  1. Actually our home record against teams like Hamilton is actually pretty good. From memory we only lost once to a bottom 6 team in Paisley last year, and that was in August against Thistle. Then again, I'm not asking people to agree with me, I'm just stating my opinion.
  2. Now a mere 7 days until our first home game of the season, and it's a thrilling midweek game against newly promoted Accies. We have our opening 2 games in 4 days and then have a 10 day break while the rest of our bottom half rivals play. The last thing we want is to be left behind early again, and 3 points here would see that doesn't happen. I've said this before, and I know many Saints fans don't like it, but i stand by it and I'll say it again: We should be beating teams like Hamilton Accies in Paisley. I'll go for a tight, nervy 1-0 Saints win.
  3. Who cares what colour or nationality people voting in this referendum are? Certainly not me. Do you?
  4. Who said that? And there isn't people on here who really believe that the worlds largest oil field has just been found in Shetland.... Is there?!
  5. No idea what team we will play on Saturday. From Cheesy being out for 6 weeks a week ago, he now looks set to start at the weekend. This is good news for us in the sense it allows Goodwin to move into midfield. I guess we will look something like: Kello Naismith Plummer McAusland Tesselaar Goodwin McGinn Teale McLean Wylde Ball Although if Marwood, Brown, Kelly or Caldwell started I wouldn't surprised. The reality of the game is that we are away from home to the second best team in the country. Motherwell are certainly favourites and a point would be a fine result for us. Will go for a 1-1.
  6. Gona need my specs to see that from W1 !
  7. Is there any major employers backing independence?
  8. New Survation poll out today: Yes 40 (-1) No 46 (0) Even among yes friendly pollsters like Survation and Panelbase, the separatists are losing ground. Great news for our union
  9. TC said in the PDX last week that his shopping list was ticked off or something similar.
  10. Retard eh? What a disaster of a poster you are. Try to take the political high ground repeatedly, then call a fellow Saints fan a retard in a derogatory manner. You have a problem with retards?
  11. Not at all. If all teams charge £23 for away games adults that's fine. It's something the clubs in the league should decide on themselves and agree to.
  12. Thomas is younger than both Jason Naismith and Sean Kelly. Neither of them broke into the team till they were 19, Thomas is 19 now, he just broke through earlier than those 2 and it seems he's been around forever. I think Reilly will develop further and play a big part for us this season and get himself a new deal.
  13. Well that's market forces at work.Businesses have the right to charge what they like for their product, football clubs are no different. Consumers have the right to either purchase the product, or not to purchase it. ETA what I would like to see is the league step in and enforce a standard pricing structure for away fans. I don't think it should vary from ground to ground.
  14. What nonsense. Clubs don't charge that, grounds aren't empty. Indeed attendances are going up. It's simple economics. The clubs will charge the figure they feel will maximise revenue. If they cut prices in half would double the amount of people go? No, so clubs would lose out. If people think this or any product is too expensive, the way to show your annoyance is simple: Don't buy it.
  15. Cheesy fit for Saturday? According to him he was out for about 6 weeks last Monday.
  16. I don't put emphasis on results, more on performance levels. We never played well tonight, my point is simply if we play like we did tonight next week we will lose at Fir Park. Not that losing there will be a disaster.
  17. Not good tonight, deserved to lose. Play like that at Fir Park next week and we will lose. 8 days to improve.
  18. Classy cupped lug celebration from DG there. Confirming suspicions that he was a f**king prick all along.
  19. TC's main dilemma tonight (and next week unless we strengthen) is a choice of playing Goodwin in defence or in midfield. If he plays him in defence young Declan Hughes - who's had a good preseason - will start in Goody's role in midfield. If he plays him in midfield it will probably mean a centre half pairing of 2 out of 3 of Tesselaar, Williams and Plummer. Either choice means we will be starting the season with a player who has less than 5 senior appearances to his name. They're 3 good young players though, and I think all 3 of them will make the step up this season. If Sean makes it I'd personally go with Goodwin in midfield and a centre back pairing of Plummer and Tess and Kelly at left back. If Sean isn't fit then we will probably need Goodwins experience at the back with Hughes in midfield.
  20. I think it's only going to be loans now, and they tend to happen towards the middle of August once EPL clubs have settled on their squads for the new season.
  21. Everything he's said about Europe and qualifying so far, Lawell has told him to say.
  22. He was at hospitality for a home game last season, top guy. He was my favourite Saints player ever, until Thommo came.
  23. I expect Tommy will look to start the side he plans to start against Motherwell in this one. Will certainly be our most competitive friendly and I hope we approach it in an almost competitive manner. Will be interesting to see if Declan Hughes or Adam Brown start, both have had good pre seasons and either or both could start this one and at Fir Park.
  24. I think Marwood will be mainly used out right. I think we will try go 4-5-1 / 4-2-3-1: McGinn-Goodwin Marwood-McLean-Wylde Thommo/Ball Kenny and John can switch between the advanced and deep role at their leisure and Marwood and Wylde give us genuine pace down the flanks. Can't see us ever starting with Thommo and Ball, but if we are behind going into the last half hour I expect it will happen. It's good to have a plan B!
  25. Ball certainly looks like he will play a big part for us next season. Thompson should be available for the Motherwell game, but I expect he won't be fit enough to start and that Ball will. Still think our captain will be first choice for the majority of the season. Expect that Ball will start a fair few in his stead though, especially if we have 3 games in a week. Doing that and even Ball replacing Hawk for the last 20/30 minutes of games will mean Thompson will be effective for longer at this level. It will be good for Callum too, he's a young player and he will learn a lot from Thommo and could be his long term replacement. I think that may be our last permanent signing. Hoping at least 2 more coming in on loan from the EPL though.
