  1. Jamie Langfield. ABERDEEN FC DONS TERMINATE LANGFIELD’S CONTRACT ABERDEEN FC have confirmed that veteran goalkeeper Jamie Langfield has left Pittodrie after his contract was terminated. Langfield hadn’t featured for the first team this season and was third in the pecking order of keepers, behind Danny Ward and Scott Brown. The 36-year-old is now expected to join Championship side St Mirren as a player and goalkeeping coach. Langfield said “I have loved my time at the club and have spent the best period of my career here. “However, I still have much that I want to achieve and am looking for an opportunity to continue to play regular first team football. “I also want to look at the option of combining playing with coaching going forward as I see this as a long-term option for me.” Aberdeen FC manager Derek McInnes added: “Jamie has been brilliant to work with and his desire to keep playing first team football is admirable and understandable. “On behalf of everyone at the club I would like to thank Jamie for his tremendous service over the years and wish him all the very best for the future wherever that takes him.”

  10. I haven't read the article myself, but if you were to ask our fans who they think might win the league, I think most would realistically say The Rangers. And why not, as they are quoted as 4/9 favourites.Steven Thompson is no different than you or me and quite frankly I'd rather him speak honestly and realistic than spout some pre-written pish. I am more than sure he and the rest of whatever team St.Mirren have on the park, will be trying their hardest to win every game. You say Thomson states he EXPECTS The Rangers will win the league, he didn't say he WANTS them to win it.And you as a die hard fan bought your season ticket because you love your club, just like our captain does.

  13. I would like to think that a club of our size and stature could manage to finish second in this league. I don't think it will be possible though with our current first team squad. Having said that Ian Murray will be well aware of this and as stated will sign another four players. It is unfortunate though that we couldn't get a balanced squad together through pre season friendlies and training, ready for the season starting. COYS !

  15. From STV Sport... Hibernian have agreed a fee with St Mirren for midfielder John McGinn - with the 20-year-old set to sign for the Easter Road club subject to a medical. The Scotland Under-21 captain - who has made close to 100 senior appearances - is a free agent having left the Paisley club following the end of his contract last season.McGinn will now join Hibs after the Easter Road club agreed a development fee with St Mirren for the midfielder - as confirmed by Alan Stubbs on Thursday. The midfielder spent a week training with MLS side the Houston Dynamo earlier this month, with Owen Coyle keen to complete a deal for the midfielder. However, MLS regulations on non-US and Canadian players meant the Dynamo's move for McGinn was ultimately scuppered. The 20-year-old missed the final few weeks of last season after being spiked in the thigh with a training pole thrown by Buddies captain Steven Thompson - with McGinn taking legal action. But the midfielder is now fully fit again and will sign for Hibernian subject to the passing of a medical examination. Good luck for the future John, but I hope we pump you and your new team.
