  1. Have very sketchy memories of that game. Couldn't have told you the score but remember jumping over the wall at the back of the terracing to fetch more beers from the supermarket then climbing back in.

Oh aye, and ending up on the pitch after we scored..

    Messy.

Just checked out the stats and it was Lavety who scored the first but McLaughlin did get the equaliser after coming on as a sub.

  2. No he came on the last 10 mins and scored with his very first touch

I think if going by memory the guy with a shaggy perm McEarchern or something scored twice

    Yeh, that rings a bell.

EDIT, just read HSS' post, you were spot on!

And QPR did indeed have some team out that day... as did Saints!

  3. Beating QPR 3-2 with 16 year old Danny Divers scoring the winner and then disappeared

Beating Leeds 3-1 with Stevie Clarke scoring on his debut

Beating West Ham 3-0 with Campbell Money saving a Ray Stewart penalty

Beating Middlesbourgh 1-0 with McGarvey ripping Pallister a new one

Beating Rangers 2-1 with McGarry scoring twice

Did Danny Diver not actually score all 3 goals in that game?

He went on to play for Morton, Albion Rovers, East Stirling, Stranraer, Arbroath, Alloa, Hamilton & Ayr as well as playing for clubs in Denmark and Belgium (according to Wikipedia).

It also says that Diver's dispute with the Belgian club R.R.C. Tournaisien in the late 1980s in connection with player registration contributed to the later legal framework for the Bosman ruling.

    Fairly decent goalscoring record too.

  4. Legia Warsaw game aside (cos I wasnae there) cannae disagree with any of them.

My big cousin Liz was one of the cheerleaders at the Rowdies game. Oh the glamorous old days!

ETA:- Mind you, beating Aston Villa in 1987 was good if only to get it right up their chairman Doug Ellis who'd denigrated the standard of the Scottish league prior to the match.

IIRC, we tried to sign Alan McInally from Villa after that game? He couldn't get a game for them at the time I think.

The deal was put on hold due to Villa injuries however.

McInally duly went on a scoring spree and forced himself into the Scotland side and earned a move to Bayern Munich!

  5. My favourite was against Caledonian at Telford Street (before they merged with Inverness Thistle and moved ground).

Jimmy Bone was manager back then and Barry McLaughlin was playing as a striker pre season and scoring a few goals.

As Caley were non league there was no restriction on alcohol being brought into the ground and it was a hot summer's day...

    You can just imagine...

Anyway, we were 2-0 down and I think McLaughlin scored twice late on to get us a draw.

The best bit was when a Caley striker was clean through on goal and a Saints fan in the crowd blew a whistle.

The striker stopped in his tracks and the Saints defence got back to clear!

Kenny McDowall, by then a coach, was despatched to go round to find the culprit and confiscate said whistle...

  6. 0-1 Rangers, Scottish Cup Semi Final replay with the buns scoring a winner in the last minute of extra time that didn't cross the line

1-2 Hammarby UEFA Cup, losing 2 goals in the last 5 minutes

1-2 Rangers, League Cup Semi Final 2nd leg at Ibrox where the buns scored twice in the last mins, including a dodgy penalty

2-3 Aberdeen, Scottish Cup replay Semi Final at Dens Park with Aberdeen scoring a winner in extra time from a long range Peter Weir effort that went through Billy Thomson's legs

2-3 Celtic, Scottish Cup 4th round replay at Love Street, Celtic scoring a disputed winner in extra time

  7. Just out of curiosity, I'm wondering if an exchange of ownership in mid-July is likely to impact in any way on Alex Rae's player budget for the close season.

Presumably, this will have been accounted for, but amidst the entirely warranted positivity surrounding the successful takeover bid, it is worth considering potential implications for on the field affairs. Its a critical time for the management team, so here's hoping for a smooth transition with no problems for them in terms of building their squad.

    Anyone know the score?

Why would the takeover have any implications for the player budget?

  8. Its not relevant whether the guy was gay himself or not FFS.

He specifically targetted a gay bar with the specific intention of killing homosexuals.

That makes it a homophobic hate crime.

    End of story.

Sorry, its not the end of the story at all.

If the guy had been straight and had attacked a regular bar that he had visited a number of times previously then we wouldn’t be classifying this as a heterosexual hate attack, would we?

Nobody actually knows the motivation behind the attack. You don’t know what was going through the guy’s mind.

  9. Not sure but Cameron was on Andrew Marr yesterday saying of course Norway is doing well outside the EU, they've got the same amount of oil as uk but only 4 million population.

    Brass necked c**t

And of course, what he said is true.

As for Scottish independence, the opportunity for an independent Scotland to make a fortune from oil is now gone.

  10. With all the same tales of woe (jobs, pensions, etc) being used by the Remain side in this referendum as were used by the No side in the last referendum, does that mean that the UK is too wee, too poor and too stupid to make it on its own? Just asking. whistling.gif:

What it means is that we are better together... Scotland within the UK and the UK within Europe.

  11. I note that Mhari Black was getting in on the act last night.

She claims that this was a "total homophobic attack".

We now find out today that the gunman may well have been gay himself.

Typical of our MP to jump in without knowing all the facts...

It seems to me that there were obviously a number of issues going on in the gunman's head. His sexuality, his religion, his family and friends, his culture, society's attitudes towards homosexuality, etc, etc.

Personally, to use Owen Jones' viewpoint, I am neither gay nor religious... so I can't possibly understand the effect either would have on my mind.

It seems to me that he was mentally ill.

  12. Wrong.

    Div hasn't claimed this.

He stated that he has been told by a reliable source, and that he has seen nothing to contradict this.

That is very different from knowing for sure.

    You are talking shite..... again.

div liked my post which suggests that I was right and you were wrong, all along, all along

    yet again
