A quick question about the move to overturn the election result for twatmichael. Why? We have 56 mps. Would 57 make any difference? Setting aside democratic results is a very dangerous road and id want no part of it.

From the mobi and cant be arsed to work out hoq to quote previous posts. Mr D - in 35 of the constituencies the SNP won more than 50% of the vote. They got 50% of the overall vote and together with the Greens and SSP more people voted for parties advocating independence than the unionists. The dichotomy will only become more obvious as time goes by. Independence is inevitable

It is indeed correct that in 1979 the votes the Tories got (619,000) were more than the SNP at the last Scottish election (a smidge over 600,000). However i'm not sure that something that happened 36 years ago is in any way relevant. In politics the only thing that matters is the next election and the Tories are not going to do well up here.
