  1. EXCLUSIVE: St Mirren closing in on Taylor St Mirren are closing in on a deal for Waterford’s Richard Taylor. Buddies boss Stephen Robinson is looking to seal a move for the central defender. The former Burnley youngster has come on to Robinson’s radar from head of recruitment Martin Foyle. The 22-year-old was across to Paisley for a club visit. He is now waiting to see if a deal can be agreed to see him move permanently when the transfer window opens next month. Taylor has also had senior spells at Southend and at Dagenham and Redbridge. Foyle has been a big factor in shaping Robinson’s squad, bringing in the likes of Jonah Ayunga and Toyosi Olusanya. St Mirren had a strong start and now find themselves just outside the top six. The Buddies board are set to back Robinson and his squad as they try to push for European football in the second half of the season. (Daily Record)
  2. Not on for long but actually did really well. Couple of good interceptions, got a bit of the ball and some good passes to link play. Great achievement for the lad. He’ll be moving on to higher things eventually, a brilliant signing for us.
  3. OHarra must be spewing. That goal was fit to win any game. Combination of lack of savvy from us and a stubborn ref. Sometimes you get an extra minute beyond injury time but he really pushed it tonight. We were unlucky not to get the three points. Sickener.
  4. Absolute joke. What was the ref thinking with all the extra time?????
  5. Thought Gogic might have got the nod in midfield with Baccus out. Need a bit of dig in there and protection for the back-line. Got a good attacking threat but we need to cut out the day dreaming at the back. Fancy Greive to score. Big game in terms of possible league position going into the long break after this weekend. Any kind of win would be magic.
  6. Ronan starting for Wolves tonight against Leeds. Hope he has a stormer, as well as our boys against the Fakes tonight. 🤞
  7. A reasonable response in the aftermath of yesterday’s game and his interviews have improved ‘night and day’ from his first few post match efforts when he first arrived. I wonder if the Northern Ireland job links have been a distraction to the team. There was a rumour flying around the away end at Easter Rd last week that he was away after that game, which wasn’t helpful. Imagine he’ll at least get an interview. He’s spot on with everything he’s saying about individuals losing their men/not tracking. He’ll know exactly who the culprits are and he’s talking about changing personnel so maybe big Joe will get the nod that he’s probably due. One of the biggest worries yesterday apart from the woeful defending was our lack of quality on the ball. How many times did we pass or hoof it straight to a County player? Real lack of composure and they were cutting through our midfield with ease too. Would Gogic not be better in there for a bit more dig and to protect the back line? He did exactly that for us last season Looks like we’ve finally found a decent free-kick taker in Strain which is a positive. You can tell Robinson is hurting with our away performances like the rest of us and I still have faith in him, most of our home form has been great and we’re sitting in a decent position in the league. Our depth and quality of squad is the best we’ve had in a long time. Just need to turn a few of the away games into draws and keep the home form going. Any kind of win against the Fakes will get us motoring again and set us up to have a right go at Sevco before the break, where we have a tricky run of games to follow.
  8. Feel for the Buddies that travelled up to watch that today. The lack of composure and basic passing today was incredible. Constantly losing the ball and the defending was woeful. I wasn’t expecting us to keep up the great start we’ve made but I’m shocked at the level of the drop off. What happens to us away from home??? Got what we deserved today.
  9. Our new 3rd kit after that first half. Take it all day long though. Great freekick by Strain but we look off the pace. Fingers crossed that we can hang on for the win.
  10. I can’t remember such a positive turnaround in a Saints player. Whether it’s a confidence thing or whatever, big Curtis has become a great asset for us, within the best squad we’ve had in a long time. Happy days (for the moment); enjoy your Saturday night Buddies. 🍻
  11. Goal going down as an og (keeper)? Did it hit the post then in off the goalie? Great header however it went in and the strike off the bar was so unlucky.
  12. Not great prep for today’s game. Hopefully just paper talk but you can understand N.I. being interested. Success creates speculation I suppose and Robinson does seem to be building something very positive at the club. Long may it continue with a good win today and N.I. decide on someone else.
  13. Pretty dire. A point that we’ll take. Biggest positive was Carson today. Some really big saves and looking commanding sweeping up with the ball at his feet. Was hopeful of a win but a draw is a fair result.
  14. We’ve grown into it. Killie started better. Best chances for us, Main and Ayunga. Everything for Killie is coming down our left where they seem to have too much space. Ref not picking up on Lafferty’s constant fouling. “Touch wood” that big fanny doesn’t score. Great reading/interception by Strain when the ball fell to Killie through on goal, but we’ve looked the more likely. Tight second half ahead.
  15. It did feel comfortable in comparison to those stats. We did let them build from the back but were so well drilled and sharp in our own half. When we actually got hold of the ball, we were composed, used it well right through the team, broke really quickly and it was sticking up front. It was brilliant. Another thing that went on our favour was a decent ref for a change. He wasn’t falling for the diving from the Celtic players. Some refs cave in to the big 2 up here, but he had a really solid game. Still buzzing from the performance and result.
  16. Beaming Buddies; a much better backdrop than hoards of Celtic fans in our family stand (even if their glum faces would be amusing).
  17. COY SAAAAAAAIIIIINTS!!!!!! Superb to a man and game plan worked perfectly. Hopefully our brilliant performance and shock result will take some of the attention from all the Royal Family chat. Ya dancer!!! Well done to all the players and staff. Well deserved victory.
  18. Aye, made the bench in the week too. Hopefully he can get a wee cameo today. Much better than seeing him in a Hearts or Aberdeen top.
  19. You look at the 2 handball pens against us this season and we don’t get that??????
  20. 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞
  21. Yeeessss!!! COYS!! Big result under the circumstances.
  22. Cemented his name in our history with ‘that goal’ but scored a few more too. His goal against Motherwell was a peach and the build up to it reminded me of some of the really nice football we played under Danny. We had some proper players in that team. All the best to Connor at his new club and we’ll be forever grateful for that famous ping at Hampden.
  23. We should be looking to win every time we play at home, probably out with the uglies. It might feel unrealistic at the moment but home games should be an advantage. We’ve been a soft touch at home for too long. Teams like County and Livvy seem to have belief when they play at home, Livvy’s pitch is a big advantage for them to be fair. Plastic pitches in the top league is a joke. We’ve lacked a bit of luck but if we play like we did against Well but are a bit more clinical it should be enough to sneak a win against a good County team. Always think wee Henderson shows belief, always wants to have a go and looks like he can make things happen and get the home crowd going. Hopefully he’ll get more time on the pitch. Gallagher is a big miss but Tanser and O’Hara should be back. Hopefully we can grab 3 points and get a wee bit of momentum.
  24. Think most of us were not expecting to take anything from Aberdeen yesterday. Goodwin looks to be building an exciting team there. We know he has an eye for a player and money to burn and he’s gaining more experience as he goes. They’ll give a few teams a doing this season. Gallagher made sure that we were taking nothing from the game. I had a bad feeling about him going back up there as the Dons fans hate him. His tackle on Coulson was poor and although he was a bit unlucky with the pen he did dive to block it. He showed us what he can do when he was brilliant against Well but he does have an issue with decision making like big Joe did with us initially. Hopefully it’s just a blip and he kicks on like Shaughnessy has. Poor performance yesterday and not Robinson’s fault that we went down to 10 and still early doors in the league but if we fall to another defeat against a decent County side the pressure will be on Robinson, with the disgraceful showing in the league cup too. Makes the Motherwell mugging even more frustrating.
  25. Yes, we were unlucky and Kelly had a great game but our finishing and the ultimate final result is completely unacceptable against a terrible Well side. We need to win these games by whatever means and we didn’t even manage a draw.
