Fwiw our first game is against a team in the bottom tier, our 1st 11 is going to be made up primarily by players playing in the prem last season, so getting players in for that is no priority. Best to take time and find the correct players for the whole season and not a 1st round in a diddy cup

Here's a possible chain of events scenario?
Scottish football - Chinese TV deal.
China - Pandas.
St Mirren - Paisley Panda.
Lightbulb flashes above BoD head - We could do something here.
Phone call - Neil Doncaster. Get contact details for Chinese station.
Ask If / when St Mirren are going to be on - draft letter with photos of Paisley Panda.
Send to Chinese broadcaster saying St Mirren are delighted to be live in their wonderful country etc.
Cost? Phone call, letter, stamps to China, a bit of time and the will to actually try it. If you call the Cockwomble to ask details of the deal, the Chinese may have a 'Sportscene' style show with studio guests... Surely China have slabbering bawbags drooling pish about fitba on TV... Maybe they simply dub their own commentary over provided live pictures, but unless you ask... The perceived benefit being Chinese viewers attention is drawn to our panda mascot, and a lot of them latch onto St Mirren as a team to follow.

I'm never quite sure which I prefer in the preseason signing bunfest - the excitement of seeing which 10 new numpties we'll sign right up to the week after the season starts, or just for once having a settled squad that only needs a bit of tweaking round the edges.
Would be nice to try the latter for once, just to see what it's like.

Very favourable 1st 7 games, 1st game against rangers is a 50/50 new manager, new squad etc, but if murray gets a decent 11 together, there's nothing to suggest games 2-7 aren't wins! 18pts outta 21 I'll take that! ✅

Saved Dumbarton from almost certain relegation in half a season, just missed playoffs last year, and kept them up this year in arguably the toughest championship league there's ever been. Let's not forget his last club trained twice a week at night, match day saturday, and players average wage are £250-£300 a week!! If he can get a team competing in those circumstances, imagine the possibilities with a higher budget, full time training, better facilities! He said he wants to develop the youths to building their careers and making a name for themselves, he equally at 34 will be looking at our club as a stepping stone to positions down south, ie alex Neil, and if he can mirror his achievements, I'm sure we'll all be delighted!

FFS this is the most pathetic post I've ever seen.

This argument is ridiculous, I have a mate who plays for Dumbarton, has done for 3 years, is in the first 11 every match. he works full time 9-5 mon-fri, trains twice at night a week and has a game on a Saturday. It is unthinkable that Ian murray could have done more last season than finish 7th and safe. Talk about punching above your weight, hibs, hearts, Rangers, the training complexes, budgets, and quality at their disposal, of course they were supposed to batter the lesser teams. Rank Ian murray against managers/teams on the same budget, and part-time. Answer?? Top of the pile, highest positioned part time club in scotland!!!
