I'm not suggesting cronyism at all. Just that the club should be looking to live up to it's One Club One Town mantra wherever possible because if they don't it'll come back to bite them in the arse. It's not hard to understand. If you are going to go out into the local community to try to forge closer links it's a hell of a lot easier if you don't have objections thrown back at you because you've shifted business and money out of the town.
The programme contract is probably insignificant in the grand scale of things, and of course if it transpires that the local printer was charging an obscene amount where the generic printer was cheaper then fair enough, but I think it's a principle that needs to be established. I'd rather see the club look to support local businesses, tradesmen and services as much as possible.
the club isn't here to support local businesses as much as possible
it's here to win football matches as much as possible
we'll need to agree to disagree on this

Stuart - while I agree with many of your posts, banging on about using local suppliers is wrong IMO.
What you are effectively suggesting is jobs for the boys and cronyism.
You go wherever you get the right quality at the right price.

Surely with all the people at St Mirren you have on speed dial on your mobile, it would be easy to contact them directly and ask a few pointed questions. Was the match programme decision already a done deal months ago, made by the outgoing BoD. Given the fact that many other clubs are moving to this West Midlands mob, is the modern match programme business dying on its arse anyway. Were the local company given the opportunity to quote for continuing the production of the programme. Were the local company particularly arsed with the hassle of dealing with St Mirren.
You come up with some more and let us know how it goes. You are clearly concerned by this business decision.
Quite an ironic most considering the amount of trivial shite that you've lambasted the board for over the years.

it's all about money
I assume that this new format makes more cash than pre season games and a straight knock out league cup tie

Those figures are crazy. There is something not right about a society which pays these sorts of salaries for this type of work.
jealous?
maybe you should have got a better job than a lecturer then!
mind you, seeing as you are lonely and live by yourself, you've probably got loads of cash
that's as long as you haven't spent it all on beer and burgers, fatty!

I had an Estate Agent in my house last week telling me they couldn't give away ex Council house properties these days. He said the only people interested were Buy To Let landlords who were bidding no more than 70% of market value.
I've got no problem with the discounts or the valuations. Right to buy brought home ownership to working class families and inherited wealth to working class families. It's been the only policy of any government in my lifetime that has genuinely produced proper social mobility. Where I do agree though is that the money in should have been used to keep the supply coming.
I totally disagree with what the Scottish Government has done. No surprise there I guess. Fortunately I am aware of one lottery winner who is currently looking at setting up an SEN that will allow his tenants the right to buy in Scotland. I really do hope it takes offIts no surprise that middle class leftie's like Drew are against right to buy.
Its all about keeping the poor in their place.
The bedrock of SNP support is the poorer sections of society. They don't want that eroded.

Right to buy had one major, major problem. The law prevented councils from investing the income from sales in new build social housing, the results of which were those ghettos.

finishing 3rd in a poor group is a poor show
Alex Rae is clueless
I'd sack him tonight

Stuart - economics and reality doesn't come into it.
FFS, the Leave vote won in the EU referendum!
When you have folk like Slarti not even knowing how the public debt is funded, how on earth would you expect your average punter to know what they were voting for?
Look at Tony Soprano, he's so clueless that its laughable.
Scottish independence is inevitable.

We get it the wrong way around in UK.
Build the cycling infrastructure first, then encourage people out of cars and onto their bikes.
Instead we punish drivers while keeping cyclists and all vehicles unsegregated.
Still, it keeps the tax pounds rolling in.

Are you suggesting that the SNP should deliver yet another tax cut / subsidy for the better off in society?

Unlike traffic lights then.
How man car drivers have been killed at junctions by cyclists going through a red light?
How many cyclists have been killed at traffic light junctions when obeying the red light?
How many times have you ever crossed at a pedestrian crossing while it was still sowing red?

HA! Ha! Ha! Boom! Boom! Mr.Nosferatu!
Anyway, Hardie is primarily a pacy striker who likes to run onto knock downs or through balls. Think he can play out wide too.
Scored 6 goals in 10 games for Raith Rovers, including a hat-trick against us.
will be interesting to see how all these forwards fit together...

Indeed.
He should resign now.
Pick a fan in the stand at random to replace him. Can't do any worse.
Unless, the fan is Top Cat mind you...
