  1. What is sad is that fans who are prepared to attend despite the likely sectarian nonsense of the away support are being put off by the pricing. This is a Championship match and is more expensive than all bar one of last season's home matches in the top flight. How can this be justified? If it is to cover extra police and stewarding costs etc will the Morton game also be £25 and if so why aren't the Alloa, Livingston, Raith and Dumbarton games only £15? Differential pricing only seems to apply one way.
  2. I voted yes because it is certainly possible that we can still finish in the top 4. However my own opinion is that we won't. I thought that before the season started and I've seen nothing to alter that view.
  3. You've done well to top your pish rumours with this bigger pile of pish. Ok I'll bite. Drury, Marwood, Ball, McCluskey, McQuade, Lynch, Caprice, Bahokken. And that's just off the top of my head. We have had plenty more players this millenium who were far worse than Cheesy.
  4. I'd have Ronnie McQuilter in my defence ahead of John Potter.
  5. If that's the case it's a pity he's not such a good judge of a midfielder or left back...... I really hope we're not returning to the familiar scenario we had under Danny Lennon where it cost us money to release players because the manager had fallen out with them.
  6. Away and troll somewhere else. Watch the booking incident again - Morgan commits the foul by pulling Anderson back. The Raith player then carries on his run and is leading with his elbow when he collides with Goodwin. Goodwin has completely cleaned up his act since the clearly unacceptable incident with Connolly at Dundee Utd last season and is now an easy target for referees and roasters like you rather than being any sort of thug.
  7. I was specifically referring to the planned walkout at half time in a match. Can't remember who we were playing.Sitting on our arses booing wouldn't be particularly clever either. In either case you need to be at the game in the first place and you've already indicated you won't be there. If it gets bad enough the fans in attendance will make their feelings known loud and clear. You chucked it before August was out. That's your choice but don't expect everyone to agree with your course of action, or listen to your second hand opinions now. No one is happy with the performances or results but chucking your toys out of the pram won't help.
  8. Yes but you can't bring him on if you have already used 3 subs.
  9. Funnily enough I made the same suggestion in my work (before seeing this thread) and it was also sneered at. In fact I've thought something should be done about this ever since it happened to Saints in the late 80's/ early 90's when Ian Baird of Hearts took out Campbell Money with about 5 or 10 minutes to go in a Scottish Cup tie. So not only were we reduced to 10 men through an act of thuggery, but we had no keeper either. Would those people who are completely against it revise their opinion if it only applied to goalkeepers?
  10. 1/2 is a silly price. we weren't even as short as that last night and we lost so I fail to see how they can make us shorter on Saturday.. We should be favourites though, I'd have thought somewhere around 4/5 or 10/11. By the way Hills have Livi at 4/1, not 2/1 with the draw at 14/5.
  11. We have problems at both ends. Almost half of our goals have been long range efforts. We are definitely not creating enough chances. And the defending is schoolboy at times.
  12. I want these guys to sign but a young striker from Aberdeen and an old head at the back won't solve our offensive problems as things stand. The midfield isn't creative enough and don't get forward quickly enough to support the lone striker. Unless Murray is prepared to go 2 up front ( the best option I think) or at least have someone playing off Thommo (preferably not Gow) we will continue to struggle this season imho. He could have used Gallacher as the 2nd striker or played him "in the hole" already but has chosen not to so I'm not convinced Shankland's arrival will change Murray's preferred formation. I hope I'm wrong though.
  13. Annan are no pushovers at the moment - it took QOS extra time to beat them in the league cup and they can't even use the plastic pitch as an excuse. No doubt there will be a massive meltdown on here if we lose but I think it's a real possibility. Whatever the starting 11, we need to start much more positively than we did against Rangers and Dumbarton.
  14. Nope, you're getting your title winning seasons mixed up. We drew 1-1 at home to East Fife in 1976-77 in our first match, then lost the next game 2-0 at Falkirk. We then went on an unbeaten league run until March whilst Falkirk ended up getting relegated. In the 1999-2000 season we drew our first match 1-1 at home to Ayr , then won 6-0 away to Raith.
  15. The McLean money was needed last season. The McGinn money will presumably help bring in a couple of new faces but only if the BoD budgeted on getting nothing for him in the first place. Our income will be significantly reduced from last season. There are two bigger clubs in the league, one of them much bigger (which may well be spending money it doesn't have but that's another story). These clubs pay much higher wages and have bigger squads with more depth than we do. We have signed a player for our first team who is surplus to requirements at that much bigger club. The manager has had to rebuild the squad from last years wreckage. We have a very young squad with just a couple of old heads to guide them. So all in all, I think it's unrealistic to expect a title challenge this season. I see it as a transitional year and if we make the play offs we will have done well in my opinion. I'm all for ambition, I've complained about the lack of it at the club for a long time, but the reality of the current situation is that we need to rebuild and that is likely to take time.
  16. Cheesy played for Bradford in a friendly tonight, presumably as a trialist. Good luck to the big man, a nicer lad you could not meet.
  17. "An ah'm no' jist sayin that". Legend.
  18. I don't think so. I know the game you're talking about when Ian Ferguson scored 2 goals and Campbell Money had to go off injured. However I think the McDowall pen save was a few years later in a game when we lost 3-2 and Les Fridge went off injured after Darren Jackson's boot landed in a very delicate part of his body. I'm not 100% sure though.
  19. If we had any players Celtic were prepared to pay for Gilmour would drive them to Parkhead himself.
  20. I think we'll do well to make the play-offs. I fancy Hibs to win the league whilst the shambles continues at the new club.
