  1. Those two posts I pasted were really to point up “Brae”…. which is what I/we called it back in the day… eta. And prob’ly “Murn”, too.
  2. Hmmmm. https://www.pinterest.co.uk/pin/562105597239411044/ And… https://www.pinterest.co.uk/pin/214132157268079986/
  3. Of course, not! I was backing up your well-founded, perfectly well-intended description of a variety of food provision. I was echoing that I'd also been pulled up for something that seemed value-free, to me.
  4. To be fair, it’s no more tedious or maddening than the drivel of Mutt and Fartaway. truth is, I’m a wee bit busy right now and just not wasting my time. I grab a quick look at few threads they’ve not polluted, then “mark site read”. eta. Posted the above, then… Just cleared 9 topics.
  5. Bet they feel hammerbyed….
  6. Can’t be bothered responding to the litany of either thick or bigoted comments above, but… I'd concede UK newspapers (and other media) are set up to exploit division and diversity, to blame “others” by pandering to the insecure people who need excuses for their personal lack of success or achievement - so that the mass of working and unemployed people (no matter race, colour or religion) will distrust each other and not focus on the real source of life’s disappointments. When I was still in Scotland, I devoured everything/anything - hoping to see stuff about people like me… but there was so little of it. It was all southern based bbc, itv or Hollywood. I wanted to see people like me doing things, being successful. Role models. Which is good enough reason for no-one to not be scared of seeing diverse people of all races and backgrounds popping up on the multiplicity of media outlets you now enjoy. I got slagged (at least 10 years ago ) on P+B for mentioning I’d had a “chinky”. I’m still waiting for eedjits to realise that when they enjoy an “Indian” (which seems to have escaped such censorship) to realise that it is more than likely to have been prepared and cooked by Bangladeshi people.
  7. It's usually January, February March April May June July august September October November December… … at least it has been for a couple of centuries, as far as I know…
  8. And yet… and yet… poor Albionsaint stuck in his unlit burrow isn’t the sole repository of ignorance about the black presence in Britain. https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2023/oct/26/half-of-britons-cant-name-a-black-british-historical-figure-survey-finds That report shows we can all live and learn. He’d hate that. fwiw Beachy Head Lady was “said to be of African origin” means that scientific progress has helped finesse results. Historians, scientists and researchers are happy to be always learning from new information. Albionsaint refuses to learn anything.
  9. From the little I watched of it - this was certainly not the first time he’d been there and been provocative. I suspected that “You’re a knobhead.” was an accurate depiction… which he then went on to confirm. I stopped watching- tedious uninformative shit.
  10. I asked a brief question about it. I thanked the responders. You’re the one bleating on and on about it, giving it the publicity you claim you deplore. Let it lie.
  11. I think it was a Facebook link (one of l several responses to my query) that said, “a rangers supporting pub in Paisley”! That shocked me. As did the their satisfied comments. I was puzzled that I’d seen no mention of it, on here. It appeared true (which is why I asked Buddies likely to know)then I looked at the final posts to be relieved to see it was no more. Mere curiosity - not at all weird.
  12. Buddies posted above about the Bob Inn/Stringfellows which I never ever knew. So I googled - and a “New Rangers pub in Paisley” popped up in one of the links. That caught my eye. Thank you for taking an interest.
  13. Not noticed anything about it on here, but it appears that The Afton has been opened a while and is operating as… … a Rangers Bar? Low key, as they say. But it will show “the Games”. Inn on the Corner. https://www.followfollow.com/forum/threads/a-new-rangers-bar-opened-up-in-paisley-inn-on-the-corner.212708/ ETA: reading the final page of that (someone had to do it!), it seems shut again.
  14. So, you don’t intend to be see the recent BBC documentaries with data and proof about the governmental neglect and abuse of the self-inflicted housing disaster? …not to mention your blaming of immigrants for (and glib dismissal of current government’s) failures in sewage, transport and power etc? Of course, these are not free! No one but you might have suggested they were! Their costs are ongoing (if a government truly wants to protect and care for its citizens) and a decent, caring government will plan for and fund all the above. Even when fresh people arrive on these islands. It's not only the native Scottish population that’s falling. We need immigrants. Our government has been and is a disaster.
  15. God. Subliminal typos…. I don’t ever do spelling misteaks. W6 didn’t react to my 3 responses, apart from leaving… ”something from Oxford Economics for (me) to consider” about 1 bit. From Oxford Economics. I googled… “Is Oxford better than LSE? The LSE is widely rated as on a par with Oxford and Cambridge for the subjects it teaches and more generally.” Mah wummin went to LSE and, as she acknowledges she may have been wrong, I’d imagine the Oxford Economics thing is also “wrong” given that it was commissioned specifically by the Tories in 2018 to confirm their bias. Kinda archaic evidence… And that small example it offers is…chalk with cheese bollox. Why? Eu migrants who are permitted to work are more economically worthwhile than non EU migrants, whom we deny the right to work. Duh… Now why would one group be less financially beneficial than the other?! Could the latter’s opportunity chances be less? And, of course, immigrants won’t finance “new infrastructure” especially if the govt has not planned, scheduled or considered doing ANYTHING about new infrastructure, especially housing. Watch the BBC PROGRAMMES on this. Immigrants are not the baddies, here.
  16. Regard 1. Economists would disagree. Mah wummin (an economist) was as sceptical as you, till she read up on it and grudgingly conceded she was being superficial. 2. It seems to be a god thing for not only the people coming here, as they can experience a better quality of living and personal development whilst doing what the majority of them - send monies back to the families that they’ve left behind. And many( better trained, experienced and skilful) take their talents home. 3. Immigrants are the last people to blame for the housing crisis. And they’re especially blameless when it comes to the bottom of the market. Last week the BBC had the first of a two-parter (I watched both) on the the UK housing crisis and pulled no punches. It was focussed and angry. I may have misunderstood but it has been (and is STILL BEING) made more and more worse by successive Tory governments kow-towing to house-building, Tory financing companies AND their property owning selfish voters. Watch the programmes if you really wish to understand why UK has this problem, which is STILL worsening.
  17. FWIW… The museum and art gallery between the Town House and castle is warm, dry and awfy good for local knowledge, history and natural history. And, instead of Culloden, Cawdor Castle is one of the best wee yins to visit. Also loadsa art, for which the late Laird created information cards that are witty and self-mocking. ( great gardens, too - in warmer weather). And Eden Court (good restaurant/ok bar) has (IMHO) a couple of mediocre movies and a “meh” musical on tonight… https://eden-court.co.uk/whats-on/all ETA: The museum/art galleries is an easy step to The Gellions….
  18. Is the County pitch a good one, well-drained? Or would even a wee bit rain tip it into boggy conditions? (one of the few grounds I never got to…)

  20. Latest obfuscation is that it was a Palestinian group firing rockets towards Israel. From West of the hospital. one malfunctioned and fell in the hospital, deaths caused not so much by the blast as the mass of unspent rocket fuel. bbc are going with that. It would be good to have something less invested in the politics, like Bellingcat, doing the investigation
