    Beers

Kreik's - Only Lambic beer I've seen in this country. Brewed with natural occuring yeast's. Can be quite tart. Developed by Belgian monks - Did they ever do any praying? Unpasteurized Guinness - Full of life, a meal in itself. Greene-King Christmas Ale - Only available during December, this is one to warm you up on a cold afternoon. Mann's Brown Ale - A real treat. Timothy Taylor's Landlord Ale - As I mentioned on another thread it's me and Madonna's favourite Ale. PS. It's also hard to beat a good chilled lager on a hot day!

  6. LS, I was reasonably happy with the choices offered apart from the 90's where I would have chosen Dream Theater (US band/spelling). Best Live bands I've seen - 1. Alice Cooper: Always a great show - backing band can be variable. 2. Bruce Springsteen (Edinburgh Playhouse 1981) - seen him at bigger venues since but he's was on top form on The River tour. 3. Bob Marley 4. Big Country: Loudest gig by far & I've seen Motorhead, Iron Maiden, The Who (First Farewell Tour) oh and Thin Lizzy 5. The Ramones
  7. I've been watching Channel 4's Music Hall of Fame. Care to choose 5 acts one from each of the following decades; 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's? Five acts are exempt Elvis Presley, The Beatles, Bob Marley, U2 and Madonna. By clicking on the site below you can get onto their site and see the nominees:Hall of Fame 50's: Chuck Berry 60's: Bob Dylan 70's: Pink Floyd 80's: R.E.M. 90's: Nirvana There's lots of stuff on the site altho' not all of the pages work! Some of the commentry is pretty ropey too. How can Born to Run not be one of Springsteen's essential albums?
  8. Apparently there is going to be a new "The Producers" due to be released late 2005!
  9. McB, Yeah, I used to have a copy of that. Laura Nyro: Gibsom Street was a favourite of mine!

  12. McB, Yup! You're right, the song I meant was "Once an Orange, Always an Orange" which is an instrumental. I knew it had a fruity title!

  14. Ching, big fat woman - Obviously not the song I was thinking about. Try this site about a blues singer with an interesting background Lucille Bogan Regarding her physical features, by her own admission she was “a big fat woman with the meat shakin’ on my bones†- â€Struttin’ My Stuff†In those days blues singers used to customise the lyrics for songs - so it might be a version of the above song, but then again......
  15. Ching 1. She was a big fat woman, oh yeh, with big fat legs .... Is it "Fat Chicks in Spandex" by Sudden Death 2. Maybe it's because - I'm a Lahndaner... 20. Reidy, Probably more than you want to know this but the bass arrangement on "Walk on the Wild Side" was two tracks one played on an upright bass and one on an electric. Herbie Flowers who played bass on the album says that this was his arrangement and the reason for the two different bass guitars was that he was being paid MU rates (£6 per instrument per song). Anorak off!
  21. Baba O'Reilly - The Who Ramblin' Man - The Allman Brothers Bad Moon Rising - Creedence Clearwater Revival Warewolves of London - Warren Zevon Rock the Casbah - The Clash
  22. Here's another five that didn't raise many chuckles: On the Buses Goodnight Sweetheart Bottom Billy Roll over Beethoven
  23. Didn't think there was much interest, Div: anyway Gary Numan and Randy California (crazy name, crazy guy) both formed groups which included their uncles (on drums). Donga, The narrator of the Happiness Stan section of the album was Stan "the man" Unwin a star of radio.
  24. dmc + codfish Thanx for the advice. BtB
  25. Hi Guys, A comrade at work appears to have uploaded a virus called "Trojan Horse" which announced it's presence and froze his computer. When he attempts to reboot he gets to so far and then the same thing happens. Firewalls and Anti-Virus software are novel concepts to him so I presume there is nothing of this nature on his machine (he can't get to them anyway). Do any of you have any suggestions? PS. He is unsure of what version of Windows he is running. Nice Guy but a bit naïve about computers. Any help would be more than we’ve got at the moment. Thanx
