty young, I suspect most of his appearances have been sub appearances? Record for youth teams/reserves looks ok.

Pretty pleased we've resigned Tess, technically very good, still young. But we do still urgently need at least one top quality centre half.

This is a good move for smisa IMO. Obviously Smisa will not gain control of the club this way, but longer term if we have a fans group with 25%+ share holding it could be significant.

IIRC McLean hasnt been with us since he was 16 - did he not sign from Rangers when he was 18 or or something?
