  1. Give Loy , Smith and Sutton a run up front , Mallan playing just behind , and McGinn and Storie as holding midfielders , with an option of bringing Morgan on for Sutton for the last quarter , and moving Smith to a more central position to accommodate that .
  2. I don't have a problem with fans being critical of players on here , but I do think when they put on the stripes the fans should be %100 behind then, as for wee Stevie , hopefully he will be on from the start on the next two cup games and come good
  3. I hope he,s playing on Saturday , and does the simple things when the balls in our half , but takes a chance on the ball and tries to create when we are in their half , I think his game is more suited to most on these heavy pitches .
  4. Good teams should have at least four Captains on the pitch , Copeland , Bone , Fitzy , Aber , Munro , Cowboy , Cooper , Clarke , all ensured that was the case between 77 and 87 when we played our best football . Hopefully as well as McGinn , the new left back and centre half can add a bit of leadership on the park , Good Luck Stephen , hoping a new era starts towmorrow
  5. If the full backs can get down the wings and sling in some decent early crosses I think we,ll be fine , could be an interesting team , thinking we might go for a 4 - 2 - 2 - 2 type formation , with Storie and McGinn playing holding type midfield roles , with Mallan and Smith playing behind Loy and Sutton . Magennis , Todd and Morgan will all to come off the bench and add fresh legs as the game progresses . Saints to win by at least three goals . I can also hear Saints fans chanting the Great Escape as the game comes to a close . Cross my hands with silver and I,ll give you the final score and the first scorer
  6. Was the team set up with Stellios and Todd on the right hand side and did they play well together
  7. Totally agree , wee Stevie Mallan can learn loads from playing alongside Stephen McGinn , I think Storie and McGinn tried too hard to show how good they are instead of doing the simple things , we have a couple of league games and a couple of cupties coming up , we not only need to win these games , but also get the shape of the team sorted for the business end of the season
  8. Whilst I think its a good idea to try Loy and Smith together , I do think we should alternate our strikers to suit the opposition we have and the type of team we are putting out , I think Sutton would do well if the crosses were coming in from the byline and not a hopeful lob from the middle of the park , so if we can get a coule of fullbacks getting to the byline and whipping crosses in I can see him scoring regularly , thought McGinn looked classy yesterday and made a difference ( I wasn,t excited by him signing , but think I got it wrong ), Storie and Mallan are both good players , but seem inconsistent , hopefully Stephen McGinns presence will help them both develop . We ,are still in with a fighting chance , just need a wee win next week , followed by a cup win.
  9. Maybe the next step is a few months with Derbys Youth set up to settle in , and for Derby to assess him , then maybe a year on loan in the lower leagues in England or a place in Derbys first team squad .
  10. Saints have had two bids knocked back for a left back , maybe we are hoping to pay transfer fees for a couple of players and we don,t want other clubs to know how much spare cash we have
  11. Three of the new signings settled in nicely last Saturday , so things looking good and signings seem to be made with a bit of thought , I,m thinking the new signings are going to be fitter, faster and stronger than those they replaced and hopefully we won,t get bullied the way we did against Morton , and be more difficult to score against , I,m liking the chabges and whatever happens I think we will benefit from these chances next season too.
  12. I f we mange to keep Mallan , and use the McAllister money wisely , its some squad we have managed to assemble in a relatively short time , well done to all concerned for being brave and trying to make things happen
  13. two bids previously knocked back for a left back , hope its third time lucky , just a pity he,s probably cuptied
  14. Barnsley just sold Connor Hourihane to Aston Villa today , so might want to bring a couple in , bearing in mind they are currently raking in millions I think they might up their bid today
  15. Saw him as a versatile player that can play left back / and probably central midfield
  16. I hope it works out , but not convinced , we now seem to be collecting central midfielders the same way we previously collected centre halves and centre forwards , in general though I,m quite happy with how the squad is shaping up , probably needing a left back and a striker now
  17. If we could use half the money received to get these two and maybe get Storrie on a permanent deal , I think it would be good business , and from I,ve heard Jack Ross would very much like Calum Waters
  18. McAllister is being bought for his potential , he,s a good player no doubt , but the chances are Rory Loy will be every bit as good and he won,t be missed , I would like it if we used some of the cash to sign a couple of players who we might have the potential to sell on one day
  19. It makes sense to get good seats near where the team runs out so you can maybe catch a photo before the start of the game , maybe try and get into the 1877 club before the game , there might be the odd ex player about , maybe contact Phil the announcer to do a request and ask Div nicely to get a wee pic on the large TV in the corner
  20. Think , we,ll have to disagree on McGinn , don ,t necessarily disagree that we need that kind of player , I just think we should be targeting someone that has a better fitness record , just in case we don,t end up with another injury prone player , and Like you I think we need a player that can get goals , maybe a clever player that can play just behind the main striker , but in general I,m quite happy with how Jack Ross is going about his job
  21. Not convinced McGinn will make a difference , not the energetic youngster he was 10 years ago , I,m liking the look of the type of player Jack Ross has signed to date , which seems to be youing fit players full of running , I still think we,re chasing Waters from Alloa , and won,t be surprised if we offer a couple of players on Loan to Alloa ( with us paying their wages ) in exchange for him , Alloa are now out of the cup , and need to increase the size of their squad to challenge for a play off place.
  22. I,m thinking the capacity will just about be right for both sets of fans , think we beat them in a replay or maybe even a second replay that year , maybe 1971 , with Archie Knox getting a hat trick in the replay , good draw , and good to get to a stadium where I haven't seen Saints play
  23. I,believe have more depth in our squad as a result of Jack Ross,s dealing in the transfer window so far , also we are playing better , against Morton we were bullied all over the park and it wasn,t helped by having limited options on the bench to change things , that's not the case now as our recent signings seem to be fit , strong and able to play a couple of positions , we also seem to have found ourselves a decent keeper , thinking we,re now ready to go on a decent run , which will hopefuly allow us to be in excellent shape come the start of next season
  24. I would start along them lines Northstbuddie , maybe even consider playing Baird in Central defence and putting Sutton on the bench , and trying to frustrate Dundee , its an opportunity for us to try the new players out and see what their made of , would also consider having Orsi on the bench instead of Carkston , as I think pace and fitness are going to be important ......looking forward to the game COYS
  25. I think this is the game to give Lewis McLear his chance , whether that be upfront by himself , just behind a striker or on the right
