  1. This will be the first match I’ve been to in quite a while. Really looking forward to it, not because I think we’ll win, more because I derive great pleasure from watching them live, with a busy and noisy crowd backing us. Much better than listening to Sportsound and Open all mics on the radio, BW Army and P&B, never quite sure how well, or badly, we’re playing.

    Sad but true.

hope we keep 11 on the pitch and VAR doesn’t spoil the game.

    £7 a ticket  & £3 for kids ?  No thank you 👎

This is the fourth level of women’s football in Scotland isn’t it ?
Surely if they wanted to attract the next generation of female footballers the charges should be a lot less,

    Kids should be free admission.

Personally I think it should be free - try and encourage folk to go along, especially when there’s no 1st team matches.

I suppose they’re trying to cover the costs of playing at the stadium, but I think getting folk in the door for free will pay off longer term.

Thanks for this but someone has booked dinner tonight - for KO - so I’ll not be watching, catching the odd update on the net will likely be as much as I’ll manage.

Hoping for a win, would take a draw. Home form has been good and Sevco’s form has definitely dipped so reasons for optimism. Much will depend on our ability not to lose an early goal.

  4. Not a bad idea.

My son is heading to the game tonight with three of his pals - none are Buddies, but students from around the UK who enjoy football and miss watching their own teams while studying in Glasgow.

I’m not saying a scarf would be enough to get them going along on a regular basis but it wouldn’t do any harm.

as has been mentioned by others, a stirring performance, a few goals and a home win would probably do the job  !

  5. Well, the ticket office did call back, on Friday afternoon while I was tied up, but they did call. Twice.

I phoned today, bought the tickets and should receive them in plenty time for the match.

    Postage, £3 or £8 !! Frightening.

Only two tickets as my son and his friends couldn’t confirm til the end of the week - too late to get tickets mailed.

Not expecting a result but hoping for a good performance and perhaps even a goal or two !

From what I saw of the Celtic match Dons looked good going forward, with slick fast passing but still look vulnerable at the back. I’d like to see us start with Main partnering Ayunga up front.

  6. Surprised to find I’m more up for this match than I thought I’d be.
    (pre- season blind optimism)

The league cup performances weren’t great and I’m not sure the manager has decided what his best starting 11 is. Or the favoured formation.

    However

I think we will play better.
Ayunga looks like he’s capable of scoring a few goals
Bacchus looks a player and Strain can cross a ball

    So

    putting the managerial sideshow aside

It’s the first league game of the season and, as has been pointed out already, a win could see us top the table.

if we score first we will win

    2-0 or 3-1

  8. My wee girl plays in the academy and hope one day she will make the top squad.
fills me with pride every Sunday when she pulls on her saints top.

My niece signed for the first team recently and is absolutely loving it.

There was a piece on her in the DR a few weeks ago, with my Dad too. Good to see them getting more coverage in the press but would like to see more on the official site.

I think they’ll do better this season than last.

  9. It looks like tickets for this game have to be bought at the St Mirren Ticket Office. As many of us don’t stay in or near Paisley and are only there on match days, this just doesn’t suit a lot of fans. Why aren’t these available on line? ( Those for DU away are).

Ridiculous. I live north of Aberdeen and have to get my tickets from our ground in Paisley.

    Madness.

I have phoned but, like every other number you call these days they are experiencing higher than expected levels of calls. Left a message and waiting for someone to call back.
Need them to post the tickets too as no way I’m driving down to Paisley to collect !

Can only get for me and my wife as my son and his pals can’t commit yet and probably be too late to have them mailed by the time they can make a decision.

Clubs really are making it difficult for folk to attend games these days.

  10. I don't think we are as bad as results have been. Performance wise we have been poor but we are trying to bed in a number of new players who have not had too many minutes on the pitch over last season.
Strain, Ayunga and Baccus look better than decent. Gallagher and O'Hara look good too.
A settled side up to speed will do better than this. I still think we are squad light and need a Gogic type
There are signs of what Robinson is trying to do.

I thought we played ok against Arbroath and on another day, IF we had scored first, I think we could easily have eased to a 2-0 or 3-0 victory.

Obviously that didn’t happen though …

  11. Well, I actually quite enjoyed watching that.

Obviously took the foot off the gas after scoring the third, and their goal, which may have been offside exposed shoddy defending but was well taken.

The only disappointment for me today was Reid, everyone else got at least pass marks from me.
Even Olusanya, who I think will become a player for us once he gets up to speed.

Standouts for me included Ayunga, Baccus, Offord, Strain and Taylor, when he came on.

I am well aware who the opposition were, and I’m not saying I’m suddenly optimistic about the season or anything, but I am definitely less pessimistic about our season opener against Well.

    COYS !!
