Well done St Mirren this is an excellent idea and the stadium is beginning to look like ours now and less like a mass of concrete.

The club could still be in limbo or worse if it hadn't been for every single name on that wall .
A fitting mark of acknowledgement .

After yesterday's performance, while a sports scientist may be beneficial in some way, of more benefit would be two additional front men, a midfielder, and a solid defender.  I'd rather Jack was looking at this, and maybe worrying about a sports scientist some other time.
Sure, maybe if you have Messi, Neymar and Suarez In your team, a sports scientist might help in the battle against Ronaldo, Bale and Modric... but with all due respect, it looks like Jack is battling to knit together some sort of team minus Mallan and Loy, with guys from Albion Rovers and Alloa....
Not a priority at this time. Not even close to being a priority. IMHO.

If the postings on here are representative of the SMISA membership, there appears not that many who are bothered either way.
I believe SMISA should be more transparent with these matters and communication from SMISA should be better. Unfortunately, Tsu is the only 1 engaging on here & that is a pity as at times, it looks like he gets hung out to dry a bit when healthy discussion results.
I completely agree with you, the managing of the 3 monthly spend must be improved and I think, there should be at least 4 or 5 options on every vote. Along the lines of
option 1 - Support SMFC funding to employ a Sports Scientist (suggested by The Club) option 2 - install TV's by the pie stalls & run a live feed from ST Mirren TV on match days (Suggested by SMISA Member)  option 3 - install rail seats for Safe Standing in Stand X Section Z (Suggested by SMISA Member)I) option 4 - Bank the Pot & put towards a future spend option 5 - Bank the Pot & kept for the SMISA in control rainy day fund Unfortunately, the members can only vote on what is presented to them.
If the option (like the transfer window vote of Transfer kitty or don't spend) is Sports Scientist or Save, then that is not acceptable but I really believe, not enough folk are bothered. Me, I just want to see the agreed process adhered to. Vote results, I'll accept, that is what the majority voted for, even if I didn't.

Fyi Kenny, don't know if you were aware but as well as the club insisting Smisa weren't independent anymore they also want Smisa to merge with the Fan council and be renamed same as the FC bar title.

I take back what I said. I was referring to the seat plan only which a few weeks ago I could not view on-line. I had to go to the ticket office to get a ST for a relative (I renewed mine ok on-line as it was the same seat as always). I reported the problem then which they were aware of. I did try and view a few days later and was unable to. Tried again just now and can view ok. So get in there and buy up the rest of the seats if you don't already have one!

I'm hoping Joma come up trumps this week with some spanking marketing images and that when we all see the new kit in the flesh we'll be happy buddies!
Been a pretty decent day of sales on the e-store, orders rolling in consistently all day so hopefully better marketing stuff will see that continue.
I actually feel a bit guilty about moaning so much about the delay in seeing the kit. Im definitely part responsible for the club rushing that dreadful shot of the kits out on Friday when there was really no need.
Going forward I'd really like to see us as a club re-invent the way we do these things. There's so many ways we could improve the experience for the supporters.
We should be planning for next seasons kits as soon as we can, and get it absolutely nailed on in terms of when we launch and how we launch.

To be fair I cannot understand the logic of an Open Day being restricted to those who have already signed up for the new season.
For me, an Open Day should be about attracting new fans as well as giving something back to those who have already signed up. The doors should be open to anyone and everyone who wants to come along on the day.
It would be slightly absurd for me and my son for example to want to go along to the Open Day as season ticket holders but tell my wife and daughter that they can't come with us. Madness!

Some appear to have reservations about Jack based on not acquiring more wins with the team he inherited. I would only judge him on the team he has created. Just a reminder of what he did  inherit -
    Defence
A keeper that lived up to his name and sold many goals costing valuable points. Now 'retired'. Two injury prone centrehalfs that were rarely fit and one centre half signed then loaned out to Alloa. The mainstay in central defence was Jack Baird at 20. No left footed players at all in defence. A left back playing out of position. A right back that had it drummed into him not to cross the half-way line before Jack took over then improved his game substantially earning a transfer in Jan.
    Midfield
Hutton now dropped down a league to get a game. Walsh now out of football after being released by us and his parent club. Calum Gallagher now with part-time Dumbarton where he has made 6 appearances. Quinn continuing his injury prone career by being injured most of the season.
    Strikers
Clarkson whose legs appear to have gone at just 31. Shankland who looked unfit and overweight. Hardie who maybe Jack could have got more out of as he has now scored 8 goals in the Championship compared to Sutton's 6 goals.
In my eyes Jack inherited a squad not fit for purpose and quickly changed things as much as he could but he had little to work with. Bringing in U20 players was not only a necessity but a masterstroke as they were much better than the loanees of the same age that Rae had brought in. It was no surprise we were bottom of the table and playing some of the worst kick and rush football I have ever seen in the stripes.
Since he dumped many of the above and brought in far better replacements we are now playing exciting football and we can see real progress in performances and results. I cannot judge him on what he inherited but on what he is doing now with his team and not the shambles he was left with.

I like the idea of the community season tickets but the problem with it is that it becomes an annual decision so if we go ahead and spend £6k on it this season and it's well used then it becomes a £6k spend we probably need to make every year (unless we want to become the bad guys taking it away after a year).
The HOF boards don't bother me either way to be honest. Seems crazy to think we couldn't get a sponsor to cover the cost and have their logo on the boards.
For £1.5K that would be a steal for any local company.
The Youth Team sponsorship I don't massively get as I'd rather see the money spent on one of our own teams or as someone else has said on a St.Mirren womens team.
All in all a bit meh for me but I've voted for them all anyway as I don't really disagree with the sentiment of any of them.
I'm assuming if some of the options aren't voted through then the money set aside for that one is banked but like many others have said I'd like to see an option every month that says "bank the whole lot" as whilst it's all very noble spending £8k every quarter I don't think it would be a bad idea to build up a reserve of say £20k so that we could start to consider bigger projects or saving up for that "rainy day".

    No, No, No for me.
Rainy day / Big Project for me.
Like the idea of a sponsoring / creating a cup, having final played at St Mirren park giving SMISA / St Mirren great exposure and giving the club funds.

No to the hall of fame boards. Seems overly expensive.

No to the season tickets. We aren't exactly selling out games so I don't see why we'd have to buy the season tickets. The club should be doing more regarding ticket pricing to make football accessible for all.

No to the youth sponsorship. I'd prefer we used it to give free football for young people of a certain age. Get involved with something along what the charity McLaren works with. Get as many people benefiting rather than one team.

    "Difficult" but not impossible.
Can the vote not be suspended and an email sent to everyone advising of a wee rethink and a new vote will be up & running within a week or thereabours? Surely, there is no rush to spend the money immediately.
I'd like to suggest that every vote includes an option to "save for the next vote".

I am with you on the idea of saving money, we do have to increase our profile with those who don't currently go to games though, also it may convince others to sign up when they see we are using funds for good reasons (did i mention i don't think HoF boards are a good use of funds IMO) i'd say that after 2 seasons of promoting the trust, we should start saving for what we are going to need when we buy out the shares, surely we need to do that to give ourselves a running start.

I've been disappointed in the "how to spend our money" side of SMiSA.
Last time we got to "vote" SMiSA had already decided where the money was going.
This time they're asking me to vote for spending money just for the sake of spending money.
The Season Ticket idea is a nice idea for giving under privileged people a day out at the football. No matter how much they enjoy the day out they are not going to become customers in the future.
The HoF option?I like the HoF boards but why spend £1500 on them when there is a cheaper option?
Youth Football? If you pick one team to sponsor you immediately alienate the rest of the clubs. As has been mentioned earlier, either sponsor a League or Cup and involve all the clubs.
And finally there is no option to save the money.
    It's a No,No,No from me.

That's an interesting option as there could be "none of the above options" choice and let the money build up for possibly bigger and better things.

My thoughts entirely. Bit puzzled by this proposal. Surely we have enough youth teams already, which SMISA already supports? I am minded to vote against this proposal - I'm all for community engagement but I don't follow the idea of supporting other football teams. I'd rather give the money to St Mirren's youth teams, or look at sponsoring some other sort of community initiative that might encourage more people to come down to Love Street.
