Obika and Durmus had to start as they have drive and look to go forward
They aren't great but as Livi have shown you don't need to be

Game was lost before a ball was kicked. Gave Livvi far too much respect with that starting formation. It was the type of team you play v the cheeks . Handed them the initiative from the off which they took. Very hard team to come back against after that. In effect we played right into their hands.

Mason either plays as LB or doesn't. A midfield with Ethan and Cammy will create hee haw. If Foley or Flynn aren't up to playing when the game was crying out for someone who could put a foot on the ball and pass it then get them shifted.

How Jim persuaded Brophy to sign if he intended using him as a lone striker I will never know. Anyone who knows anything about Scottish football knows he isn't a lone striker. I can only assume Jim knows that and plans to address it for next season.

Finally the wild prolonged form swings are baffling. It's either feast or famine and it needs ironed out.

Agreed, but he's just off the radio accepting the plaudits for his teams "fantastic" second half display. If Foley and Flynn are fit enough to play, today was the day to have at least one experienced guy in that midfield. A very negative starting lineup and his reluctance to change it when it was clearly not working was baffling.

Manager asks for the players to handle the occasion and be brave. Needs to look himself in the mirror tonight as total lack of bravery in his team selection and formation. These opportunities don’t come along very often so disappointing to go out with a whimper. 

Think jim has to take a good amount of blame here setting up too defensively.  

Livi scored first and were comfortable until the last 10mins "kitchen sink time", for a cup game I would've liked to have seen the Mason/Durmus change at H/T - losing 2/3-0 would've made no odds today.

Entitled to your opinion but I categorically disagree, they've been poor last few games yes, but this afternoon I seen no sign they were treating this game like a cup semi until the last 10 minutes. There was one point in the first half their keeper didn't know what to do with the ball at his feet because he assumed he'd be pressed and he wasn't. 
Tactics and personnel changes were off today, yes, but I did not see 100% effort on that park, nowhere near it.

Dare I say but there was only one person to blame and that was Goodwin.  
Mason, Macpherson and Erhahon are, for a semi, too young and light-weight given the physique of the Livingston squad and it proved to be a total disaster.
The squad in the second half came near to what it should have been in the first half.  
The whole town is in depression now.  Very disappointing especially when we had the ability to do much better had the team selection reflected common sense.

That is absolute cringe.
Also there was nothing “agonising” about the defeat. We were gubbed from the start.

I’m sorry mate, I’m honestly not having a go at you specifically but I hate this type of naive view.
We did not play well in the second half. We were as dreadful in the second half as we were in the first. The only difference was that after going one nil up and us going down to 10, St. Johnstone just gave us the ball to play with. Ordinarily you would say that was a dangerous game to play, but they were safe in the knowledge that we couldn’t lay a glove on them. We did absolutely nothing in the second half. Not once did we test Clark or make any sort of chance worthy of note.
It was a horrendous performance and Elvis is bang on when he says if we play like that next week, Livingston will absolutely destroy us.  Hopefully we will buck our ideas up.

he was absolutely rotten yet again pathetic performance no one played well today.
 
tactics were all wrong no one at all on the left even tait had a poor game since he was out there on his own all game.
 
Playing Erwin left wing really is crazy I’d even struggle to give him a place on the bench never mind play him there.

I don't know about anyone else but I reckon it's time that someone higher up at club has a word with JG & co. Not being funny but the club have backed him to bring better players in, even recently and to go and play a team no better than ourselves really and try to grind out a result is quite frankly crap. Player wise, probably best group I have seen for a while and are capable of much better.
 
In saying that, wouldn't surprise me if we go and beat livi. It is saints after all.

I agree with most of the sentiments about recent performances. We have brought in two strikers but we are crying out for a midfield that can supply in the final third. We are ending up with players on the park whose attributes are too similar and as a result we are keeping possession without a cutting edge. Disappointing as felt we were heading in right direction up until the quarter final was finished 

Another horrendous performance and tactics again by Goodwin: set out for bore fest and 0-0 but will blame McPherson sending off as reason which didn't help but not the reason: last 3 league games a think we have had one shot on target,:you can bring in all the strikers you want but when you have Goodwin sharp or McManus or Webster or langfield as main coaches at club and neither could hit a cows arse wi a banjo then we fukd if there teaching or coaching strikers:except gers cup game we have been brutal for long time:changes must be made and fast:get Thompson in as striker coach or big basher as this isn't working 

Seriously bud,they could have scored 4 goals in first 10 minutes of 2nd half before tait was sent off,we are worst team in league by far at this present time and covid 19 or not we have to make changes,if this goes on another 4/5 matches then we must look at changing the manager as it is not working,even games we won we have been pathetic in rest of games like accies we was horrendous 2nd half and fakes horrendous for 90 mins,rotten for 45 against livvy and rotten for 60 against count and absolutely shit against gers,and take in managers tactics and formations then we must be looking at changes
