  1. Just a fracas? http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/entertainment/celebrity/jeremy-clarkson-called-top-gear-5330155 Intoxicated at work. Poor punctuality. No respect for other work colleagues. No respect for members of the public. Physical violence (criminal?). Disregard for employer's reputation in public. Racism.
  2. He still won't get a yellow card and they won't show it on Sportscene.
  3. They made a special "Congratulations on the League Cup" biscuit 2 years ago. Still have mine in the fridge. Could not face eating it. I'm glad as it reminds me of those distant glory days every time I get the milk. Must be some amount of preservatives in it ..
  4. Saw the May 2003 annular eclipse from Durness. Thousands of folk on beach and cliffs drew a breath when the Scottish weather played fair for once and the morning sea mist cleared just in time. The seabirds went totally silent as it darkened. http://www.caithness.org/fpb/may2003/photogallery/index.php?gallery=36ℑ=6 Reminds me to get my old "print" photos out from this and scanned. The upcoming one will be over 90% in the west of Scotland, 95% in the Hebrides. Let's hope for clear skies.
  5. Seriously? Crufts is an abomination. It has nothing to do with dog welfare; encouraging breeding for looks, rather than behaviour or health. The RSPCA, Dogs Trust and PETA refuse to have anything to do with it now. It is, all about human vanity and greed. It's no surprise some of the humans associated with it will go to the lengths detailed in the article. If you want a dug, go to the home at Cardonald. There is plenty there with wonky tails, eyes, paws etc. And they will be better for it.
  6. Is white dug shite involved?
  7. Just like the good old days; you get to sit on gym benches and if it's pishing down you get soaked to the skin.
  8. Yes at the Renfrewshire Cup Final they actually had a block of square sausage. Bloke in van sliced it just right and fried it on demand and into roll. Made me forget free beans and crap bridies at SMP.
  9. The Argentinians signing an agreement to buy the club this week ......
  10. Today's paper in Girona states that the Argentinian group have formally withdrawn any interest in purchasing Girona FC. It also indicates that they are now looking at other clubs in Spain. No mention of St.Mirren. The only hope for Girona FC avoiding bankruptcy seems to be Pere Guardiola. Not a typo, it's his brother.
  11. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/31134866 Up in front of SFA for post Dundee comments. Good for Gary. Danny and Tommy were far too passive. Managers of other "bigger" clubs get away with this all the time, and use it to their advantage.
  12. Sounds like a job for Andy Murray, but he is otherwise disposed. It'll be another great, Thommo plus Mallan and McLean for a straight sets victory. Also, Thistle will run out of pies in main stand due to 2000 Saints season ticket holders turning up.
  13. Just think of the effect a boycott would have on your burger bar. It's a 3 team league now. Saints will finish top; whether you attend or not.
  14. The men from Buenos Aries have said no to Girona. Went back home last night. They had agreed 2.3 million euros, with an extra 1.7 million if Girona gained promoted this season.Sticking point was a guarantee there were no nasty liabilities lurking in Girona's books.Seems the deal could still be completed long distance, but has to before Feb 19 when the club could be declared bankrupt. So neither Girona or St.Mirren appear to be getting sold this week.
  15. Yep, an ambiguous tweet but would make sense. Pini's pulling out of Girona deal, he is a Spanish speaking Scot, and lives near Girona. New Chief Exec? Hope not. Anyone seen the Pini's on the Ryanair flight tonight from Girona to Prestwick. Arrives 2245 so they might catch the last train to Gilmour St. Somebody tell them Kilwinning is their stop.
  16. She would fit in well in W1. Pity she's a Hibs fan. 0-3 on Friday night. 3-0 on Sunday morning. Will be a good weekend.
  17. Has Craig Whyte joined the BOD? Directors trousering company cash is just a teeny bit illegal.
  18. La Liga is about to agree to go to a collective TV deal from season 16/17. Currently, the teams negotiate their own deals, with Barcelona and Real Madrid getting the lion's share of the TV money. It seems the big 2 will still get the most, but the smaller clubs, like Girona if promoted, would see large increases. So they would be the equivalent of a Burnley in the EPL, £30 miilion a year. I don't think Sportscene will ever pay that.
  19. If the current BOD stay it will be right back into the club.
  20. The transformation in the team since the game at New Douglas Park is marked and must be down to GT and DL. Personally, I think GT might have taken out Alex Neil on the touchline, but we will never know. We now have a team with an edge. Let's hope fluency in Spanish does not become part of the manager's job description as I fear that may not be part of Gary's skillset.
  21. Does anyone think Ciftci did the same after last night's game ? From yesterday's Herald; Mohsni's call to mother leads to apology Gordon Stevenson Wednesday 21 January 2015 RANGERS star Bilel Mohsni has been forced to apologise to Tunisia manager Georges Leekens after storming off from the bench during a game to phone his mum to comfort him. The erratic Ibrox stopper was upset to be dropped by Tunisia for their opening African Cup of Nations game against Cape Verde Islands. Mohsni walked away from the bench and into the dressing room before the match was even over, causing outrage in Tunisia, with their media suggesting he was ready to quit the tournament and return to Glasgow. Now the former Southend United player has offered an explanation and an apology to Belgian boss Leekens. Mohsni said: "I was disappointed and frustrated that I wasn't playing. "It's because I came here to play, but I respect the choices of the coach. "I just went to the dressing room to call my mother to comfort me. I certainly wasn't making arrangements to go home. "I call her when things aren't going well. "It is important not to interpret the gesture negatively. "I remain committed to Tunisia and the atmosphere in the team group is very good." Mohsni's next game is tomorrow against Zambia in Group B.
  22. It looks like thing might be moving on in Spain. The Pini brothers took the huff after the Girona folk wanted the 600000 euros required to pay the clubs immediate debts and avoid bankruptcy next month on top the agreed 2.4 million sale price. The brothers said the 600000 was previously agreed to be part of the 2.4 million. The Pinis went off to see the Barca v A.Madrid game, saying it would be the plane home after that. Somebody must have blinked in the Mexican standoff as Girona released this yesterday; Girona FC wishes to report that it has signed a confidentiality agreement between the Club and Mr. Richard Pini. With this agreement the parties agree to work together to determine the economic needs of the club and establish economic roadmap to end the season. Girona believes that this is a step forward in negotiating the entry of Mr. Richard Pini a shareholder of the club. There seems to be an agreement for addons of up to a million euros if Girona go back up to La Liga this year. Hopefully, that would bust the Pini's kitty and we can wait for a Brown/Budge, mixed with the current board and a dash of fans instead. If instead the Pinis have loads of money and go for the double with St.Mirren then it's worth considering that third party ownership is allowed in Spain and that one of Girona's top players is one Franco Sandaza erstwhile of these parts.
  23. The 7 figure player would be Argentinian, Santiago Garcia, who played for Rosario in Argentina and then moved onto Italy with firstly Novaro Calcio, then Palermo. He played 41 times for Palermo and was then transferred to Talca Rangers in Chile on 31st August 2013. The next day on the 1st September 2013 he was loaned to Werder Bremen, playing 22 times that season. The loan ended on 30th June 2014 and the next day he was signed by Werder, and has played 16 times this season. The total fee payed by Werder (loan and transfer) is listed as £1.8 million of which a third went to Palermo. Of the rest we can only surmise how much went to Talca. KPMG state that third party owners in South America can own up to 50% of a players rights. FIFA say 25% of transfers go to the player or agent. That would leave £300000 for Talca who were 100% owned by Piducano SADP, in turn owned by the brothers Pini. Rosario might have had a cut of future transfers. Talca might have got £150000 or maybe less. Santiago Garcia never played for Talca; nor even visted the club or Chile while registered with them. The Pini brothers sold Talca in September 2014. There were no taxes on football transfers in Chile, but I guess a transfer from Italy to Germany would incur taxes.Taxes would be payable by football transfer sellers and buyers in the UK. This was all decided to be legal after numerous court cases, but in January 2013 the Argentinian FA and tax authorities announced they would bring in rules to ban third party ownership, invoke new taxes related to football transfers and insist on new registers of player ownership. They have blacklisted clubs considered to have abused the transfer/tax system. The whole thing has a whiff of EBTs about it. Legal but pursued relentlessly by the taxman and then banned. I can't see how any of the above would be allowed under existing SFA and HMRC rules.Third party player ownership is banned by the SFA. Dual ownership/interest of clubs is banned by the SFA (Rankine and Ashley), so any Girona purchase would surely mean deal off. The new owner of Talca has admitted that the Pini brothers still have interests in many squad players. Talca Rangers were in administration when the Pini brothers bought them in an auction. Girona FC are currently in administration. I don't think, thankfully, St.Mirren are anywhere near administration. If the Pini brothers, the Floridian hotelier and the other bloke gain control of St.Mirren through T4C Sports Ltd I hope they have a new business model.
  24. Missed the obvious clincher in the dodginess stakes; previous involvement with Rangers(of Chile).
